This is a delightfully simple restaurant off the beaten track. The food is very simple but well done (try the Hirsch ragout) and service is fast and friendly for a reasonable price). Also try some palatschinken (crepes) for dessert! read more

We might have partied too hard, and they were kind and patient with us even when the behavior was not the best. The breakfast was an absolute joy every morning - loads of options, everything fresh and house-made. The bar was also great, with great bartenders who knew their stuff. Also a shout out to Christian for the massage, expert healing therapy for a sore back.

There is a huge selection of art and design books and magazines to read and look at. The lounge / bar / coffee shop area is super cozy and a wonderful place to sit. The outdoor patio in the sun is worth a million bucks! Absolutely recommend this place! Even just for a drink :)

The most beautiful views & the hotel is modern & beautiful as well. The hotel is tucked into the mountainside which is stunning. We stayed for a drink & dessert but nothing on the lunch menu looked appetizing. Maybe the heat that day & the hike killed our appetites. The hotel has everything you could want, spa, pools, sauna, etc. We didn't see the rooms so only commenting on the great outdoor balcony & views! The staff was super friendly too & they seemed very welcoming. Noticed it was pet friendly even for big pups! Yay! Giving it 4 stars b/c we didn't stay here or eat a meal here.

It's been around in the same family since the 60's and it's a small but beautiful hotel. There are some 14-16 rooms and a restaurant. We had booked for a long weekend package which includes breakfast, two normal dinners and a gourmet dinner. The rooms are fabulous and spacious and well appointed. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Mr and Mrs Maier run the place and Johanna is the head chef at the restaurant. She used to have two Michelin starts and 19 Gault Millau points and was at one time the highest rated female chef in Austria. I believe they have given all that up now and run and nice luxurious place with decent food. Breakfasts were very well done and you basically chose from a menu and things arrived one by one. Dinner was a daily affair and whatever was available in the market or at the hotel. Food was generally good and I enjoyed most of it. Some of it was very bland and the vegetarian choices lacked some creativity. I would come here again. It's cosy, beautiful and has great friendly service. A highlight in Filzmoos. You can just book to come and stay one night or book packages which include dinner and so on. You can also just come here for dinner if you so choose. Tip: try their huge selection of schnapps, excellent :-)

The cafe attached to the bakery serves other items like coffee and breakfast and so on. The bread here is decent and the coffee is average. We ended up buying some bread for breakfast and it was freshly baked and tasted good. The cappuccino here was average. Mauterndorf is a small town and choices are pretty slim. It's a good bakery considering the choice is thin.

My two favorite dinner menu items are 1) the caprese salad, and, 2) the wiener schnitzel. I will return here on my next visit... not only for the exceptionally good room value, but also for the tasty dinner food in the dining room. Special note: some rooms may have a weak wifi signal. When it was discovered my particular room didn't have a strong wifi connection, the front desk immediately installed a wifi repeater in my room in order to boost the wifi signal for me. It worked... and I enjoyed a strong signal throughout my stay.
