A lovely spot for coffee, tea, or drinks that also offers scrumptious upscale brunch, lunch, and dinner.
Overall I would say my first experience here was absolutely lovely- and I will be going back for more.
We made a reservation for dinner around 7PM and were seated promptly in the breezy alfresco dining area- which is covered and very comfortable, especially on these warmer evenings.
My friend and I enjoyed the arancini and the kimchi fish fritters. I had the Whitechurch Negroni, and she had a glass of the house white. My negroni was nice, and the wine had a refreshing citrusy quality.
I would give both the arancini and the kimchi fish fritters 4/5 stars: both were delicious but needed some minor adjustments. The fritters were very delish though I would have liked more aioli (ended up as more than a garnish than a sauce) & to taste the kimchi more in the fritters. The arancini were also lovely but under seasoned, so we needed to ask for salt and pepper.
Overall, these are minor notes and the experience was very lovely. The venue is beautiful and relaxing, the service attentive and very friendly. I would recommend Whitechurch to anyone looking for a nice outing in Durham, and I would most certainly bring friends and family here. I look forward to returning and updating my review when I am able to try more of this lovely establishment's offerings! read more
