Went to wildcat last weekend for a powder day. They had received 5-6" of new snow overnight and the conditions were excellent. It's an old school throwback mountain with 1 fast summit lift and a chill vibe. If you like ungroomed natural terrain, tight glades and an old school (non pretentious) vibe, check it out on a pow day. They don't make much snow though as vail has cut back in that department so avoid if it hasn't snowed substantial amounts in a while. read more

It is a great view from peak D and A. B and C don't have a view. From D you can see Mt.Washington. On the D it is nice to have a break on the meadow. Place is like a funeral. One lift spinning to the summit...one lift for greens. Ski shop attendant reading a book could careless about customers. Cafeteria area barricaded and reservation needed even if your fully vaxed and boosted. Ate lunch in my car and there's not a trash receptacle to be found. Entire mountain has thin cover. My home mountain 300 miles SOUTH has 100% terrain open and all lifts spinning. This place ain't it. read more

I don't ski a lot. But I know business and this place is on the brink. The place is beat and beyond dated. The rental/locker area smells like a dirty bathroom. Apparently they don't make snow any longer either. Showed up on a Friday, brought my daughters and their friends. $130 a head plus an adult. So over $700 bucks. They're open from 9-4. They only had one lift running and it only ran 2/3 up the mountain. If any of ya are planning on opening a ski lodge. Lol. Come here and get a tutorial on everything NOT to do. HOWEVER....... The Mac n' cheese as well as the tomato soup were both very good. MUCH better than I expected. Recommendation don't buy your ticket the day before. Call these places morning of and see what lifts are running, how many trails are open etc. don't believe the website. Then buy your tickets. read more

Incredible ski resort love everything about this place from the near by parking lot. Big lodge even on a busy day it doesn't feel crowded. The lift to the top is fast and that's 4000 feet up. The trails and views are to die for. There are beginner trails from the top all the way down that are awesome for all ability levels. Don't go--Vail Resorts is running this place into the ground! This place was my mountain for many, many years. But unfortunately, it is no longer. Vail Resorts is entirely to blame as they (1) no longer open early in the season anymore, (2) no longer stay open late in the season, (3) No longer make snow--and then blame it on "a worker shortage". Right now, we're going into Christmas/Holiday week. And they can't even get the upper mountain open--why? Well they snowmaking pipes froze and their snowmaking staff quit. Who want's to pay $100 to ski one trail 2/3rds the way down the mountain? And you might think that this is a unique situation but it's not. A few years ago, the snowmaking pipes also froze. But since Vail has such a toxic work culture, all the knowledgeable snowmaking staff left--so it has happened again. This place used to be amazing. But now even Cannon has surpassed it. You know it's bad when Cannon, the state-run ski area makes more snow and has a better guest experience. read more

What a dump. On 11/29 the pass checkers were holding the line so they can fumble with their pass readers. The lift had plenty of capacity, mind you, but the arrogant schmucks had been the bottleneck -- the place is too cheap to install electronic gates or hire enough checkers. Most of the employees resemble meth-ravaged zombies. The lodge, beside the obligatory overpriced revolting feed, had free drinking water fountain. But the water coming out of it was brownish. Well there is more to a good ski day than just the conditions. Today is an example. The ski conditions were very good. Wildcat was blessed with a lot of snow and many runs were open. My complaints are not about Mother Nature but the decisions employees made. 1. It was a nice day and a Friday and one the 3 lifts up the main hill only wildcat express was open. Then lines got very long but they did not open either of the other two (Tom cat and Bob cat). This is an example of not putting the customer first. It is crazy they did not open a second lift 2. I went into the lodge to get lunch and sat at a table by myself. I took my boots off (like I always do) to warm my toes as they were very gold. Then an attendant comes around and say 'sir you need to put your boots on. State law in a restaurant'. My main issue is she was just rude. No 'please' or 'I am sorry but'. She was not nice. She did not treat me like a customer. I would also note I have been skiing for 40 years and since when could you not take your boots off to warm your feet. So now I am not thrilled but I sit at my table, boots on because I don't want to cause trouble and then she comes back. 'Sir, you need to put your mask on'. I asked why (I was alone and no one in 6 feet and sitting at a table like I do at other restaurants in NH). She said 'if you do not have food you must wear your mask'. Again, I did not agree but I did what I was asked. I then got food and ate with no mask. I was most upset with how she talked to me. No 'please' or nice tone. Just rude. She did not treat me like a customer. Her name was Pauline. I guess I will take my Epic pass and go where I am treated better. read more

