Came here and was so so happy we chose to spend our first beach day of the summer here. Everyone was friendly at the badges booth and I think the $12 day pass was beyond reasonable. The water is clean, I saw no garbage floating around and I could actually see through the water which was wonderful. Everyone was quiet, very calm vibes. Only complaint are the "police" who I saw trying to overexert their authority with more than two groups of people for the most absurd reasons. Just seemed like they had nothing better to do tbh. I'm not talking about the actual real police, I'm talking about the beach police who clearly aren't real police but seemed to want to make a name for themselves. Seeing things like this annoys me especially when the people being bothered weren't doing anything. But other than that; clean water, good vibes, 5 star beach in my opinion. read more

Belmar has one of the most decent boardwalks around central jersey area. It's newly renovated and has a nice set up of bars and restaurants around it. The boardwalk is kept not just safe (security guards on site), it's also very clean ( many housekeeping employees on site available). In the summer, if you are looking to enter the beach for FREE, you got to arrive before 9 am. If you enjoy riding a bicycle on the boardwalk you are good to go between 6 AM and 9 AM! If you are a fitness guru, you could enjoy beach pull up bars in every other block of the boardwalk. Thirsty or hungry? First time coming to this beach with the family and I couldn't believe we didn't come here sooner! I'm so glad that I came here for the seafood festival. While enjoying the festival, my family and I also got to explore this beach. Yes, between Memorial Day through Labor Day, there's an admission fee for the beach as life guards will be on duty. The festival was a weekend before Memorial Day and I'm glad it's 80 plus degree weather so we got to check out the beach for free. It's nice and clean. I love the fact that there's no games and all eateries are usually across the street from the broad walk which means, there should be less people walking on the broad walk itself (unless other jersey beaches). I arrived to the beach around 10am and there were plenty of parking spaces available. I'm sure it will be different during the summer but that's every beach you go! There's meter parking and there's also street parking on side streets for free. There's restrooms every two blocks and yes, it's clean! I totally recommend coming here and if you like coming to the beach often, you should purchase their season pass for $55 rather than paying $8 a day for adults. Senior citizens and disabled (must show proof) are at discounted price of $15. Kids 15 and under are free. read more

I have frequented the beaches around Belmar, but never actually have been to Belmar Beach. So, for my first beach foray of the season, I decided to try something new and check out Belmar. The beach was well maintained, the attendants were nice and the bathrooms were very clean. Along Beach Avenue there were a few restaurants, a convenience store and Dunkin' Donuts. It is also popular surfing beach and I saw at least 6 surfers on the day I went. woo hooo!! Best beach in the area! I don't come to the beach often but when I do, it's Belmar. Parking: Metered or street parking. Both gets really full on the weekend. Beach Tag: Required. $9 or you can purchase one for th w season. Booth I am familiar with is the one at 3rd Ave. There are others. Check the website. Rentals: You can rent umbrella, chairs and others beach necessities all for a reasonable price. Umbrella is $15. I believe the chairs were $9. Beach: Very clean. The water does not have a bunch of seaweed!! The sand is easy on the feet too. The seagulls aren't intrusive. The bathrooms are clean. The people are respectful. There are some cafes along the boardwalk and they even have a little playground for children. Overall this is one of the best beaches. Pack your beach bags and head over, up or down to. I love this beach! Perfect beach to relax and enjoy the sun. There's always plenty of space on the sand to set up blankets, chairs, and towels. The boardwalk is also nice and relaxed. The bathrooms are actually clean! There are many restaurants/food shops in the area to enjoy something to eat. I do suggest getting here early because the parking spots by the boardwalk go quick. There is street parking available but you will have to walk pretty far depending on how late you get here. Parking is free! The beach pass for the day is $9 for ages 16+ which is great! read more

Don't come here.... It's too crowded and we don't need any more people! My favorite beach. If only it was my private beach. It gets VERY crowded during the busy times and there's no where to park which is the reason for one star off. If you don't like walking, don't come! Because you will have to walk very, very far to get to your car after spending the day at the beach. Daily beach badge price is around $8-9 from what I remember. read more

I went there in the summer and the weather is nice it is only $13 per person but you only have to pay for yourself if you're 13 and over there is a lot of food places around so you can eat and you don't have to bring food and it is just a very nice place to be in the summer time!!!!!! read more

