I ended up here are few years ago as I was looking for a last minute appointment and the owner had a same day opening. The owner cut my hair and did a great job, I was very happy. Since then I've been seeing Milan - who also does a really great job. Got my hair cut and styled the same day as my office holiday party this December and the compliments were endless; to the point that people were asking specifically who cut my hair, not just which salon. I am a happy repeat customer. Staff are professional and friendly. They offer coffee/tea and cookies during your appointment which is also a nice touch.

When I walked in, I saw two male stylists and I was starting to feel disappointed since I've never had my hair cut from a male before. English isn't their first language but they do understand the basics. I never got the name of the guy who was attending to me but he was young with blonde hair. I was feeling even more disappointed because I assumed since he is young, he will be inexperienced too. Washing: It was the best I've had compared to other others. Usually I'd get a short head massage for a min or two but this guy massaged for quite some time! The massage was lovely too. It took about 15-20 minutes for the entire wash. Cutting: I wanted to get a trim only because I wanted to keep my long hair length. The guy took quite some time trimming as well. I wouldn't complain about the time spent since he looked like he was trying to be careful. As for my bangs, I wanted straight, full bangs but he was debating for a few minutes and said that side bangs would probably look better on me. I didn't want to argue so I let him cut side bangs for me. I liked my haircut and my boyfriend also thought the guy did a good job too. Blow Drying: Again, he took a bit longer to dry my hair compared to other stylists. He was thorough in drying my hair and not a single place was wet. Other comments: This is my first salon where the stylists actually sit on chairs instead of standing. In total, I probably spent around 1h and 15mins in there. There was no idle chat which I prefer because I hate it when they try to pry into your personal life. I came in late morning and I didn't have to wait either. He did recommend a hair service instead of trying to push a service onto me. I tipped the guy nicely since I liked my haircut. I was happy with the total price as it was cheaper compared to other popular salons in Chinatown. I visited Klute hair for my first ever bleach treatment and it turned out to be a huge mistake. I…read morebooked an apt for their Creative Colour process with olaplex (although I am unsure now what products were used) and my hair came out absolutely scorched. I had done a great deal of research into colouring methods for my first treatment. I had my heart set on a place that would do colour + olaplex. I have very dark hair so I was aware that there was the potential for damage in this kind of treatment. Klute was recommended on a few Facebook groups and their website and instagram seemed promising. My first impressions were not pleasant. The stylist whom I had booked was immediately dismissive and did not inspire confidence that they were capable of what I had asked of them. I wanted my hair to go from a natural black to blonde silver. I was aware that it could take a number of lightening sessions to achieve this. Half way through the treatment the stylist indicated that my hair would not lift enough to the lightness I wanted, which I expected. But they also told me that the colour was unlikely to turn out the way I wanted (which was strange to me) I confirmed again I was after a purple to silver colour if at all possible. After seeing the results of the dye I was surprised because the colour was totally wrong. They had decided against my asking to dye it a neon bluish purple. They had also offered to cut the ends off my hair and dry it, although at the end of the appointment they decided against it and shooed me out of the office into the winter with dripping wet hair. I was I think in a kind of shock. I had been growing my hair for nearly two years and after it had dried I was devastated to see the damage this had caused me. Fortunately, another stylist at a different salon has since been able to get the colour perfect in just one session (although my hair is irreparably damaged) I have since confirmed with a number of friends who have experience with colouring that the amount of damaged caused by their process was excessive and unusual. I've attached a picture to demonstrate the damage that my hair received. I would suggest considering my story carefully if you are planning to visit Klute for colouring. I can only speak for my experience, and for the one stylist who treated my hair but if it is any indication of their quality I would stay well away.
