You think you know your local places and shops, but still everyday end up finding something that just knocks your socks off. That is how I describe Bethnal Green road! And it happened again today. I spotted a shop called Wholesale Tropicals. Excuse me? Next to Indian jewelry shop and kebab house.. they sell aquarium fishes. The shop just went on and on, with amazing aquariums with any possible colorful tropical fish sort there is. Better than a zoo if you ask me! On my neighbor! The cutest thing however was the miniature tiny turtles placed on a aquarium on the till. Go and take a look if you don't believe me. read more

I love fish! So I was able to spend a most pleasant half hour checking out the different fish for sale, particularly the little Neons and their wonderful colours. Wasn't here to buy anything of course, just treated the place like a mini aquarium and went around looking at the exhibits. read more

This family run business is the place to go for all of your fish needs. Tropical, salt water and fresh water fish, food, aquariums, plants, equipment. If you need any advice from the tank to species ask the staff and they have all of the knowledge that you need. Make a day of it. Better than visiting an aquarium and free to look at.! read more

The fish looked in poor health and they were over crowed in small tanks, packed like sardines. They mad me sad and upset. This shop had a tank that looked like it was 2ft x 1ft x 1ft and it had 20 stingray fish in it and they were sitting on top of each other. I asked a member of staff about this and he replied that if I don't like it then to get lost in an aggressive voice. I was shocked and just left the shop. Avoid at all costs. These people do not care about the fish in their care or customers. read more

I have to agree with some of the bad experiences below. The staff are very rude and make fun of customers when their backs are turned even though they can be heard because it is a very small shop. As beginners in fish keeping we all had to start somewhere. There are better aquatic shops to spend your hard earned money and at least it would be appreciated. read more

I visited this shop to buy some fish for my sons aquarium as a birthday present. It took ages for somebody to serve me despite asking different staff a few times, they were just hanging around the counter talking about football or something. Eventually, after 15 minutes of waiting a teenage boy was sent to serve me, he seemed fed up that he had got the short straw and was unhelpful when I asked him about fish suitability for my sons aquarium. In the end I just left without purchasing anything. As I left no one at the counter bothered to ask if I was served or even said bye. Rather than hanging around doing nothing the staff should attend to the fish in their care, many aquariums had dead fish floating around. After searching the net I found another shop and was very pleased with the help and service I received and my sons are very happy. I will consider this second shop as my local fish shop. read more

I drove around for 25 minutes trying to find a parking space, not even pay spaces were available and many were reserved for businesses or market traders. Eventually found a pay and display space 15 minutes walk away from shop. I was surprised that they did not stock any marine fish. I keep marine reef tanks and they cant can't be called a aquatic shop if they only cater for half the hobby. Very small shop with the same tropical live stock as everywhere else. I wasted my only day off. The staff are also rude and tend to ignore you!!!!! read more

Bought 15 Rasbora Kubotai for a steep £70 from here and took them to Glasgow (for a heavily planted aquarium that gets thorough weekly maintenance and has perfect water conditions) which i was assured by the shopkeepers would be safe. Lost 5 the first night and another 2 over the next couple days. Was then given store credit of another 5 kubotai's (plus bought 2 more) and the exact same thing happened but on a larger scale, killing 1 of the origial kubotai's that i had bought before. After calling the shop to explain what had hapened, i was immediately accused of criticising the shop, and spoken to in a condescending manner about how it was my fault and how they have been around for 50 years and are basically never the ones to blame. This seems to me to be the classic case that many aquarium shops have, they keep too many fish for an under staffed, cramped environment and are not able to look after them properly, so fish get sick and are sold to customers who are met with death and huges losses of money. Would not reccomend purchasing from here, they seem nice at first but the owner is agressive and will not admit any wrongdoing, which you probably will have to deal with when you inevitably ask for a refund on your dead fish. read more

The staff were rude and unresponsive despite the three of them chatting among themselves. The tanks contained dead fish and the general maintenance of the aquariums was negligible. I would avoid at all costs, if you want your fish to survive. read more

If you're into fish-keeping, this is the shop you should visit;- I travel over 70 miles one way in order to go to this wonderful establishment, & always take as much money as I can raise, yet there are always more discoveries than my budget can stretch to.. Great staff, great fish, great shop. Long may it flourish! read more
