My childhood pet macaw was boarded at Ana's Parrots & Supplies for a few weeks while my family completed a local move. During its stay, my macaw became seriously ill. According to the veterinarian who treated her afterward, she contracted a virus that is typically spread by other birds. She later aspirated, developed pneumonia, and tragically passed away. After discovering the illness, we called the owner to inform her of what happened. Instead of expressing any concern or taking responsibility, she was rude and blamed my mother for the bird becoming sick -- despite the fact that our macaw had never been exposed to other birds in her entire life until being boarded here. My mother spent roughly $2,000 on testing and treatment trying to save her, only for her to pass shortly after. Since sharing our experience, several local bird owners, avian vets, and bird experts in our area have echoed similar concerns about this facility. I truly wish we had known all of this beforehand. Losing a lifelong family pet in this way was devastating. While I can only speak to my personal experience, the lack of accountability and the conditions that allowed this to happen are deeply concerning. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision before trusting this business with the care of their birds.
