This place was amazing! Very well merchandised and so many great gifts for anyone and everyone in your family. They had beautiful cards and other stationary along with Pittsburgh local prints. Prices were spot on. I had to restrain myself from buying up the whole store. I visited on a Saturday so there were a lot of people in the store and not as many employees. The employees were congregated by the register, so they were easy to find. Once I was able to get to the register, they were very helpful in helping me find what I was looking for. This shop just screams Lawrenceville: A store full of trinkets and gifts that are hip, cool, often woke and/or Pittsburgh themed, and definitely more expensive than they would be based on functionality alone. I work in the area and my co-workers and I often come in just to browse and laugh at the funky stuff on display. It's a very fun way to spend our lunch hour! I've also actually bought some stuff, as have my co-workers, including: a bath bomb, a little quick-dry towelette that works perfectly for kitchen use, a 3-pack of beeswax covers for food storage, a Yinzer t-shirt for someone new to the city, a booklet of Mr. Rogers' sayings, and others I am probably forgetting. Writing this review in April, I'm also eyeing their extensive Mother's Day card selections for next month. I could go on and on making a list of oddities in this store. Suffice to say that if you need a fun gift, a Pittsburgh-themed addition to your household, or just an enjoyable browsing experience, come here. About 95% of the stuff in this store is stuff you look at and say 'haha, oh would you look at that, so cute.' Just don't look too closely at the price tags. read more

Omg. If I lived in Pittsburgh, this would be my go-to spot for gifts. I bought two fun magnets, a silly raccoon sticker, and a really cute pair of earrings. AKA quite a variety of gifts, probably something in there for most people below the age of 40-50 or at least for the young-at-heart. Very cool store for collectors! My boyfriend (and I to a lesser extent) are Funko collectors. They had a decent selection, we each found one we wanted. They also have another store and an eBay so you can always be on the lookout for the hard to find ones. They had loads of comics and other memorabilia. A fun nerd store with great service! read more

This is a great card and gift store right on Butler Street in Lawrenceville. I often times forget how spoiled I am to have this place right down the street. I can stop in for literal last minute gifts any time of the year. The shop has great handmade cards for every occasion. There are so many funny ones that make me laugh out loud. Everytime I'm in there, the quirky and punny gifts crack me up. I like the kitchen gift items like cookbooks, mugs, cocktail napkins, wine glasses etc that they have. Also the funny pot holders and oven mitts! In the back they have a selection of candles, kids toys, wrapping paper, planners, and more. It really is a hodge podge of awesome gifts that you won't find anywhere else. They have really nice and affordable jewelry in the glass case where the cashier is. I always look, but have never purchased any of the jewelry. Masks are required and it can get busy in this little store. Try to go on a weekday if you can (especially around the holidays). I stopped in the other day to check out their selection of holiday cards, and they had so many that were in packs. The cards are more expensive than a big box store, but it is nice to find unique products and support local. The ladies working are always so sweet. I absolutely love this store. I have too many favorite items that I have bought here including handmade earrings from California, stickers that I have kept for myself and gifted for people, and most recently I bought a print for some decoration in my house. I didn't buy the frame with the print because it was a little cheap looking for the price. I came into wild card because it is so close to my house it is usually my go-to place for cards and gifts. I have even recently bought some jewelry a unique ring for myself. While a little expensive it was my birthday so I splurged. Wild Card really does have everything you could need for a quick gift and for cards. Their candle selection is also on point. You can spend many of minutes sniffing and smelling the different candles they have in stock. I was looking for some unique gifts for kids and I was not disappointed. They have onesies and t-shirts with a Pittsburgh Focus as well as little simple gifts that are unique. I am never disappointed by the size and selection that they have. And the art work and just art pieces they have appeal to children as well as adults. There were a few times that I wished I could fit into a onesie because they are just so adorable. They also have some political mugs that caught my attention. Nothing warms my heart like a mug with Ruth Bader Ginsburg face on it. There were also mugs with Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton. Well not everyone's bag it really made me feel happy and I bought a few as gifts. I like my neigborhood store. It's perfect to pick up just a little something something. This place is a must-see in my book - it's one of my favorite places to visit when I need cards or unique gifts. The cards here are just darling and often quite funny, making the store a perfect go-to if the standard cards you find at the average drugstore just aren't doing it for you. Wild Card is a fun gift shop filled with various type of cards, shirts, random knick-knacky type of gifts and of course, stationary. While Pittsburgh is also home to Kards Unlimited, I feel like Wild Card has a more organized and homey vibe. It's smaller and more easier to navigate through. Being that it's smaller it has less options naturally, but still has much to choose from. They have a huge selection of Pittsburgh t-shirts because one can never have too many shirts to show their love for the 412. They also sell some really cool Pittsburgh postcards which I made sure to grab along the way. The staff is really friendly and they told me that some of their items can be purchased online should you not be able to find it in stores. read more

