this is a hella fun, cool cocktail lounge on West 6th that my friends & i have been frequenting on Saturday nights. the music/DJs consistently on point with bangers and hype, uppity vibes. the cocktail servers and bartender staff here couldn't be more genuine, kind, accommodating, patient, quick, & knowledgeable. we come in here and act like hooligans n fools, but they always make us feel somewhat classy doing it we typically get one of the handful of booths with bottles, and just boogie n drink the night away....love the bigass disco ball in the middle of the dance floor, the 70s decor + energy, and the low moody lighting. a few sat nights ago, we managed to snag the big private room they have, & had an absolute, 10/10 Top Night!!! get yo groove onnnn read more

From the moment I walked into Wiggle Room, the vibe was uncomfortable. When I went to order two signature cocktails, I was met with eye rolls, dismissive behavior, and overall poor service. When I asked for the names of the drinks, I received a sigh and was spoken to as if I were an inconvenience. My tab was closed without being asked. I checked my receipt due to the lack of service and noticed a 20% automatic gratuity had been added. When I questioned it, the bartender said they have to add it because otherwise no one tips. That's not a guest problem--that's a service problem. Tips are earned based on the service provided. The Strawberry Fields and Watermelon cocktails were actually very good, which makes the attitude and forced gratuity even more unfortunate. With better service, I would have tipped more. Unlike the hustle and bustle of its surrounding neighbors, the Wiggle Room doesn't get overly packed or as bumping as the others. The DJ plays a ton of booty popping throwbacks, but the setting is off. For some, this might be exactly what you're looking for, but I'm out on West Sixth looking for something with more energy. read more

Shout out to the best bartender in Austin... Christian is the man! Him and his crew threw a pop-up Christmas event at the Wiggle Room and it was my first time in the bar. I had the "Not The Gumdrop Buttons" which was a gingerbread-y cocktail that both photogenic and delicious. The vibes here were on point! If you are a White girl Scared of Black, Mexicans or Indians this is the Perfect Place for you. Quick Story - Went out with a few friends (diverse background) and this was the first place we went to. After 30 minutes my friends went to the bathroom, so I was standing near the bar by-myself. In this time a Security Guard came up to me and said I had to go. I asked why and the response was I don't need to give a reason for people like you. I asked what that meant, and he just smiled and didn't respond. That was the most blatant someone has said the N Word to me without actually saying it. Luckily I was sober (1 drink), so I just left. This is honestly a really dingy and dirty space for a buisness that promotes themselves as a place that is "Serving looks", and how the "dance floor is always hot." And to be perfectly real with you this claim that, "The Wiggle Room's got the grooves, the glitter, and the glam.." could not be more further from the truth. I've been a patron to this business countless times not for the location, (because it kinda sucks, no parking, hard to find) or the decor it's giving gross 70 budget motel that hasn't been properly cleaned or refurbished since) or the drinks (everything is so watered down or flat tasting) but for the community it created for queer people to enjoy Drag. When in reality they turn away queer people and our business. After two years of hosting a Drag Show here, the manangement turned away A Team of Drag Queens scheduled for last nights show (4/10) without any notice or pay.... This type of business is disgusting. When she came up to me and asked what I wanted to order I barely could understand her from how much she was slurring her words. This is a little cool cocktail lounge on the West side off of 6th street near the Star Bar. I was told about this place by my muay Thai coach at my gym. I had looked up the menu before coming here and will note the cocktails are a little pricey. I landed on a Singapore sling and my husband got an old fashioned. I loved the old-fashioned even though I am not an old-fashioned gal. The Singapore sling was not overall sweet which I enjoyed even more. The inside and outside vibes were aesthetically pleasing. We sat outside in the lounge area on couches. It would be great for a smaller group. I would also recommend reservations as this place can get busy. We got lucky to get in without them. read more

