Pleaded with Ms. Police Officer til I turned green, said I needed to pick up my dog's Rx- before CVS Pharmacy closed. She had no time for sad stories. After that, put ticket in my bag and off I went to the pharmacy. Could've/Should've done a number of things including pay it off and move it along. But I was determined to fight the damn ticket in court. H...o...w...e...v...e...r- few things took a left turn from my part after that: lost my summons, no time to go to court, back-to-back work schedules, delayed my hearing, etcera. But I also didn't want it to affect my driving record or result in a suspended license. In any case, I missed the deadline badly, it cost me and had to take action fast. Front desk officer, directed me to the Traffic Clerk's window and I paid ticket+fees. The clerk was real cordial and didn't feel I was being brushed off- in reality, the sister helped me in every way. In the end, I fessed up and gotta be a bit more light-footed on the gas. Paying that ticket, hurt my pocketbook but listen- I admitted my guilt. And coming here was a breeze.

Parking is available right next door, and not too expensive -then free directly across the street after your are picked. Would be nice if they had more than one parking machine in the courthouse as time may need to extended depending on where you fall in the jury pool. The courts operate on a union schedule, so prompt start at 10:00am, lunch from 12:30 to 2:00 pm, then done promptly at 4:30 each day. Only pick is the truly ho-hum coffee shop in the building, although there is a terrific deli/restaurant around the corner. The civil case was short - only three days, and so I am free for the next 6 years after serving. Wheee!

I had some time before I needed to be to the airport, so I visited the White Plains Public Library on Martine Ave. I found a metered street spot nearby. This library is pretty large with multiple floors and was well-lit and quiet when I visited on a Saturday morning. I loved the big new book section right at the front of the main level, especially the full shelf of new cookbooks (one of my favorite genres)! They had some other really great displays, including one celebrating Jane Austen's 250th birthday and some BookTok books. I saw a seed library, teen area, even an attached cafe. I'm really glad I got to visit this library!

When I walked in I was greeted by a man who asked if I had an appointment and when I responded yes, he pointed me in the direction I needed to go. Checking in was also easy, and if you had trouble there was someone there to help. I typed in my phone number, my appointment time popped up and I printed out a receipt and found a seat. I had a 11am appointment and I arrived early like 10:36, so not crazy early lol To my surprise at 10:58 my ticket number was called and I was at the counter. The lady at the counter was full of personality. She got me in and out before 11:30. This time the parking only cost me, $3. Overall when you have to go to the Dmv automatically you think of drama and stressful day but my experience there today was calm and easy. I 100% recommend that you make your appointment online beforehand to save yourself the headache.

There are lots of post offices in this area, but this one is by far the nicest one. I came here right before Christmas to send a lot of packages. There was a bit of a line but it moved very quickly, and the employees were very jovial and nice to everyone who came in. I'm so glad I have a post office like this that is convenient for me to get to.

Long story short, we thought we found the right "contractor" right in our own neighborhood. Turned out, we put a $1000 deposit towards a $2200 driveway demolition job which never happened. Only thing he did do, was tear up the lip at the end of the driveway as a means to 'keep us quiet' and buy himself some time while simultaneously doing another job not far from where we live. The phony 'contractor' led us to believe he would be at our house 'tomorrow' to break ground. But that never happened. The back and forth between this quack and my husband went on too many times to count. I lost patience and hubs tried to keep his cool. But we also wanted our $1000 for a job he was hired to do which never took place. Instead, he used our money to pay for electrical tools to use for his other job. After that, there was some shady business from the halfwit you'd only see on tv. We eventually got $500 out of the $1000 we initially paid him. And that just set hubs off. ************************************************ Hubs took matters into his own hands and filed a Westchester Consumer Protection complaint against that quack with ALL our info right on this website. Alfonso (don't recall last name) was assigned to our case and wanted basic timeline information to get a thorough picture of what went down in order to work up a case. With Alfonso's help, multiple charges were brought against that so-called "contractor" and get back the remainder of what was due to us. Alfonso played a key role in all this and resolved our issue. Most importantly, he put a stop on that phony as hell 'contractor'. So thank you Westchester County Consumer Protection for being what you are AND going as far as you did in this matter. Plus your expertise and speediness- even during this pandemic, is impressive.
