This was quite a nice shop. I don't usually venture down this far on Whyte Ave so I was pleasantly surprised when I came across Wild Prairie. It is a beautiful little soap and bath shop. The girl working was incredibly friendly and we had a great round of small talk as I browsed the store. The smell of the store was great because it wasn't overpowering like a lot of soap stores that I can barely stand to be in for more than 30 seconds. They had some really cute gift sets and some very tempting bath salts. The bath robes are amazingly soft - I couldn't believe it! The lotions and natural soaps are all fantastic. The few home decor items they have are really nice too. And the Poo-Pourri is awesome! What a great name! I wonderful spray to make your bathroom smell beautiful after . . . well, you know. This is seriously high quality stuff. In a world where everything needs to be local, free of harmful chemicals and what not, Wild Prairie seems to be one of those few places that adhere to it with seriousness. At $6 per bar of soap, it's a bit more expensive than Dove but is totally worth it if you care about yourself! They last long, are 100% natural and are composed of 50% olive oil. Growing up in India, no one would use olive oil in food but the one thing mamma always said was that olive oil was great for the skin! Yes it is. When I say 100% natural, I mean it's free of laboratory made chemicals and uses tintures and essences from various sources. They basically make a bunch of different types of bar soaps. I like the idea of bringing back bar soaps into fashion. I suppose it's difficult to carry a soap with you to yoga class where you can smell of fennel, cinnamon and oregano right after class and challenge the yogis in yoginess. However, the soaps are great to have at home. As mentioned, their soap odours (or flavours, if you will) are earthy, delicious yet subtle. I like these guys and I like their soaps. Crazy cat lady from the Simpson's aside, what girl doesn't love to smell amazing and feel soft, beautiful and clean? Well, Wild Prairie is the store for you! I love this locally owned gem. The soap is all made right in the back of the store, from all natural ingredients that smell and feel amazing. The lotions are so fragrant with natural botanicals and the amazing scents last all day. They are so silky and soft that just melt right into your skin without being greasy or oily. The Viva Vanilla is my personal favourite, I once actually had a massage therapist say she loved the smell of my lotion, this was 6hrs after application! Being a soap store, Wild Prairie of course smells great, but it's not overbearing. Instead, it's a nice, light, and natural scent (kind of like lavender) that follows you around like a breeze as you walk through the store. In addition to soaps (and lots of them), Wild Prairie sells lotions, eye and neck pillows, lip balms, pj's and slippers, house robes, and home decor items. Their robes are the softest ones you will ever touch! I reached out to feel one and it was like running my hand on silk, but it's still made of a terry-cloth-like material. I thought it was pretty funny how they displayed their Poo Pourri products. They have a white toilet right beside the display table, with lemons spilling out of the toilet bowl. So funny! They have a sink where you can test out different soaps, and see which one suits your skin and nose the best. There is also something called the "soap du jour", where they pick a different soap to be 10% off each day. All their soaps and house line body products are made in their in-store soaperie in the back, so items are most likely to be fresh and still packed with a lot of scent when you buy them. The staff are really great and helpful. The girl on shift showed me the small upper loft, where they are currently working on a holiday display with their new home decor items. These include things like frames, candles, and pillows. I really liked one particular piece, a mat that was woven out of pebbles. How cool is that? I'd say anything in this shop makes for some wonderful gift ideas, for friends who like spa products and pampering themselves. read more

Over the years, I've had the joys of being able to try this company's products, but only recently have I visited the shop. I really like the fact that they manufacture soap here locally. The staff member who helped me was really great at answering my questions and I was able to buy some great maple scented (Oh Canada!) soap. I will have to remember to come back when I run out of soap again, as I like the fact that the scent of this shop, while strong, isn't unpleasant and while I wouldn't want to stay here super long due to the amount of aroma in the air, I can definitely deal with this kind of scent better than I can stand the smells of other shops that sell such personal care products. read more

I'm a growing fan of these Wild Prairie Soap Company products! As soon as you walk into their store you are immediately immersed in the most luxurious scents! I love how the body products are made right here in the store! You can't get more locally made than that! So far I've tried the 50g Blackberry Lotion Bar and the 50g Sole Mate Foot Fix (counts as a lotion bar). They kind of look like deodorants but they're for your body and soles of your feet. They're amazing! They're very moisturizing (sometimes you might feel a bit oily) and leave you smelling soooo good! The lotion bars come in a smaller 15g size. Great for your purse or when you travel and need to pack light. The more you buy, the better the deal. One of the 50g bars is $12 but if you buy 2, you pay $20. They have a scent called Oh Canada that smells kind of like maple syrup! I bought an Oh Canada Lotion Bar but you can also buy other products with this smell, such as soap bars or lip balms. I bought a couple Oh Canada Lotion Bars today - one for myself and one for my close friend in California. I love to buy Canadian made products for my out of country friends and family. Their store made products include a variety of lotions, soaps, body scrubs, ointments, and lip balms. Some even come in variety packs perfect for gift giving. You can also purchase an assortment of other items such as slippers, towels, body loofahs, massage tools, essential oils, candles, shampoo/conditioners and sunscreens. I'll love this store! There is also a line of lotions, very cool stone soap trays, bathrobes, and other shower time accessories. A bar of soap will run you around $7. 3/5 price of product 4/5 quality of product - yes they do live up to the claim I was first introduced to Wild Prairie thanks to a Groupon purchased in mid April. I paid $12 for $24 worth of purchase. This review is a bit overdue as I made my purchase in June. I was able to get two 50 g lotion bars (Grapefruit and Prairie Sunflower) and one 15 g Gentle soul lotion bar. They all are as hydrating as I had expected and works wonder on my sensitive skin. The best part is that the lotion is rolled and gets absorbed quickly (doesn't make you feel like all sticky and inconvenient). And it stays hydrated until the next shower - highly recommend this for those dry, harsh Canadian winter months! With all that said, I do find the pricing for their products to be high. For example, the foot butter that rocky mountain soap has for ~$7 for 15g is much better buy. read more

They also carry great accessories for the bath like loofah's,soap trays,and the nicest slippers I have ever seen anywhere. There is a pretty extensive range of scents and also specialty items for pregnant moms and people with sore joints. Beautiful scents waft to your nose as you step into this lovely shop. Row upon row of handmade natural soaps draw you in, making you want to touch and test every piece of merchandise. It's a good thing there are lots of test bottles of lotions and sprays on every shelf. There's even a test sink where you can sample their homemade body scrub. Their signature product: Poo-Pourri. Yes, a bathroom spray so you don't have to smell your spouse or your guests don't have to be embarrassed when they stink up the loo. Smells like lemon grass, which is much more pleasant. Besides this, there's a great selection of products to soothe, calm or exhilarate the senses. If you take issue with spending $5 on a block of soap, as I do, it may help to know they use 50% olive oil, which most commercial soaps don't do, so they're harder, last longer, chemical-free, biodegradable and won't dry or harm your skin. Wild Prairie Soap Company is wonderful. The sales staff are always friendly and helpful and Tonya the manager is warm and welcoming. I stopped in there a few years ago and got some soap to put in homemade laundry detergent. It works GREAT. Detergent that cleans my families clothes without all the smelly chemicals!