I'm a bit torn on this place. I had seen it hyped up so much on all of the austin influencer accounts and it was made to look like a groovy disco dancing bar. We were excited and paid the $10 a person to make a reservation a month in advance. That was ridiculous, because when we showed up there was only one other party there, and probably 8 open booths, an empty middle table, and an empty "VIP Lounge". The $40 we paid for our reservation was a complete waste. We asked if we could sit at the larger table in the corner, and we're told that it was the "VIP Lounge" and we would have to pay an extra $50 per person to sit there (mind you, while it was completely empty in there). It's odd that they wouldn't just ask us to buy a bottle or two instead of another waste of an empty $200 ($50 X 4) just for a seating area. The drink menu starts at $15 for every single thing, including the "ranch water on draft". You'd expect the draft item to be at least a little cheaper than everything else? The ranch water was a strong drink though. I got the Saturn cocktail and it was good, but it's a shame to pay $15 for a small glass with so much ice that I took about 3 sips of each drink. The ambiance and decor was a cool western vibe. I especially liked the outdoor patio, but it was freezing the night we visited. The strange thing was that this disco bar had no dance floor, and instead a massive table in the middle of what would be the dance floor. The music was also not what I had expected at all. It was solely country western music, which can be nice sometimes, but they could really use some more dance or bar type music mixed in. Overall I was a little disappointed. If the reservation was free, as all other reservations are in Austin, it would've made a better first impression. It's a cool space but it might be best as a patio spot on a warm day, and not as a pregame or dancing bar. read more

I was impressed with the cocktails and the attention the servers paid to our table...we never had to look for her to order drinks...she would just see that our glasses needed to be freshened up. Sheltered from rain when it was too early for other bars nearby to be open and couldn't quite make out what "wiggle room" is about. For a wiggle room, there wasn't a lot of wiggling. There wasn't even music worth wiggling to, but they did have the appropriate disco lights set up inside that would give the illusion of wiggling. Ordered espresso martinis to start our evening strong (and awake!) and considering our bartender bravely said yes and then proceeded to ask someone for the recipe...we had pretty good espresso martinis! The coffee part could've been stronger IMO but I've noticed coffee around here tends to be weak so it could just be me. We plopped outside in an eclectically decorated (Thai tigers?) outdoor seating area with good heating. read more

My favorite bar/club! We go here after concerts or a downtown dinner. We have visited with friends and they easily accommodate bigger groups. The bar does a good job of keeping lines down and doing whatever they need to do to keep the place moving. Spacious, comfy patio. They have more bathrooms than the bars nearby, which is much appreciated by my small-bladder friends. I always enjoy the music. It's usually a mix of old and new. My favorite was hearing a Robyn song remixed. Wiggle Room is funky, friendly, and fun. Kick it with friends, invite more to join you, and make new friends while you're there. The aesthetic is dope and the cocktail menu boasts some bold options... but they're executed poorly. You can't taste half the ingredients in the specialty cocktails, which is what makes them interesting. One I tried smelled like durian and tasted like drinking perfume. I am no stranger to funky cocktails but this was on a new level. Don't know what the miss was since I was told the menu was created by a dude who worked Midnight Cowboy and Odd Duck... both known for stellar beverage programs. As someone who just enjoys booze, I was more knowledgeable on the bottle offerings than the staff, which is always annoying when a place sells itself as being THE spot for amazing cocktails, and there's not a ton of options. Basically REALLY wanted this to be my sexy go to spot for early in the week (limited crowds) and don't think I'd order anything where I didn't ask for exactly the ingredients I wanted. Was really expecting more hospitality and customer service from the Ranch 616 group, who tends to do that pretty well. Another disappointment sent to commodify Austin's authenticity and bottle it into digestible options for unaware out of towners. We made a reservation for the official opening night on Friday. Upon walking up, there was nobody at the front door, nobody checking IDs, nobody to give any direction. So we wandered inside and sat down at a random table. It took over 10 minutes before a waiter walked up to our table and asked if it was ours and if we had reservations. We eventually got up and asked a bartender for a menu. Once we found a waiter, he was really friendly and helpful. However, the two different drinks we ordered were literally the worst drinks I've had in Austin. I can't describe how terrible the cocktails are here. They absolutely have to do something diffident with their drink menu. Overall the ambience is pretty cool, like a western disco vibe, but I can't look past the cocktails. read more