Wow, what a day! It's school vacation week so I was nervous skiing near Boston so I decided to go even father north than I usually go... (I'm a Sunapee, Gunstock guy usually). I arrived at 8:30 as the lifts began to turn, I got a great parking spot and was able to head right to the lodge to get ready. Wildcat offers a free bag storage service (main lodge, downstairs) I would take advantage of this. I started my day with some runs in the beginner area and was very pleased with the friendliness of the staff at the lift. The conditions were great, freshly groomed areas but also some stashes of powder still. After a few warm up runs I took the Bobcat Triple up to the Bobcat peak. From that peak there are many trail options but I recommend the love tunnel and Wild Kitten a great green cruiser. Eventually I made my way over to the Wildcat Express and after a very short wait (like 2 mins) I was whisked up to the top of the mountain. The views from this mountain are amazing and worth the lift tickets price on their own. I took a few runs down Polecat, Catwalk, and Lynx and loved every minute. Overall this mountain was perfect, and well worth the longer ride. Some people might complain there is only one high speed quad, but the triples are great especially when skiing alone as people are less likely to sit with you. Great job, keep up the good work! Even though Wildcat is owned by the same company running Attitash, Wildcat still seems like a local and less commercialized mountain. The conditions are also way better here than Attitash and there's not nearly as many people/long lines. They also just installed even more snow makers so no matter what the weather throws at them they're ready. With a summit just over 4K feet, Wildcat is the tallest in the area and offers 49 trails through dense forest and moderately tough terrain. Plenty of blue trails mostly and not the best mountain for beginners in my opinion. Trails are well groomed, fast, and pretty wide in general. You can also find some glade / tree skiing available, as well as a Terrain Park. Wildcat also offers you the best views in the area of Mount Washington from its summit, and on a clear day you can easily see across to Tuckerman's Ravine/Bowl. The chair lifts are also the fastest in NH and will get you from the base to the summit in under 6 minutes! There's of course ski and snowboard rentals available, as well as half and full day passes. You'll find a small bar/restaurant up stairs, and large cafeteria down stairs for lunch. Prices are comparable to other resorts if not a bit cheaper. I'd highly suggest buying lift tickets online at Liftopia to save money. Overall, just a really fun, yet challenging, mountain and I never go through a season without visiting Wildcat a few times. This place is awesome -- with the exception of excessive number of senior citizens that can barely ski but think of themselves as experts which means they have very expensive ski gear and technique of cross country skiers occupying entire width a trail while moving in packs at 3mph. It is a reasonably challenging mountain with not only blacks but both greens and blues allowing for good fault line skiing ( provided the senior citizens arent on the slopes ). Small but tall mountain! Their quad lift to the summit was a hit or miss when I went but they fixed it and got it going. I like how wide the boarding area is but with this being the only lift that gets you to the summit, the lines are crazy long on the weekends. Parking is easy. Porta potties outside. They're super stringent on masks which is great. So make sure it's over your nose and your mask doesn't have holes! read more

