our accommodations were not as advertised at all! We were instructed to go down the street to an ancillary building. we had booked a room. the carpet was stained and patched together. we had to go to Walmart and purchase towels and blankets. the towels were old and threadbare and there were NO blankets. The unit appeared to have a living room that was just filled up with beds, a sofa and misc other furniture. the tv was tiny and mounted on a wall that could not be viewed from the 2 queen beds. Thekitchen had a mini fridge ( not a standard size), there were no dish towels or even paper towels! when we called with questions no assistance was offered. there was no one on property to address concerns. overall AWFUL experience

They answered right away and were not only extremely nice but very accommodating as well. Was the perfect place to lay our head for the night and it was a wonderful experience . 10/10 would absolutely stay here again.

They include: 2 queen sized beds 1 bedside nightstand 1 entertainment center with 3 pull out drawers and large screen tv 1 round table with 2 chairs 2 Adirondack chairs outside of the room 1 air conditioning unit 1 microwave 1 mini fridge 1 coffee maker with 2 (actual) mugs Bathrooms included: about 4 of each size towel (washcloth, hand towel, bath towel) 1 floor towel 1 travel sized shampoo Like another reviewer said- this is the last building in Lincoln before you head out into the wilderness. Perfect for us - because we bought land in said wilderness. Lol. We were staying in Bangor on previous trips but this motel saved us about 45 minutes. And it's close to Walmart, rite aid, gas, restaurants, shops, etc. The room costed us less than $90. Breakfast at the Timberhouse Restaurant costed us $21 for 2 adults and 1 child. So we still saved money (also time and gas) than if we had stayed at a Ramada or holiday inn in Bangor. Jan, who takes care of the front desk, was very friendly and we will DEFINITELY be coming back!!

For a hotel complimentary premade breakfast, theirs was excellent and one of the best we'd ever had. Lots of bacon. They had a very cool touchless pancake maker. Cons: The décor is very dated - we stayed on the 3rd floor that was decorated with a long row of first lady photos along both sides of the corridor hall - honestly it felt like something out of the Shining. There were odd sinks in the hallway near the elevator. The ice machine on the 1st floor was great but the ice machine on the 3rd floor didn't work and on the 2nd floor did not produce a lot of ice. The spa is tiny and no children allowed and the swimming pool is not connected to the hotel but in the parking lot. We wish they'd start the breakfast at 6am on weekends - we had an adventure planned so we had to leave at 7am when the breakfast just opened so we missed that morning. Keep perspective - this is not a posh modern hotel. Once you get used to its oddness, the hotel is a good, more affordable place for a good night's rest. We needed a hotel in Bangor ME for Labor Day Weekend - we checked the major chain hotels and the prices were all super expensive as it looks like they doubled their prices for the holiday weekend. Best Western White House Inn was the most affordable of what we could find. We noticed when we google mapped the hotel location, it was listed in Hampden ME as they are closer to Hampden but the Bangor address must be more desirable.

This place came up on a Google search for affordable cabin/camping near Baxter State Park and Mount…read moreKatahdin. It was pretty decent for the price. My boyfriend and I booked two nights here - one for the night before the Katahdin hike, and one for after. It was kind of hard to get in touch with the owner- we had to leave a couple voicemails, and we almost wondered if the place was no longer functioning. We also tried calling on the day of our drive up to ask about the check in time, and we didn't hear back. That was not ideal. When we arrived, it was sort of confusing; we went to the main building and met the owner, who was friendly. He upgraded us from a $65 a night one bedroom cabin to a two bedroom cabin for no additional charge, which was nice. The cabin itself was great. It was clean, comfortable, and perfect for a basic and cheap place to sleep after a long hike. The wifi was kind of a pain- I couldn't get my phone to connect, but my boyfriend could. That was a downside. The owner said many folks can't connect. I'd work on that. Overall, it was great for the money spent. It's still about half an hour from the Baxter State Park south entrance, but coming back to a soft bed is great. Only other downside was the noise- there's really no insulation in the cabin, so you can hear everyone talking and roasting marshmallows outside. But it's a fun way to spend time in Millinocket!

Does it have 5 star amenities? Absolutely not. Does it have people who dote on every whim that you have? Of course it doesn't. Does it have super nice proprietors who offer you fresh baked goods? Yes it does. Does it have clean safe places to sleep? Absolutely. So there you are. It's a remote part of our country. Enjoy it because we don't have very many of them left. **edit: It seems as though every complaint that I have read comes from somebody that book here through a 3rd or 4th party, My recommendation would be to not do that.

I cannot speak to the restaurant for dinner but breakfast was good but standard for a Garden Inn. Housekeeping did a good job with requests for towels and such. Last year we stayed at the Hampton Inn across…read morethe street (you can find my 4-star review), but were a bit jealous of the restaurant/bar in the Garden Inn across the street. This year, we paid the extra $30 to stay at the HGI (plus another $30 for breakfast, which is free at the Hampton). There were a number of minor disappointments at the HGI but nothing compares to the lack of hot water for a shower in the morning, which is baseline to call yourself a hotel. There's nothing quite like a cold shower after a bad night's sleep. Minor disappointments included that there was nobody at the front desk when we tried to check in at about 6 p.m. There was no bell and after 10 minutes of waiting we had to let ourselves behind the counter to knock on the manager's door. It was also really noisy - sound insulation is terrible, particularly from the hallway, which was a behive of squabbling children and teenagers and banging doors all night long. The toilet was mal-adjusted (the float was set above the fill tube) until I fixed it at about 2:00 a.m.
