Leashed and friendly pups are welcome on the beach south of the swimming area and on the whole boardwalk, making it the perfect walk and play location. I've been coming here my entire life, as did my parents and grandparents. The back of the photo reads "Lavallette 1929") I love it here and aside from the nostalgia, it is a treasure of the Jersey Shore. The beautiful oceanfront boardwalk is absolutely spectacular any time of year and is a valuable amenity to the entire area, as well the entire State. The whitest, most powdery sand in New Jersey. And certainly one the the best maintained beaches anywhere. As a kid, going "down the shore" always meant Lavallette to me. Remarkably nothing much has changed: there are larger houses and perhaps more people, but the character and vibe remains unchanged. Happy families, laughing and running children, coming of age teens. First kisses, summer loves. Growing up. Surfboards, beach bikes, crabbing. It's that kind of place. But note: if you're looking for the Seaside Heights crowd here, keep driving. Lavallette is all-American clean-cut family fun.

We drove to the trail #7 as recommended by the gate for the best sunset views! It was truly beautiful to see the sunset on the bay. Walked over to the beach- vehicles allowed on the beach, saw bonfires and lots of people fishing! Plan to buy season passes and enjoy this State Park more often!!

But for some reason they where closed at seven instead of the posted 9PM on the website. They lost a lot of business as I know there was at least 30 -40 people looking to use there service. My family lives right across the street from FunTown, and as others mentioned, the biggest asset to this beach is the BYOB policy. You can also freely smoke on this beach. But don't let that policy fool you...the employees and life guards here are top notch. Actually, I would even venture to say that the life guards are better than the Seaside Park/Heights crew, because they have to deal with tipsy people swimming in the water. In addition, there are a wide variety of amenities that this beach offers, including chair and cabana rentals, bathrooms, and a tiki bar. On the weekends, they offer a DJ, and the beach turns into a giant dance floor. It's definitely a place to get your beach party on! Now, you may have noticed that I only gave the beach 4 stars...in reality, I want to give it 4.5 stars. This is because, being that it is a BYOB beach, it attracts people from all walks of life. This beach can get a little (ahem, a lot) rowdy, particularly on weekends. Although spending a Saturday afternoon guzzling down White Claws on pristine sand is ideal, everyone else has the same idea - so the beach DOES tend to get crowded and loud. This is in no way a reflection of the staff at FunTown beach, as they remain helpful and professional all through the different atmospheres. If you like the atmosphere of a booze cruise, then by all means, go to FunTown on the weekends. However, if you want a chiller atmosphere - kick back, relax, and read a book while drinking a margarita - then stick to this beach on weekdays.

The water is clean, I saw no garbage floating around and I could actually see through the water which was wonderful. Everyone was quiet, very calm vibes. Only complaint are the "police" who I saw trying to overexert their authority with more than two groups of people for the most absurd reasons. Just seemed like they had nothing better to do tbh. I'm not talking about the actual real police, I'm talking about the beach police who clearly aren't real police but seemed to want to make a name for themselves. Seeing things like this annoys me especially when the people being bothered weren't doing anything. But other than that; clean water, good vibes, 5 star beach in my opinion.

The boardwalk is kept not just safe (security guards on site), it's also very clean ( many housekeeping employees on site available). In the summer, if you are looking to enter the beach for FREE, you got to arrive before 9 am. If you enjoy riding a bicycle on the boardwalk you are good to go between 6 AM and 9 AM! If you are a fitness guru, you could enjoy beach pull up bars in every other block of the boardwalk. Thirsty or hungry?
