I'm from Australia where there is a large presence of Korean food. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. It was easy travel on the U-Bahn (tram) from Cologne central station. Welcoming break from all the heavy Bavarian food. Highlights: 1. The service 2. Friendly staff 3. Fresh meat and seafood 4. Unlimited Kim chi and rice buffet. So many different styles! 5. Cheap!! 6. Located away from a touristy area...so you know it's made for locals and not just a fast food place. I will be back again, hungry for more! Only next time I'll definitely make a booking to be safe

An authentic Korean BBQ place located about 15 minutes drive from the Cologne Cathedral. The set…read moremenu consists of: three layered pork belly; sirloin; marinated beef; duck; shrimp; and squid. Bulgogi Haus offered four types of sauces when two is the norm, for varying combinations of flavors. The meats are grilled in front of you on charcoal, and the servers take care to replace the charcoal at least once so that you are not eating burnt pieces of meat. I really liked the concept of having the side dishes buffet-style. It's really a mood-killer when you run out of lettuce or salad in the middle of eating your meats then waiting for your server to refill your salads. The offerings included fried calamari, Korean-sushi, sticky and sweet potatoes, fish cakes, and kimchi. Bulgogi-Haus does not seem to use MSG, even in their yummy kimchi, and I was simply content after the meal without having to reach for extra glasses of water. Kudos for having a coat rack separate from the dining tables so that the coats don't smell like meat after, and kudos for the plum wine/aloe drinks on the house!

Who uses white instead of rye bread? And if no Swiss cheese - leave the cheese as optional. No WiFi. Bet that's been a problem for a while. Add an undrinkable cocktail and you're starting to get the vibe. the most humorous bit was watching a brand new employee (being taught how to put on a half apron!) spill drinks on customers as her tray wobbled, predictably. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

They did a good job with the decor I will say. With that being said it is kind of smokey inside. Not sure what the deal is with the ventilation but you will leave smelling like smoke. As for the food, the Wings were some of the best I have had. They don't have a thick breading on them but they are smoked perfectly. The ribs were ok at best but kinda burned. I think the sauce they put on the ribs that burned in the smoker. The fries were good. Slaw was more mayo based rather than vinegar but didn't expect much with that. They also had Burrata as an appetizer which was interesting considering the concept but the preparation was delicious. If you are craving bbq check it out. Definitely order the wings they are the star of the show.
