We made our way to this camp ground for the long weekend. This is the same place that I use to…read morespend my summers at with my Grandpa when I was a kid. We were also there 7 years ago(I went with just my parents). Well, everything has changed and it's gone down hill. The beach is not taken care of any more. The grass leading to the beach was not cut, the ramp down was not washed or rinsed down at all and the sand was full of poop, debris, and rocks. Before it was white sand with a bit of debris but this is not what it was. The campground has power stalls or ones with no power, it has some cabins and tenting stalls. There is no privacy any more from stall to stall, and even while we were about to eat lunch the staff started walking through our campsite while doing measurements. I understand that there is maintenance and having to make sure everything is in order, but not while someone is in the stall. The campground use to have a playground for kids, but it has been removed. My daughter was playing in the sand at the end of our camp stall and a staff went up to her and told her she was not allowed. 1. She is 7, please speak to an adult, and 2. It's sand.... she was making a sand castle.... I don't see the problem. There are washrooms with running water and a shower house, but there is only one for the whole campground and no other outhouses available besides at the beach which is a good 20 minute walk away. The women's washroom seemed updated and new, but according to family members, the men's washroom was out dated and the roof is caving in with mold showing. Also, the washrooms were cleaned every day in the morning. It would be a better idea to have them done twice a day during busy times (imo). The good thing about the showers is that a token ($2) lasts approximately two minutes, and you can turn it off and the time will not continue. So, while you soap up you can turn it off and it won't continue to run. There were 4 showers and they were updated. A suggestion would be a rubber bath mat so that when you step out your feet aren't sopping wet and maybe a bench so you can sit while you get dressed. The boat launch is well taken care of and is easy to us, but they should extend the dock so that on busy days (like long weekends) you can actually launch your boat and move out of the way to the end of the dock when going to park and not hold anyone up. The lake is beautiful and it's good fishing. We caught a few fish (we did catch and release) and the water is clean and clear. Fishing is definitely a must on this lake! I would like to go back, but there are a few things that could be fixed first, especially since even in just 7 years the beach has gone downhill so much.

Very disappointed in the overall experience. We booked a modern cabin for the long weekend and made…read morethe drive from Edmonton. I had questions about the facility and the owner was helpful but insisted I pay the $50 "cleaning fee" for having a pet. I didn't agree with it but paid the 50% deposit and booked the cabin on Friday afternoon, for the next days arrival. But once I had to sign the Agreement and pay the deposit, I had a few more questions. After that point, the owner never made herself available to me at all. I was told there was a great dock where we could set up our chairs and fish from. We purchased the licenses but upon arrival we couldn't find this so-called fishing dock. We asked another guest but he insisted the only docks there was the little dock at the boat launch and the even littler dock near a small patch of sand I'm guessing they call a beach. What a complete disappointment. The dock wasn't even wide enough to barely fit two people walking side by side. It was so covered in bird feces that it was too slippery and hazardous to walk on. There was definitely not enough room to open up chairs. I felt very silly for being mislead. As for the check-in, the store/office was 10 minutes from closing. Much to our surprise we find out there was a fire ban put in effect the day before. If the owner would have simply called me back or gave me full disclosure when I was booking it, I would have definitely stayed in Alberta!! We were asked to pay balance owing immediately instead of during checkout. Again, felt like getting our money was their only priority. We were given keys and pointed towards where the cabin was. I expressed my dissatisfaction over the pet fee and the young girl working suggested we bring our 4 pound Yorkie (shed free, dander free) to show the owner since she told us the cleaning fee was for cleaning dog hair which obviously didn't apply. I asked when was the owner going to be in and she said "I'm not sure" We weren't given any helpful information about the site. No map. No instructions, rules, access hours etc. Nothing. Fast forward to checkout and again, no owner. We were extremely upset over our cabin having a smashed window which was covered up by an old dusty curtain. I could have seriously cut my hand open. I still wanted to discuss the PET fee and other annoyances but the girl wasn't having it. She gave us complete attitude and treated us with disrespect. This place is clearly all about the money. On our way out, my husband said not to bother cause they just don't give a s**t. We had no idea where we were supposed to take our garbage. I left the cabin in a cleaner state than we found it. Overall the site is too open. No privacy and the owner will say just about anything to get your money. I'll never go back. There's no beach. The whole weekend we saw maybe 4 other guests. There was NOTHING to do. My husband and I went alone - no grandkids with us but now I know I'd never bring them. There's no park and not even a frisbee area set up. Or horseshoes. Or croquet. Nothing. Our coffee maker didn't work. Our toilet opening wouldnt close properly. The fridge was too warm but too scared to do anything about it due to the threatening letter taped to the front stating that if you turn the temperature up, you'll break the fridge and get charged for a new one. The entire decor is rustic, as it should be, but it could be a little more modern as in the name of the cabin. It's far too dated and the washroom floor was mush. Very gross.
