The lower floor is mainly a boxing area with punch and speed bags, a weight area and a dedicated space with mats for stretching and fit ball exercises. 20 times smaller than the big gyms around and not as crowded - ideal if you are serious about training and not so much about wasting your time. As an indepedant they are clearly up against the big guys but they have a great selection of bikes from manufacturers like Giant, together with a pretty comprehensive clothing section and a great accessories selection. They also cover the full range of cycling from childrens bikes all the way up to hardcore competition bikes. Parking is not an issue for this shop with plenty of room. As an idenpendant the pricing tends to be be RRP based but whilst its not the cheapest place to get your biking fix their advice / enthusiasm is great, its nice to see what you are buying and I'm a fan of the local businesses.

A fairly decent sports centre offering various workout machines as well as swimming, with very…read morepolite staff. However, the workout machines are often always in use by someone, and the selection is quite limited, probably due to the space taken up by the pools. Also, membership is very expensive, and although it's a great rival to Fitness First, it does have less machines, fewer classes, and more costly, also, a Fitness First membership can be used in most Fitness First gyms worldwide, and they have more facilities than any other gym network. If you don't do swimming and you can get to a Fitness First, it is the better choice. The staff is helpful though, and I know the gym manager here personally. If it's local to you, you've got a bit of money to burn, or you can't make it to a Fitness First, then this is definatly the place for you, and you will enjoy it, but if you're willing to look into alternatives then Fitness First comes more recommended.

For such good facilities there is obviously a price and it was very expensive for myself and my other half to go. As with most people, the novelty of the gym soon wore off so that is the reason we stopped going. However, if you are more dedicated than me then you would do well to join here. On your initial visit, you have a meeting with one of the trainers in the gym who talk you through what you want to achieve from using the gym and they set you a plan (free of charge). They take you around all of the equipment and show you how to use it. What I found was a nice touch is that they remembered our names and always said hello when we went. There is a lovely café there that offers good food (healthy and some non!). The outdoor pool would be superb in the summer months.
