The nurse, anaesthetist and surgeon all saw me within the first hour of arriving and the anaesthetist was incredibly thorough; she talked through my pre-existing conditions and thoroughly checked me over. The technician and post-op nurses were also so friendly and made me feel at ease! Very grateful.

The reception and admin staff are polite and courteous, making efforts to accommodate your appointment and work around your schedule, often calling you back if a more convenient slot becomes available. They are very professional and maintain patient confidentiality, and speak about patients respectfully when talking to each other (which I have seen reception staff fail to do in so many other practices). The waiting rooms are clean and comfortable, displaying useful information and calling you to the surgery rooms via a large screen. There is even an electronic check-in desk where you can sign in for your appointment when the reception desk is very busy. All of the doctors and practice nurses I have seen have been professional and caring, and I would recommend this surgery to anyone living in the catchment area.

One of the largest hospitals in the area, but may feel under-appreciated or underused with the Manchester Royal Infirmary only a short drive away, which is the largest hospital in the country by the number of beds. The hospital was redeveloped in the early 2010s which was much needed, and the refreshed look still feels modern to this day, it is fairly easy to get around the hospital and find where you need to go, the environment is clean, and the staff are friendly, with overly good standards. I did find a huge contrast between certain areas and wings of the hospital, even down to the modern features and comfort of the chairs, but it is the NHS... you can't expect too much. It's surprisingly easy to get through to someone at the hospital's switchboard, and I was passed to my consultant's secretary and appointment line in a matter of minutes, which is how it should be, while other hospitals can be much more inconsistent. Mobile Signal in the hospital is weak, likely down to equipment interfering with the connection. 4*

It was pointing me towards the car park of my local Sainsburys. Was it mad? No! It was completely sane. My new doctor is accessible via the car park of my local Sainsburys. Whaddya know. Bodey Medical Centre is clean, sleek and looks all shiny and new. So there are the usual waiting times, the hanging around, the boredom, but both my experiences here have made up for any bureaucratic annoyances. Basically, twice I have visited Bodey, twice for unpleasant things which are necessary to female health and well-being, and twice I have been impressed. My first appointment was with a female doc, second with a nurse. Both women were calm, friendly and most comforting, and both the nicest people ever to venture quite so intimately about my person apart from the obvious. My first appointment led to a hospital consultation which was handled quickly and efficiently - she said my appointment letter may take up to two weeks to arrive but it appeared in less than one. Similar story with nursey, who said results might take around three weeks but reached my letterbox in a few days. Bodey, seriously! Trinity Medical what-now? Call me fickle but my affections are totes transferred.

The building itself has just undergone some minor renovation and redesign work. There are a few parking spaces outside, though typically some go unused due to the - we'll say "unorthodox" - parking styles of some other drivers. Inside, the building is clean and well maintained with plenty of seating in the waiting area. All the staff are very friendly and very helpful, which is what you'd expect really. There's also a pharmacy attached to the centre, which is a Well (formerly Co-Op) Pharmacy. It's a decent size, the waiting area is a lot better since they've redesigned the place. Would recommend to anyone in the area who needs a GP.

But, I find, as doctor's practices go, this medical centre in Withington is really quite pleasant. It's not a nightmare to get an appointment, doctors are friendly, the clinic is really modern , and there's a handy pharmacy attached so you don't have to go on a treasure hunt through town to pick up your prescription. Well worth signing up to if you're new to the area, or unhappy with your current practice.

That said, it's primary concern is looking after patients in the area. There are two waiting rooms downstairs and one on the first floor where you will find the surgery nurses. It's usually fairly busy and at this time of year you're looking at a two day wait for an appointment (here come the winter ailments). The telephone number places you in a queue, but not a 'telephone' queue as you will find with the large utilities companies: you can expect no more than a 5 minute wait if it's really busy (usually at 8:30am). There is a pharmacy built within the centre so you don't have to trek into the main village for your treatments and medicines.

The building is kinda old and skanky, but friendly in a weird north-of-England type of way. The worst thing about the place is how hard it is to get an appointment. A few years ago the government decided that you should always be able to get an appointment for the same day, which sounds great. However the way Appleton have implemented the edict is that you have to be ready by your phone at 8am ready to press redial over and over again for 30 minutes. If you phone at nine there will be no appointments left. It's like getting a Glastonbury ticket. Tough, but if you're determined you can get it.

Yes the building is a bit depressing and not fit for purpose,,But so what!!!!!
