There's also quite a few posh twats to elbow out the way in the queue for the bar.

The chicken was okay, maybe a little overcooked. The mains were tasty, though the burger says served with onion rings and there were only two tiny rings. Technically not lying, but a misrepresentation for sure. The desserts were also fine. My biggest gripe was with the app that you used for ordering. It was very scattered, and not a great experience. It seemed to be the only way to order, as I said the table service was limited to the drop off. If you're going to force me into an app experience, at least make a better app.

Eating outside is the place to be on a beautiful day. It's open seating. You order at the bar and they bring your order to you. The tables are numbered and you provide your table number at time of order. We started with two pints of Tennants. Tennent's Lager is Scotland's best-selling pale lager. It reminded me of Innis and Gunn with a slight citrus taste. We then ordered salt and pepper fried calamari as a starter. It was OK, kind of bland. The Asian dipping sauce did give it a bit of life. Jan ordered the fish and chips. I thought it was the best we've had in Ireland and Scotland. I ordered the chicken sandwich on a Chibatta bun and it was below average. The chicken was cut into small strips, like you might find in a salad. I had a couple of bites that were all bread and it was difficult to keep the small strips on the sandwich. The bacon on the sandwich did little to help the overall flavor of the sandwich. Service is based on placing your order at the bar and waiting for it to be delivered. When the server delivered our order we were too busy looking at the food to notice that we had no ketchup or malt vinegar. Jan had to go and hunt that down in the restrauant. We arrived hungry and thirsty and both were taken care of, so mission accomplished.

Again, lot's of GF options -- I was able to get the calamari, which was tender and delicious, and it was served with chips that were GF, with salt and pepper seasoning. My husband had a mug of the Cullen Skink with chips -- also very good, hot and filling. The menu has many, many options, and the portions are very good sized. Lots of beer on draft, and a good selection of ciders. Leith is a beautiful place to explore, and this was a lovely lunch and respite from the intermittent rain. Highly recommend making a stop at Teuchters Landing!

It's a bit cold out there but we wanted to sit outside. The other outdoor dining area with heat lamps was more pub-like which also meant people smoking outdoors. To the dock we went! The husband got the fish and chips, and of the five fish and chips he ordered during our 2 and a half weeks in the U.K. this one was neither the best nor the worst. (But still good!) The daughter and I were only lukewarm on our scallops. But what made a lasting impression was the mac n cheese served in a mug. The son and I still talk about it. We think it was the BEST MAC N CHEESE WE'VE EVER HAD. All others are put to shame now. 5 stars - mac n cheese 3 stars - other food

Today when the Red route took us to old town and I saw The White Hart Inn I said to Jan let's do an early dinner there and she agreed. We continued the route and stayed on back to the stop in old town. We love Alfresco dining but it was too cold and windy today. We went inside and the restrauant was packed. It's open seating. No hostess, no sign in. We were lucky and just happened to be standing next to a table that opened. We had been there about 5 minutes. The restaurant/ pub is rich in history, established in 1516. It's small with limited bar seating and prehaps 8 to 10 tables. It is noisy from conversation, tosting and music, but we didn't have a hard time communicating. It has a great vibe. It's a fun venue and popular with the locals. The menu is not large and has several Scottish offerings. To start, Jan was cold and wanted an Irish coffee. I ordered an Innis and Gunn larger. Innis & Gunn is an acclaimed Scottish brewery founded in 2003 in Edinburgh. It had a slightly citrus flavor. Jan ordered muscles and I ordered the steak and ale pie, served with a charred Hispi cabbage wedge, buttered mash and Merlot beef dripping gravy. It was very tasty, very robust flavor. I loved the cabbage; great flavor. I had to look up hispi cabbage and it is a variety of green cabbage. The muscles were good and the broth very nice. We had a lovely time and a good meal. Our good luck at freelancing dining venues while we explore Ireland and Scotland continues.
