Disclaimer: I'm not heavy into opera or know a whole lot about them. However, this place was a WOW moment. Being in Vienna, the most incredible, historical, full of life, music and character, city in the world - a visit to the Opera House was needed. We are so glad we did! They have all kind of seat selections, balcony, floor and even standing for a more budget friendly approach. Our little balcony section was awesome though it had a heavily blocked view we were able to hear everything so clearly plus we had the little screens where you can follow along with the vocals. It was an unforgettable experience and so worth it if you're in Vienna visiting. You can also book tours and learn all about the history of the opera house which I think would be fascinating to learn.

Yes, the end of suor Angelica made me cry, haven't seen that kid stunt in another rendition before. I'm completely on board with the modernization of set design, costuming thing that they're introducing, think that's really cool. HOWEVER, and it's a big, big butt: the sound balance was completely off for me. The singers were amazing, the instrumentalists were amazing, conductor amazing but in the middle of the floor seats you almost couldn't hear the vocalists, esp lower parts of soprano. Bass and tenor parts were mostly fine, don't think there were any alto arias. but man the soprano balance was kind of rough. This could be attributed to a lot of things, I know, but y'all gotta ensure that the listening experience is fire for everyone at that price point. Puccini has such amazing ways of building tension and beauty, and a lot of it was lost for me in this (of course, beautiful) wave of lower strings. OTHER than that, completely perfect. ensemble skills (timing) perfect, drama and acting perfect, and I quite enjoyed the set and costuming. The neon signs were a little on the nose tho lol. minor point - what on earth was the fascism thing in Gianni Schicchi it's been two days and I cannot for the life of me figure out what the point of that was. Im all for inserting stuff like that, but don't really know what the sort of purpose was in relation to the story of Gianni schicchi. maybe my media interp skills need to be refined hmm. (does not affect my rating) 9.8/10, unfortunately. came expecting PERFECTION from the Vienna city opera, can't in good conscience give y'all 5/5 when something so big was off for me :(

She did her best to speak loudly, but with groups of twenty to thirty people, it wasn't always easy to catch everything. The tour was rich in history, highlighting how some of the walls still belong to the original structure, while others were redone after World War II. The opera house itself is stunning, and the acoustics are amazing. We were lucky enough to hear some of a rehearsal during our tour, which was a real treat

The performers were generally top-notch and their Baroque attire was a nice bonus. The staff mostly enforced the "no video" policy. People dress fairly decently here, but you'll find those that consider flip-flops and shorts as proper classical music attire. It's a lovely venue overall, so definitely soak in the history.

I purchased tickets for the Golden Hall through Booking.com in the Superior Orchestra section, and when we picked up the tickets we were upgraded. That was a nice surprise. The view was absolutely perfect. It was an incredible evening from start to finish. The acoustics were phenomenal, and the entire performance was breathtaking. The solo violinist and the female opera singer were true standouts. Their performances felt like pure magic and were among the highlights of the night. The Vienna Mozart Orchestra appeared in beautiful 18th-century period costumes, bringing the music and atmosphere of Mozart's era vividly to life. A truly unforgettable experience and one I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Vienna.

About a dozen musicians, two singers and two dancers. Very entertaining show and it was obvious that all the artists loved what they were doing. We went on a warm day in October, and the room was VERY hot and no air circulation. Big relief to go outside during intermission. No need to dress up for this one, although many did. I had a clear soup ravioli, beef in brown sauce and for dessert, strawberry vanilla mouse.we were also served wine and coffee. I would rate dinner as maybe a 3.5 to 4 star. After dinner, we went to another room and for me this is where the magic happen. The 9 piece ensemble of strings, piano, percussion, played classical music composed by Mozart, Strauss, Beethoven in the city they lived and maybe composed masterpieces being played by very talented musicians. To see the Viennese waltz danced by a elegant dancers in Vienna felt perfection to me. The male and female singers where so delightful in their rendition of classical songs. At the Kursalon, I understood what Vienna is about...it's glorious culture of music that spanned centuries is being performed on this stage for the audience to experience it's notes that stirs your emotion. It's spiritual as I felt a connection to the past, transported by the performance on stage. I fell in love with Vienna.

It was absolutely amazing and captured the audience's attention the entire time. We saw a lovely string quartet concert. We were looking to add a musical performance to our trip…read moreitinerary that was not too pricey. It was a little frustrating because the tickets had "musikverian" in all caps but the concert was actually in the konzerthsus down the street. Our uber was still outside when we realized the mistake so we hopped in and were at the correct hall in under 5 min. There were multiple performances going on at once and we accidentally got ushered into the wrong area. If you don't speak German give yourself plenty of time to find the correct hall. The concert we saw was open seating with no bad seat in the house. The room was small enough that you could see all the musicians very well. There was a brief intermission which served drinks and lite snacks. The program was one euro. Highly recommend so that you can follow along!