I stepped into Wild Card while waiting for a table at Condado across the street, and I still can't stop thinking about how great of a decision it was. Stepping into this shop was like being transported into a magical world full of knick knacks and specialty items. This store has everything you need to buy souvenirs, decorate an office or home, and everything else you could need. T-shirts, mugs, cards, pins, keychains and a bunch of other things. I could have spent hours roaming the store, but sadly I only had 20 minutes to peruse. I think the best part about this place is that every time you you look around you notice a different item. I adore this store so much! I discovered them during Lawrenceville's annual blossom tour this year and haven't been able to get enough of them since! Wildcard specializes in cards but they are so much more than cards! The cards they have are so unique- all from small local and /or independent businesses! Most are blank but with unique and adorable pictures/quotes on the front. They have journals, unique journals, dolls from the kreepy doll factory, wooden postcards, vintage postcards, zombie finger puppets... A little bit of everything! Literally! Yes it's all a little pricey, but they support local businesses and unknown artists... How awesome is that? Therefore I support them. I would rather purchase a $5 hand made card from here than a highmark card anyday. Make sure to follow them on Instagram! Whenever I'm stumped on gifts to get for people, I go to Wildcard and somehow find the best gifts for everyone. There's lots of Pittsburgh centric items, as well as cool, quirky finds and feministy things. Think mugs, t-shirts, books, jewelry, aprons, patches, stickers, etc. And of course, lots of indie greeting cards. If you ever miss out on Handmade Arcade or an I Made It Market type of event, this place is probably the best substitute around. I spent 20 minutes at Wildcard the other day and found gifts for four different people. Not just bland, generic gifts, but things that had character and made me go, oh, that's perfect for so and so! "Cute" would be operative word here. You're all thinking I'm too gruff for reviewing Wildcard, eh? You're saying to yourselves, "Now why did Darren W. even go to Wildcard?" III hearrr youuuu... I was wandering the glistening, wet streets of Lower Lawrenceville Friday night before trekking across the 40th Street Bridge for another few hours of heavy metal merriment when I realized that I'd never been on the other side of Wildcard's door before. With nothing better to do for about an hour or so, I cautiously wandered in, my workboots making the wooden floor squeal slightly. Meticulously curated, stores like Wildcard have me remorseful over doing my card shopping at chains such as the now ubiquitous Hallmark shops, as well-stocked with trinkets and (even candy!) as they may be. While I think Shadyside's Kards Unlimited is a more expansive and therefore superior type of business, Wildcard holds its own against the corporate giants by keeping much of their merchandise local and eccentric. Alright, I'll come clean. Wildcard IS a tad girlish for a guy like myself to be frequenting often. To me, Kards Unlimited feels like a large variety/novelty store combined with Eide's or Groovy. I could get lost gawking at action figures and graphic novels at KU without giving a whit about their greeting card selection. Wildcard, on the other hand, is more concentrated and card-centric. It's a place I should take Kay to sometime just so I can listen to her squeak and coo over the all too precious items they have on display, things that have already been documented by other Yelp reviewers. I did almost purchase an octopus tentacle for my finger, however. Between Wildcard, an equally quirky cousin in Divertido on the opposite end of Butler Street, and the gruesomely geeky House of the Dead across the road (a review is comin'), folks shouldn't have trouble finding a gift for the ones they care about, be they oddalls or middle-of-the-roaders. read more

This is gift shop heaven. There are such treasures here, including lots of handmade and local goodies. This is a great place to shop for that wonderfully weird person in your life. There's a decent card selection and I love all the pretty wrapping paper options. My only complaint (that's not really a complaint) is, when I go into this store in hopes of finding a gift for someone, I always find one item (or two or six) that I absolutely have to have for myself. After browsing the selection on the shelf and not being able to spot the perfect card I asked the employee working that day if there were any cards that had a cupcake on them. The employee did a quick search on the racks and showed me one I overlooked. Wasn't impressed by it and as I stood there contemplating whether or not I was really going to purchased that card, the employee was busy doing a search. The employee went to where they store cards.