I actually loved this mountain but there are some negatives. The mountain itself was gorgeous and on a clear day you will have amazing views of Mount Washington. This review loses a star for the following: there is no terrain park, the bathrooms were rough, and they could have done a little better with COVID protections. Food was okay. My husband and I had our first snowboarding experience at wildcat, we took a 3 hour class and then we hit the mountain, even tho you gotta keep in mind this mountain is for experienced people. (NOTE: This review is for the GONDOLA ride only. I would give it good rating (3.4 out of 5)). OK... it has come to this... in my teens, 20s, and 30s and even early 40s... I hiked mountains... now I take some type of transportation or aid to get to the top! :-) Check-in was easy. It cost $40 for 2 adults and 1 child in 2015. We were truly blessed that we could bring our ailing dog on the trip for one last adventure. The views we had were SPECTACULAR and breath taking from the moment we boarded to the summit. Definitely bring your camera! The type that makes me want to invest in a high quality camera. The biggest issue I had with this experience was the ride itself UP... to sum it up... it was absolutely MISERABLE! The 3 of us plus doggie was placed in a 4 seater 95% enclosed gondola. It was only 70 as the summit and we rode up in full sunshine... the temp must of reached 90+ in the cabin. The ceiling was very hot. I joked with my wife that they were slowly baking us for dinner. LOL!!! Then it gondola itself did not constantly move... it kept starting and stopping, starting and stopping. This was because the loading process was very slow and not organized. Come on people load and unload quickly. I was a SWEATY mess by the time we arrived at the summit. The poor dog was panting. *** TIP: BRING WATER *** Unlike other SKI resorts (e.g., Cranmore, Gunstock) there is no mountain top pub to purchase beverages. That would of helped. The views at the top were AMAZING and so clear! There are lots of places to walk around but we stayed near the summit. *** TIP: Bring a lunch -- enjoy a lunch at the top *** RIDE DOWN was better or this would of been 2 stars... we got into a Gondola that had a vent at the top and that made all the difference.. it was so much cooler... It appears that only 1/2 of them have that... Would I do the gondola again? Eh, probably not. Would I ski here? YES!!!! read more

A 7 min ride of the quad whisks you to over 4,000 feet. That's 2100 vert on a single chair - pretty good for any resort. After taking the slow-speed triple at Attitash the day before, the quad at Wildcat feels like a thrill ride. I was there the day after the blizzard, and it was a bluebird day with a bit of wind, which is normal if you've heard anything about Wildcat. I did get cold, but if getting cold isn't your thing you should avoid any north-facing mountain (especially one facing Mt Washington!). I liked the runs from the top. The views are great. I think I decided not to ski Tuckerman's Ravine (ever) after seeing the bowl from the top of Wildcat. The only disappointment was that the rain in weeks prior had wiped out most of the base, and the 18" of snow they got was not enough for them to open all the trails, including many black diamonds. Oh well. Not their fault! I like Wildcat, but avoid it if the wind chills are excessively negative. read more

Superb day. I have to give it to the staff at this mountain. Mother Nature has been a royal Scrooge this year so far. Almost a non-existent Winter. She left us all alone in New England while she cavorted the pleasures of some young mountains out West. And left a trail of rainy tears in the process. Ick. But in the meantime, the people at Wildcat have been feverishly taking advantage of each opportunity for snow making. And it showed. With colder temperatures in the evening and morning, they produced a quality product. We arrived at Wildcat to snow falling and the snow guns going full blast on Upper Pole Cat, while Upper and Lower Lynx were freshly groomed with a fairly good snowpack. For beginners, the Snowcat Triple was in operation with a segregated area for novices. We were able to admire Wildcat's large infrastructure although most of it was non skiable due to warm weather. We skied a good five hours at Wildcat today. Yes, the weather could have been better but that's not the resort's fault. The staff was at their best, cheerful, helpful and optimistic. The guest services crowd made everyone feel at home. When the chips are down, especially for a ski resort in adverse weather, is the optimum time that you see the real mettle of a business establishment. The entire staff performed admirably. We will be back soon when good weather brings tons of snow. read more

A bit further away for me but well worth it - almost never a line and the lift is ridiculously fast. Quite brisk on the cold days, of course. Personally, the really challenging terrain is not "in" all that often - BUT, the old-school vibe when you ride down the fir tree-lined trails just feels the way riding should feel. Then, for "real" exercise, I like skinning up to the top and hiking to the real summit. The views here are just outstanding. Ski patrol/etc is very friendly and helpful. read more

Wild Cat use to be a great ski resort until big corporate Vail stepped in. Now it takes a act of congress for them to make snow (not in the budget) leaving most trails and lifts closed, customer service also took a dive, good luck on getting someone on the phone and/or getting them to call you back. Its almost as though they don't want to be bothered. I hope they can find a way to turn things around. read more

