However, exam stress led me to pause my membership and then as I completed uni I could no longer afford the extortionate £140/ month fee and decided to cancel. (unemployed with no income). BUT, the tiniest small print in the contract included a 12 month notice period needed. meaning I now owed over £1000 for a gym I wont use and cannot even afford the monthly payment. I have explained this to them with proof of a negative bank balance, however all they could offer was to say that the would send debt collectors after me (an unemployed student with no income). a horrendous way to treat customers.

Lovely pool, (not too cold for the old boy), that has a steam room, sauna and spa all built in. (I thought a steam room was a sauna)!! Fabulous restaurant but a little on the pricey side ie £6.95 for a Cheese Jacket..errr! Coffee's well priced. Quite a busy Gym but pretty quiet mid-pm. I've been a member of Max Strength for the past five months. I'm a long time gym goer but always…read moreseems to get bored and de-motivated when I didn't get the results that I wanted. Max Strength offer group training sessions, so you get the benefit and knowledge of personal trainer without the crazy cost! Groups are still pretty small, and you get quite a good team spirit going after a few sessions together. They offer both outdoor and indoor boot camp sessions, along with strength training. The guys know what they are doing, so after a mere 40 minutes I get a much better workout than pounding the machines at the gym for hours and not really knowing what to do! I feel stronger, I have lots more energy and I'm leaner to the tune of almost two dress sizes. The sun always seems to shine on our Saturday morning boot camps, and working out in the open air is lovely!

Not only because I'm here all the time, but because the people that run/own the place and the members have made me feel that way. The owners are wonderful - very well versed in fitness, and provide excellent workouts on a daily basis. The members are beyond friendly, helpful, kind, and thoughtful. I really cannot say enough good things about this place. Should you find yourself in Worthing (or Littlehampton - where there will be a NEW Smart Performance Crossfit) and need a great team of people to help you achieve your fitness goals - look no further. Smart Performance Crossfit is as good as it gets. I'm heading back to the States in a few short weeks, and what I'm going to miss most is SF Crossfit. Thanks again for taking me in guys - you will be missed. I might go cry now...

Be careful when joining, check t&c's very carefully-3 month cancellation is required! They don't care about the members they just want numbers and money. Staff that run classes and in gym are excellent and very helpful and supportive, just the big bosses who don't care.

I loved my time at this Gym…read more The staff are so friendly and helpful and the facilities are great too! The building itself doesn't much look like it's a gym from the outside (I was living in Rainham for 4 years before I actually knew what it was! I thought it was part of the peoples home next door. Oh dear). It's a lovely old grade 2 listed building, think I was told it was 300 or so years old. But inside is nice and nicely air conditioned throughout. It's not your typical gym where everything is all in one room and you feel like you're being watched by everyone around you. It is over 2 floors and has numerous rooms all with separated equipment so if you're uncomfortable about being seen working out by others it's easy find a quiet room where you can go about your exercise without interruption. Changing rooms are nice and clean with sun showers which you need to book in to use but they're almost alway's available when you want them . The spa, sauna and steam room are also located downstairs which had a refit just before I left this gym (through emigrating, not anything against them) which unfortunately opened the week I left. urrghh. So I didn't get to see it but I heard it is great. The Trainers here are so friendly and as part of membership (if you choose to) you get regular meetings where you'll get weighed, measured and discuss any training concerns you might have which is really helpful if you have specific goals as they're all about helping you reach them. You can also get one on one Personal Training sessions for a small extra charge (I think £25 but are well worth it). A couple of classes are also available to take part in which you need to book in advance. While I was a member it was just Circuit Training and Leg's, Bum's and Tum's but was talk of other's. They also have a qualified beauty team on hand for the usual waxing, facials, manicure, pedicure, massage ect. Excellent for a bit of pampering after a hard workout. I enjoyed this gym so much that with the encouragement of the team I qualified as a Fitness Instructor myself - and took the course with them. Way better than any of the other bigger named gym's in the area.

The outside is festooned with hanging baskets, and the interior has an appropriately 'Olde Worlde' feel, with lots of nooks and crannies. The garden at the back is equally attractive, and a lovely spot for a summer pint. It does good traditional pub food, a changing selection of real ales (including Harvey's). There's also en-suite accommodation, although I've not stayed here. The main downside is that it is often chock-full of tourists, and it's pricier than other pubs in the area. But then, you're paying for all that greenery!

This is a wonderful place to head to in the summer. It quite literally takes your breath away. Every different kind of plant is in there including strawberries. Obviously the kitchen takes full advantage of its doorstep suppliers! To top it off, there's a small stream at the bottom of the garden which if your lucky, you'll see the local swans gliding by. The food is excellent here. I had the ploughmans last time as it was too hot for anything else but the chef does have some impressive specials depending on the season. They offer rooms here too if you've had one to many beers to drive. £60 for a single room which, considering the surroundings, is a bargain!
