Came here on a Saturday night for the $15 pitchers and $5 mixed drinks specials. We came a bit early for drinking so finding a seat and table wasn't a problem for us, but I could tell as the night went on, the place got more crowded. The place is pretty dimly lit but has a cool vibe. I really enjoyed the music they had playing too! The bartender was really nice and gave us a few suggestions for our drinks. Pitchers are equal to roughly 3-4 full glasses. Mixed drinks are pretty decent, not the highest quality of alcohol used, but why do you expect for $5 (or as low as $2.75 on Thursday)? If you feel like drinking early, getting cheap drinks, and listening to great music, this is the right place for you!

Wide Open is one of those bars, that despite it's grungy appearance and loud music, you keep coming back to because it's SO CHEAP. There are daily specials EVERY day of the week, so there's always a cheep and cheerful drink to be had. While there is no patio to speak of, during the summer months the doors are open permanently, and if you're lucky you'll get a table close to the front. There's no table service so try to squeeze into a free spot at the bar and get your order in while you can! Rumour has it that the space used to be an alleyway which someone put a roof over. It kind of makes sense since it's super narrow. Their drinks menu is simple - lager or light beer on draft, the usual bar rail and some bottled beer. Outside food is totally cool, and there's always a game on the TVs if the conversation gets boring. A quick summary of their daily specials: Monday: $4 everything Tuesday: $3.50 Amsterdam bottles Wednesday: $4 mixed drinks, $5 pints Thursday: $2.75 drinks 4-8pm Friday/Saturday: $15 pitchers, $5 mixed drinks Sunday: $3.50 rail/domestic bottled beer Everyday: $5 shots of Jim Beam This place is a hidden gem and is worth a visit, just don't expect five star service. The patrons are also an eclectic bunch, pretty much every facet of society, all of whom are there for one reason only - cheap drinks! PS: Avoid the washrooms - totally gross.

This list may or may not be accurate. I know the sign outside usually tells u the specials each day.

Cheap drinks. Good service. Narrow, dark space. Really loud music. Graffiti everywhere. Afraid of the bathroom.

I know why they call this wide open. You see their prices and your eyes goes wide open. They probably have the cheapest drinks around There are no servers here and seats get taken up very quick. On a busy night, it is difficult to order since there are maximum only two bartenders at a time. Space is very small tho, difficult to manspread. If you get triggered easily, this is the place for you #nomanspreadingzone

The drinks here are really cheap! They have daily specials costing about $3-5. The place is dark and very loud and the seats are quite limited. Its a good place to grab drinks with friends if you're a student on a budget. I believe this place is cash only.

Quick photo of the dive, but yet still cool Open Wide bar. Great small local spot. Very small... but with cheap booze.

DIVEUX MAXIMUS. Yeah, this is a dive and a half. I had heard good things about this place and I was thinking of giving it a try, so I went to meet a friend here for a drink and there are two things you must remember: One? Again... yup, this is A dive. Two? Once you are there you will certainly catch the irony in the name. As this place is as narrow as a the world perspective of a fundamental Baptist. Beer is generally cheap, lots of graffiti line the walls, a number of tv's above the bar playing sports but there is not a lot of seating. On that last note, this locale is just so-so and not much different than a place like Sneaky Dee's... except for the lack of space. Yet... could I see this place getting packed? Totally. It has that run down, should-make-you-question-the-hygiene-of-the-joint... Mmm... or that je ne sais quoi that acts like catnip to cats that hipters simply can't say no to. All in all, not a bad place to drop by from time to time if you are meeting a few friends. Just not too many.

This is a dive bar! Only come here for cheap drinks in a Cody environment! Do not come here for food/ or clean washrooms/ pick up women/ to be seen drinking a martini! CHEAP drinks that is all! It's very narrow, long bar (one bar) not too many seats and most are repeat customers. This place has some history behind it too, but u got google for that!

Service: This is your typical dive bar where there's only one bartender. On a busy night it would be hard trying to get a drink, as everyone crowds around the bar. But the bartender is friendly and welcoming. Ambiance: This bar is super narrow and tight. There are limited seating, and only a small pathway for you to walk through. You have to go early to try to get a spot, or else you'll be standing in that narrow pathway. Drinks: There's only the house brew on tap (Blonde or Ale). It's good, if you are looking for a deal, as it only cost $5 a pint with tax! But beware it maybe accompanied by the worst hangover the morning after. Drink plenty of water!

On a balmy summer night, a group of friends and I stumbled into Wide Open and I discovered what was to become one of my favourite little bars in the city. Little is quite the understatement though. Wide open stands wedged between two gigantic, high rise type apartment and commercial buildings in the Queen/Spadina hood. (Think of that one-story home in the middle of the city that refused to sell to a big condo high rise development and looks a little out of place now)... Wide Open is about 50 square feet of fun and awesomeness; a tiny package with a lot to offer! It is a definite come-as-you-are watering hole, fun for a girls night out or a couple of drinks after a long day of work. Saturday night has a great ladies night special; $20 for all you can drink! Wide Open can get pretty crowded as its so tiny inside but it has a great intimate feel. Inside Wide Open, you will find a long bar that takes up about 75% of the place, some seats at the front, and a couple of lounge chairs wedged into the back. All in all, Wide Open is a tiny, fun bar that serves cheap drinks. It's a great place to unwind and get a night started!

Very nondescript outside facade - no sign telling you what it is other than a small "BSC" (for Bovine Sex Club) painted near the door. Hard to miss though as the exterior is made up a punk rock style sculpture of rusted bikes & other assorted ephemera. The interior is similar, visually. Great sound system & chill vibes pervade throughout. Weirdly the stage is right in the entrance of the club, on your left, with a long bar along the right side, heading back. Great, crowd, great location in cool area with lots of restaurants & plenty of parking - both on the street up to 2 hours & extended parking for a flat-rate of CA$20 (~$14 USD) from 6:00pm until the next morning, just 2 blacks away.

Are the beer cans running out? It's possible. But, it's a dive in the way of the old dives. And the acoustics for bands are... not great. But they are a sign of what once was. Without attempting to try to present a front of a time long gone, The Bovine simply exists today as it once did in that time long ago, before Smokes stickers, before iPhones, back when people would just go to a bar to talk with those they didn't know the morning prior. Bring cash though, unless you're looking to make some big orders, because credit card is a minimum fifty-dollar spend.