Wildcat is by far my favorite mountain in New Hampshire. I am a life long NH resident and have skied pretty much everywhere. The reasons it's so great: - Snow: Wildcat is right next to Mt Washington and gets insane amount of snow. The temperature difference from North Conway to Wildcat can be as much as 10-15 degrees. This means it snows more often and the snow stays longer. - Lifts: The quad goes to the top in 6 months and gives you access to more than 2k feet of vertical. You can get an INSANE amount of skiing down in a short period of time. I'll go to WIldcat and be dead tired after 3 hours. - View: There is nothing that competes with the view at Wildcat. Bretton Woods is on the other side of Washington but the views are not even close. - Crowds: There are none. Even on the "big" weekends you can get on the lift in 3-4 minutes tops. Most of the time there is no wait at all. To be fair, the downsides of Wildcat: - Cold: Wildcat is cold and windy. If you dress appropriate (warm, goggles, something over your face) it's fine even on days below 0. - Lodge: Compared to other local areas the lodge is on the low end. I love this mountain! 6 minutes up and 9-14 min down (2100' vertical drop and up to several miles down depending on the route). They should rename the Wildcat Express to the "Quad Slayer". I actually had to take a few runs up the slow lifts just to give my legs time to recover! Lots of range of difficultly, lots of glades and near glade trails. So much to explore! If you love moguls you will love this place. MILES of moguls, many trails. From "blue" trails to Diamonds to moguls the size of school busses you will have something to love! Wildcat is, on the whole, a well planned single base/single peak resort. It has a base to peak high speed quad that is very efficient. The trails are often winding and on the whole quite pleasant. My only issue with the trail design is the high number of intersections, the curse of resorts that pretend to be larger than they are. The base lodge and the parking lot both seem like they should be easily overcome by crowds but have always worked out well for me. Wildcat sits across Pinkham Notch from Mount Washington giving it awesome views of The Gulf of Slides, Tuckerman Ravine, Lion's Head and Huntington Ravine. This is great for scenery but leaves The Cat somewhat disconnected, at 15 minutes from the limited dining and abundant lodging of Jackson and 30 minutes from North Conway. read more

Great place to go and hike during the summer and the early fall. Parking is at the base of the mountain, along with a huge waterfall. Bring along water (2 liters per person), food, warm clothes, and rain gear. The weather does change dramatically along the White Mountains and it can catch you off guard. Also, the summits of Wildcat and Wildcat D are both on the list of 4,000 footers, so it is a great place to go and bag more than one peak at once. The views are great...you face Tuckerman's on Mt. "Wild thing... you make my heart sing" is what I hum to myself as I make my way down this mountain. I have two memories from this mountain: 1. I went off a jump, and my dad followed right after me. I did a superman (by accident, duh), and landed splat on my face. My dad landed on me. Ow. It hurt. I cried. (I was like 12, ok?) 2. It was so cold and windy one visit that my siblings and I were blown up the hill. And we weren't little children (we were average size). I've been here a few times - and it's decent. It's not *that* big, so if you're looking for a Sunday River experience, look elsewhere. It's a nice change-up from some of the other NH mountains. Definitely out of the way on some back roads. Not too crowded, which is a plus. I'd give it a try if you haven't been! read more

I've been skiing in the White Mountain area for over 20 years but Wildcat has become a new favorite. Not sure why we hadn't skied there in the past but we checked it out a few years ago and really enjoyed it so we decided to give it a second try about a month ago. Once again we had a great time. The mountain both times wasn't too busy (a huge plus because who likes waiting in huge lift lines?). The runs were nice and long which I really like and did I mention the gorgeous views. Wowza Mt. Washington always looks pretty but Wildcat has one of the best views of it. The lodge isn't fancy but what ski lodges are, they have plenty of tables a small cafeteria if you want to spend a small fortune on french fries. read more

