It showcases galleries for science, military, technology, space, art, history and a lot more. The museum features a 4D earthquake simulation, displays of military aircraft, vehicles, equipment and uniforms, dinosaurs, fossils and prehistoric artifacts, a theater and an observation tower. The heritage park have beautifully extensive landscaped area that have a man made river, waferfall, bridges, and water features. It also built an early 20th century town with a working gristmill and windmill, beautiful gardens, 19th century frontier settlement, 120 year old church, and old train station and depot. A lot of learning experience and knowledge will be gained from the really cool and fascinating exhibits displayed all over the property. There is a fastfood store inside in case you get hungry or thirsty with lots of dining tables and chairs in the airconditioned room. Check it out!

We went with three different generations of our family and all three had a great time. (And all three generations went down the massive multi-story indoor slide!!!) The grounds are LOVELY and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day to explore all the outdoor exhibits. Our favorite indoor exhibit was the torture chamber! How fascinating!!! And the kids absolutely loved the water play on the highest level! I feel like this is a place you can visit over and over again and not see it all or have a new experience each time. If you're in the area: do give it a try! I bet you'll find something to enjoy.

October 23, 2021 Wow…read morethis place is so cool! What a perfect stop to let the kids run about on this rainy day. Downstairs is designed more for younger kids. Upstairs designed more for kids 8 and above. Supervision is mandatory. Lots of themed rooms for kids to learn through play. There's a garden room with big water tables. An auto shop for the car enthusiasts. A farm where you can "milk"a cow (fake cow &water). A grocery store where the kids can shop and be the cashier. A veterinarian pet shop. Fire department. Well baby check office. There are cool tubes with air that suck up handkerchiefs and tunnel above your head and shoot out from the ceiling. Musical rooms. Hair styling room. A theater room complete with a stage and curtain! There's a Lego wall. And rubber band wall to make art. A small real plane to climb in and imagine flying over fields. Really too much to list. But wow! Great entertainment for kids (and parents) of all ages. Covid19 protocol: Bathrooms were clean. Hands sanitizer was placed all over both upstairs and downstairs. Employees wore masks. Patrons were strongly recommended to wear masks, although most didn't. Staff picked up several times while we were there.. although i didn't notice any surface cleaning. Now my cooty radar was a little high, but i get that way in any type of kids play area. I made sure my kids sanitized hands after each room and we washed hands before leaving. Lots of touchable surfaces. Pre pandemic, i wouldn't think much about it, but current pandemic, I just am a little more leery. So go with that in mind. And don't come if you or anyone is sick. Above all.. ENJOY! Very cool place.

I'm a pretty big fan of off-the-wall, random attractions in the middle of nowhere. The Super Museum…read morefalls perfectly in that category! Know ahead of time that Metropolis, IL is cute and charming as heck. But besides this, there is pretty much nothing else to do besides Harrah's Casino, so I'd recommend it more as a road trip stop rather than spending a weekend here. You can easily be in and out within 2 hours max. The Super Museum, however, was a LOT more than I expected! This collection of Superman memorabilia is insane, and has so many pieces that are decades old, from many of the films, and some random, quirky stuff. The tickets were only about 8 bucks and you can spend as long as you'd like in there. They've got a pretty awesome gift shop, too! This is a really neat attraction to stop at if you're driving through Southern Illinois!

I was really excited to finally visit the Superman Museum in Metropolis, but the experience left me…read morefeeling pretty let down. In their defense, it was a Sunday afternoon and most things in town were closed -- which is understandable -- but the museum itself was open. I stepped into the gift shop first and immediately felt overwhelmed by the sheer volume of Superman merchandise. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Superman fan, but most of it felt like stuff I could easily find online. After wandering around the shop for a bit, I honestly lost interest and never even bought a ticket to see the actual museum exhibits. The town itself does have some nice touches -- there are several cool murals and statues scattered around, which were highlights. Unfortunately, the place felt like a bit of a ghost town that day, which made the whole experience fall flat. I'll probably give it another shot during their annual fair or on a weekday when more is open, but it'll be a while before I make the trip back. If you're a huge Superman fan, it might still be worth checking out, but manage your expectations -- especially if visiting on a Sunday afternoon. ----UPDATE---- After the staff reached out, I decided to bump up my review. Their passion for the museum really came through and I appreciated the response. As a huge Superman fan who grew up watching the original Christopher Reeve movies in theaters and collecting the classic TV shows, I expected something a little different. I'll definitely visit again on a weekday -- I'm sure the experience will be much better when I skip the gift shop and go straight into the museum. The gift shop was well stocked, but I personally wasn't looking to add more items to my collection. I mainly wanted to see old props, costumes, and classic collectible from the shows/movies and old toys.
