So I hired Mark to do an inspection on a house I'm looking to buy because when I was trying to sell my late aunts house he was the guy that inspected it and it was so thorough that it cost me quite a bit of money. That's what you would want in an inspection right? Well he came an physically did the inspection after having to reschedule due to ex wife problems. I get it, I have an ex wife and their plans are always more important than anything else in the world. He came and did the inspection and told me the inspection report should be done that night or early the next day. Noon the next day comes around and nothing so I text him "do we have an eta on the report yet"? He responds with he had to go to the hospital for whatever. You can ask him if you really want to know why, but he was at home and working on it and it will be done in a coupke hours.​ Keep in mind it's now Wednesday and I have a deadline of saturday. 5 o'clock on Wednesday and still nothing so I text again "do we have an eta?"...no response. My realtor texts him...no response. I call and no answer, my wife calls and no answer. I should disclose, I paid him in cash when he was done with the inspection. It's now 9 o'clock on Wednesday and he has ducked every text or call we have made so I hope he enjoys my money because now I've had to hire another inspector and pay him too. So I hope your "business" works out for you. (It wont). I understand things come up and am generally pretty forgiving but I'm on a time crunch and at the least he could respond and let me know what's going on but it's pretty obvious he's just stealing my money so I hope $350 is worth karma. read more

Mark is so far the best inspector I have ever worked with. I am an out of state investor and went to Indianapolis to purchase rental properties. I was in Indy for 3 days and Mark did inspections on Saturday and Sunday for 2 houses that I was under contract with. My wife and I needed an inspection on a new home we are getting ready to close on next week, and Mark's work exceeded all our expectations. Mark spent about an hour checking out the exterior of the house, even though it was only 5' outside! When he went through the interior, he covered every room, checked every wall, tested outlets, closet, covered mechanicals, and notified us if/when he came across any issues we needed to discuss. Since its a new house, there were no major problems, just the usual things you find when contstruction has been completed. He spent another hour going over the issues, pointing out any potential code problems (there were't any) and recommending what may need to be done by the builder. His final report was very detailed, covered everything we discussed, and was completed in time for our walk-through the very next day. My wife and I spent the first hour of the walk-through talking about the finsings with the Ryan Homes project manager, so the inspection was a huge help! I'm an avid Yelp user, but rarely write reviews. In this case, I definitely wanted to share how great Mark White was for us. As first time home buyers purchasing a sizable property, we really needed an inspector to walk us through the ins and outs of the home, what to look for, what items were critical, what could wait, etc etc. Mark did that for us and then more. As we walked through the home, he pointed out several items that, while not critical and would not necessarily affect the value of the home, were things we should write down and work on in the future. He also explained in great detail the major items that he recommended we have fixed before we take possession. Not only was his report very detailed and thorough, but it was also accompanied with very helpful reference materials regarding home maintenance and upkeep. All of this for a very competitive price! Lastly, Mark was willing to come back out, on relatively short notice, for a re-inspect the morning of the closing to ensure all the items were fixed as expected. Without casting aspersions, Whites Inspection is a total joke! And, he makes good money by simply showing up, taking some notes, then inputting the age of real estate into his computer software. Apparently, he took online computer courses to become a home inspector. All the information provided, comes from a computer program that goes by the age of the home and NOT the actual condition. He provides many, many pages of computer generated information that has nothing to do with the actual condition of the home but rather what "might" happen due to the age. Throughout the information, you are reminded that he is not responsible for many topics the computer generated program discusses. Apparently, to avoid legal action against him, he mentions everything that may, or may not, go wrong with the home relying on the age and not the condition. You can find a real home inspector, who knows all about the latest regulations and laws concerning your real estate, at a much better price. An inspector that actually knows how to thoroughly inspect a home. This guy actually described a cobweb on the ceiling as "minor damage." From reading his "report" and all the excessive errors, it was apparent he didn't know what he was doing. Do yourself a favor and find someone whose been in the business and knows how to actually inspect a home. When purchasing a home, you really need someone who is knowledgeable and doesn't need to rely on computer programs that generates what "might" happen due to the age of the home. Mark White, and White's Home Inspection is truly a rare business within the Home Improvement space. The most outstanding characteristic about Mark is his integrity and fairness. Mark has inspected 3 houses for my family, along with other homes for friends and family. We contacted Mark as first time home buyers, and his level of knowledge and depth of experience has saved our family from purchasing properties that looked great on the surface, but had deeper issues hidden beneath. One specific example of Mark's insight occurred during an inspection for a home that looked beautiful inside and out, and had all the modern design etc. Mark's instincts lead him to notice a subtle black residue inside the sash of a window frame where others may not have thought to look. Mark's encouraged us to inquire about the home's history from the neighbors before placing any offers. Mark's insight was correct as we found out the entire home's interior was burned due to a fire caused by a negligent previous homeowner and was recently remodeled. We had a pretty great experience with Mark. We bought new construction so we started out with a pre-drywall inspection and ended with a final inspection. Mark is on time, super nice, and takes the time to create a great thorough report. He explains things to you throughout the inspection so you know and understand what he's looking for. He wants you to be in control and have the knowledge of what's going on in your home. Mark is very flexible. The only issue we did have with Mark was sometimes with communication. Basically Mark is running this whole operation so he's got to do a bunch of inspections throughout Indy during the day and then he has to go home and write up the reports at night. Since he is so busy throughout the day, he probably won't answer your call or text until the end of the day. Understandable - when he's at an inspection, I would want him to be concentrated 100% on that home. I highly encourage Mark to anyone looking for a home inspector (even for new construction). He also does several other lines of work like radon testing. I think working with small, local businesses like White's Home Inspection, gives you a better 1:1 experience at such a reasonable price. Mark at White's Home inspection was excellent. He was timely and listened to all of my concerns and addressed every concern. He informed me that I had a right to be present for my potential new home inspection. He had a very thorough inspection report with pictures of home deficits and categorized them according to mild, moderate or severe problems and whether it could be fixed by a professional or ourselves. His report informed us on whether there were safety issues or major structural concerns. He found major structure damage and was able to refer us to experts. I bought a new home in Westfield, IN in December 2015. Mark White was one of two home inspectors recommended to me by a realtor that I was also working with. Mark was able to get out to the home and produce his report quickly. Even though the home was brand new, Mark didn't cut any corners, and did an excellent job.
