So now I get emails from her selling her books. The a couple of weeks ago I got an email saying I owe them $100 for missing an appointment. I had canceled that appointment when I found out the prescription was wrong. I never received a reminder email or phone call so I called and they reluctantly said I would not have to pay.

During my initial…read morevisit, Dr. Jason Chiappetta told me he did not want to prescribe any ointment until I was evaluated by a surgeon in the same office. I was referred to Dr. Bearden and was specifically told to bring a driver to that appointment. I saw Dr. Bearden on August 26, approximately 45 minutes after my scheduled 3:50 p.m. appointment time. After the evaluation, Dr. Bearden essentially told me the same thing I had already been told during my previous visit. The only difference was that he prescribed an ointment to be applied three times a day and asked me to return in three weeks to see how it looked. What is especially frustrating is that I was charged another copay and my insurance was billed for what felt like essentially the same evaluation and information I had already received about a week earlier. I do not feel that the second visit provided enough additional care to justify another office charge. Based on this experience, I am extremely dissatisfied with Virginia Eye Institute. I would not recommend this practice based on how my appointment was handled and the way I feel my insurance was billed. If I could give less than one star, I would.

So I called and asked about rescheduling and was asked to give my name and number which I gave to the operator. Waited until the following Monday, still no call back. So on Monday, June 8,2026 I called again, told the operator what happened and I still needed to make an appointment. Her was response was not, sorry for the delay or your inconvenience, but instead she went immediately to name, number and the earliest date I have for you is August 2026, 3 months after my original date. This is terrible customer service. Through no fault of my own apparently I have to wait 3 months because of a computer problem on their end. If I waited until under 24 hours before my appointment they would have tried to charge me. Not even so much as an if they get an opening they will call. Nothing and a very dry attitude about offering any assistance for their poor customer service. During this interim between now and August I need to find another eye doctor's office. I pay good money for services but apparently that doesn't matter to Virginia Eye Institute no matter how big or beautiful their buildings are, it should be more important to provide good customer service and patient services.

I followed the instructions to not wear contacts for 24 hours. I took time off of work, wasted gas…read moreand time, only to be left in the lobby and ignored. I arrived early because I anticipated that there would be paperwork to fill out and didn't want to waste anyone else's time (see how that works)? I was completely ignored for almost 20 minutes. When they finally realized I was there, I was given an "intro-to" video to watch (finished it in 5 minutes), and then was promptly ignored for another half hour. I could barely hear the video because the employee who gave it to me was very loudly flirting with another client -- I could hear everything they were saying with the door closed. Hey hon! I don't blame you. He was adorable. But don't ignore your other clients for 45 minutes. It didn't seem like their flirtation would wrap up anytime soon, and my time is valuable too and had other places to be, so I left. I received ZERO follow-up emails or phone calls. No apologies for wasting my time. Do better, Lasik Vision Institute. I'll find more professional Lasik providers.

Dr. Billmayer was *very* knowledgeable and did things to help me transition from single vision to progressive lenses that others hadn't in the past. I now am in a multi-focal contact that is amazing. On top of that, Andrew the optician called around to get me replacement lenses for my old glasses frames in a couple of *days* instead of weeks. And he did so by tracing my frames instead of taking them. Brenda was also very helpful in getting me started and making me feel welcome. You can try to purchase $40 glasses online, but beware of what you might get. And the staff at Envision will more than earn your business.

Well it has been 2 weeks since I had LASIK done and it has been a life changing experience so far…read more The staff has been wonderful, and the procedure went super fast. Dr. Mullen was my doctor and I he seemed very through to make sure I was a good candidate and that the procedure was going to work well for me. they used more fancy eye equipment and doohickeys then I've ever seen for measurement. I know they are using some new laser tech (sorry don't know the name) but it was able to correct some of my astigmatism so thing have been really clear too. (there is some haloing at night but they say it will clear up in a few months. really look forward to swimming later in the summer, but I've enjoy riding my motorcycle and using regular sunglasses. The price was very affordable (to me anyway) for the new procedure. Was glad I was refereed to him and his staff.