Where have you been all my life?! I'm not sure why it took me 33 years as a NJ native to find Belmar beach. This place is awesome. Clean, family friendly, & a boardwalk. There is a fee to get in as with all jersey shores requires a beachtag, but that covers lifeguards and such. Belmar is much nicer on this side of town. Nice park, bathrooms, lockers and the best priced season pass in the area. $55 for the season and certain discounts for different ages and military. Otherwise it is $8 per day. Beach is looking good this year and the attendants are friendly. There is a beach volleyball court set up as well as a few play areas for the kids. Showers available to wash off the sand or cool off if the ocean is rough. read more

Coming to this section of Belmar, I was always able to relax with my sister. It felt calm and quiet --whether during the weekday or weekends. We got our spot and just hung on the beach, splashed on the water, and when we needed food, we would walk the boardwalk (also for partial exercise), and go to the more populated areas. I did notice this felt more like a family beach, but perhaps it's just this section of the beach. Where you hit the restaurants and bars, there will be the type of crowd to match the businesses, you know? We never had issues finding parking either. Sometimes we had to drive a bit, but not so far where it was an unbearable walk. A few times we were lucky to get close spots right by the boardwalk. But to be fair I think we came SUPER early. read more

When I go to the beach I usually go on 8th so it's close to the bathroom. Anywhere around this area is more families and less youngsters (teens and 20s). The youngsters can be found up at the 16th-18th streets by D'jais. I have a pool in my development now and can't take too much heat without being able to easily cool off in fresh water or air conditioning so my beach days are slim to none anymore. Haha. I went on a Thursday in June, just the other day. It was pretty quiet and peaceful on the beach and not too hot. Weather was just right!!! The beach badge guy sitting 8th Ave was so super friendly. He was very welcoming and wished everyone a good day and to come back soon when they left. I feel like it's very rare you get people this happy and friendly at their jobs anyone. So, if you're looking for a more peaceful friendly environment go to the 8th Ave entrance during the week. You won't catch me here on the weekends anymore...I don't have patience for crowds and search for parking anymore lol read more

This is a really nice beach that I'll probably never visit again, for the simple fact that finding parking is THAT HARD! Admittedly, I've never made it here before 11am or so, but if you're someone who doesn't hit the beach super early, I'd recommend saving yourself the aggravation. You'll just end up driving up and down the one-way streets looking for parking thinking you could have already played in the ocean by now! (at least that's what happened to me) read more

I really like this beach. It's got a good mix of young and old but none of the annoying. I've never rented a locker or anything like that but they look pretty well kept. This area of the boardwalk seems to have more shops and food stalls coming back. And also you can walk up and go to an actual restaurant if the mood strikes you. The sand is actually getting more refined than in previous (immediately post-Sandy) years. I am noticing fewer rocks and sea shells and more fine soft sand. The waves are even high enough to surf a little, but I'm told this is not the best spot for that. Anyway for the casual beach goer, this is the beach. read more

The only reason why it is not a 5 star beach is because I cannot let go of my clear water beaches. This beach is kept very clean and the attendees are very considerate. It is a relaxing beach where you wouldn't notice the hundreds of people unless you were doing a complete 360. There is a fee to attend but who cares? Visited 13th Ave boogie boarding area yesterday and this is our go-to beach each summer. Safe, attractive beach and town with good folks, and value priced (kids 11 & under free, rest $7). Warm water (73 degrees in late Aug.), mild dropoff is perfect for young kids and normally mild wave action. However, yesterday was excellent wave action whipped up by a tropical storm in the middle of the ocean. Surfers, boogie boarders and wave jumpers dream. Only thing is there were rip currents so the always vigilant lifeguards kept everyone close to the shore until around 2:30pm when the waves became more predictable with low tide approaching. Then, all the swimmers and water enthusiasts really enjoyed getting out deeper and riding that surf! The wave action slows down into tomorrow and should be back to the normal, mild waves by weekend. The Gorgeous new boardwalk, ample parking in the neighborhoods nearby (although some days it's a hike to the beach) and good selection of eats makes this our prime spot. One question, the lifeguards said there was a water rescue at 20th Ave. and a drowning at Sandy Hook last week. Where can we go to track such things? read more

Went here today and figured out this is the teenager beach. The drop off was very close to the shore too. My family moved down to Avon (recommend by a local) and were much more comfortable and there was a nice beachside restaurant. read more