In the White Mountains, with views of Mt. Washington and Tuckerman's Ravine, Wild Cat has probably some of the best scenery to take in. Wild Cat is not a wide mountain, but it makes up for it with great vertical distance. Some facts: Summit Elevation: 4,062 feet Elevation Base: 1,950 feet Vertical Drop: 2,112 feet It doesn't seem much if you are coming from the Rocky Mountains or the Alps, but for New England -only 3 hours drive from Boston- this is pretty good. We skied here yesterday for the afternoon, $30 lift ticket after 12PM. It was about 40F which makes for some spring skiing. The mountain was fairly quiet since the Pats are in the playoffs and Sundays are generally quieter in the afternoon as families depart for their homes. A lot of the trails were moguled from the slushy snow being pushed around and there were a lot of trails that had poor coverage. I would blame Mother Nature--- hey lady, we need some snow up here! There are plenty of blues here-- it's a great intermediate mountain and the express quad is very fast. The Polecat run is the longest novice ski trail in New Hampshire, 2.75-mile beginner trail from the summit. If you're taking your time, it can take a 1/2 hour to make round trip. I had my bindings adjusted here also and the repair shop staff were very kind and helpful. The lodge is pretty basic with a small bar in the middle (not a separate restaurant). No fancy pants dining here. From what I understand, the lift ticket you buy at Wildcat will also work at Attitash (about a 1/2 hour drive from Wildcat), which is great to have to decent mountains nearby for a long weekend. read more

Been buying season passes here for nearly a decade. Vail resorts and Epic pass ruined this mountain and Attitash. Smaller local mountains with warmer weather like Shawnee Peak have made more snow and have more terrain open than either Attitash or Wildcat... Vail resorts does not care about your day on snow, they just need to make money for their investors on wall st. I will not be buying another pass to Wildcat as long as they are a part of the Epic pass. In previous years Wildcat competed with Sugarloaf and Killington to be the first east coast mountain to open and last to close, I doubt we will ever see that again as long as Vail runs the show. read more

I've been to about 10 different mountains in New England since I learned how to ski last winter, and this is so far my favorite. The lift to the top is insanely fast, so you get more time on the slopes. The mountain has a lot of trails, but is pretty compact, so there's not too much annoying traversing to get anywhere, which I like. I just learned how to ski last year, but my skills are progressing pretty quickly, so this mountain was perfect for me. I'm an intermediate skier who is progressing into more advanced terrain, so this mountain was great for me since the trails here tend to be a bit tougher than at other places where I've been. We went over to Wildcat for our first time ever zip lining. It was a blast. The price was right, lines were minimal and the experience was top notch. The staff made you feel very comfortable (especially being our first time) and explained the whole process. After we finished our ride...my wife and I were eager to either go again and find another zip line. We were directed towards Attitash and given a discount card. My family took our first skiing lesson and snowboarding lessons respectively at Wildcat last weekend, traveling from Connecticut. Totally worth it! Ski instructor Steve and Snowboarding instructor Ryan were both patient, knowledgeable and personable. My family and I each have a new passion for snow sports! Will continue to practice a bit closer to home, but can't wait for our next trip up to Wildcat! *Review for Disc Golfing Course Only* Avoid. The course is overgrown, wet and muddy. The bugs were intolerable. For experienced disc golfers this course was a huge disappointment. $9 Friday was great and the snow was wonderful! Even the waiting for the quad was acceptable. What is not is people who are in the service industry who are rude and honestly a bit condecending. I tempted not to post as it was only $9 today however $9 or $50 my mom taught me to be polite and if I was getting paid to be polite I should really really polite. I asked if the fourth lift would open and I was told it was. I wish I could have taken a photo of the snow covered lift that was not moving. So I asked again if they knew when it would be open and I was promptly told by three people it was open, the board showed it open, the website said it was and so did the printout. Unforunately they must have been too busy to speak to someone to see if this lift was going to open, Turns out it did not open all day, one nice worker let me know that it was a mechanical error but did not know if it would open. This was not someone at the front desk just someone who was just being nice. The woman I shared a table with at lunch experienced the same disrespect at the learning center when dropping off her child. I know I know $9 I just being from NH felt like it should not have been that hard of a question for one of the three of them to ask someone if the lift was going to open and if not just say so. read more

During a recent stay in the White Moutains, fiancee and I did the ziprider, gondola ride to the top, and the hike to Thompson's Falls. The ziprider was reallly fun and staff was really friendly, but I wished the zipline was a little bit longer. (it's about a 1/2 mile long?) The gondola ride seemed to take forever (I don't ski, so I have no frame of reference for such things). Unfortunately, it was overcast with fog, so we didn't have much of a view and I wasn't sure what the decrepit building at the top was used for... The hike to Thompson's Falls was a nice easy hike with a rewarding view of the falls. The price of the ziprider and gondola ride for 2 people was about $64- so a bit steep if you have a family.
