This is our second time on section 3, we are from Michigan every time we visit our family we come here to white water raft. Such an amazing experience with the most friendly staff. The views are breathtaking with clean water and exciting drops. We're planning to come here every summer. All the raft guides are so knowledgeable and make your experience better. We had Ethan and Tony as our guide they were such a great raft guides.

What an awesome time we had on the mini rafting trip. The Chattooga River is gorgeous and active. The guides for this trip were AMAZING! Young, fun and knowledgeable! Our guide was Isabel and she MADE the trip. There are some spots on this trip that you get out and have to walk and that is a bit challenging for some. All in all well worth the trip! We are looking forward to doing another trip with more class 4

This was my first river rafting experience, and Wildwater knocked it out of the park for me! I came with my husband and 10 year old daughter. Everything was just perfect from beginning to end. They provide a very accurate and detailed description of what to expect when you book online so there were no surprises. You start at the meeting spot and sign a waiver. They have complimentary water, coffee, and snack bars while you wait. Then the guides gather everyone around and they go over instructions. Then you get your gear and board a school bus which takes you down to the river. It is a short, 5 minute hike down to the river from where the bus stops and you will be expected to help carry gear. We did the full day and the river was absolutely breathtaking. It was pretty calm for the most part, which was good for my 10 year old. My husband and I would have liked a little more adventure, but were glad it was calm for our little one. There are several opportunities to jump in the water and swim throughout the day. About halfway through the day we stopped for a buffet picnic style lunch. Cold cuts, cheese, lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, sliced bread, wrap bread, mayo, mustard, chips & salsa, pickles, and PB&J are all laid out and you make your own sandwich. Ladies were allowed to go first, which I liked. Once everyone had gotten a sandwich, you were invited to have seconds or thirds, lol. It was very satisfying and enjoyable. Our guide, Nathaniel, was incredible. He was very knowledgeable, and possessed a plethora of interesting information about the wildlife and river. My family and I felt very safe with him as our guide. Once you return to the meeting house, there are showers and changing rooms, and the water and snack bars. Overall, this was a truly incredible experience and my family and I couldn't have been more pleased with Wildwater and their staff- especially Nathaniel!! Thank you!!

After one of the rapids, we went in for a paddle high five!

Wildwater offers you the BEST rafting experience you could possibly get. Take it from me, I have come to Wildwater every year for the past 5 years (and have done every raft tour they have). Look no further if you want to raft this is the BEST place. They make the experience great for any age and there is no experience needed. All guides are GUARANTEED to be knowledgeable and safety is never an issue as long as you listen to your guide.

We had the best time with our guide, Tripp! He worked hard to make sure we had a great time, and made sure we were prepared for each section of the river ahead of us. Such a fun time!

Awesome whitewater rafting experience! My family, which includes 8 yr old and 10 yr old girls, rafted down section 3 with Issac as our guide. I can't praise him enough....he made the trip very fun for the girls, who were really nervous at the beginning. He really focused on making this the experience of a lifetime for them and he was very knowledgeable about the history, plant life, etc. on the Chattooga when the river slowed down at times. In the end, we all had a blast, the girls were the biggest thrill seekers in our convoy, opting to be the 1st to tackle Bull Sluice (class IV) rapid, and constantly jumping into the freezing water to let the big rapids push them down river a bit. Our biggest issue is that the trip had to end :o( but....we will definitely be back.

Outstanding service! We had a couple women in our group that had physical challenges and Henry, the raft guide, did everything he could to make them comfortable and safe. A great time was had by all!

Wonderful experience and such fun and kind guides.

Great guides and fun times! Grace and Gracie took us on the zipline tour. They were great, and we had so much fun!

I was driving across the coutry to my new home in Boston, MA with 2 of my girlfriends. We had spent a few days in the ATL and had early morning reservations to go rafting here. The ride was long and we got lost. We were over 45min late and when we got there the group hadn't taken off yet, so the staff drove us to them and the group welcomed us without resentment. The tour itself was amazing! I can't remember our instructor's name, but he was so patient and made sure we all had a good time. We had a lunchbreak half way through. Thank goodness for that one. It was all of our first time and we chose like a 4 or 5 figuring we didn't want to dick around. We booked a package with 1 night and our cottage was sooooo cute and complete with a kitchen, deck, and crazy fire ants. Market is near by, so we had a beautiful evening. Then, I passed out because I was feeling sick.

Shortly after you cross the bridge over the Chattooga River you will see an entrance to a parking area on your left. The parking area here is large because it is also access to the 15.5 mile Chattooga River Trail and the PUT-IT location for many section kayakers. It can easily hold over 100 cars and multiple trucks w/trailers. ~~~ THE TRAIL Once you find a parking space, secure your vehicle and begin your hike approx. 1/4 mile down the paved trail to the left of the restrooms at the northwest end of the parking lot. The paved trail will take a deep curve left towards the put-in and beach area. However, at the curve you will notice a dirt trail on your right with a sign directing you to Bulls Sluice. The trail will end at a small platform overlooking the Sluice. But if you would like to get closer, another spur trail leads down to the rock shores of Bulls Sluice and the Chattooga River. ~~~ THE SLUICE If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of kayakers making a run through Bulls Sluice. The Chattooga has several sections known to rafters/kayakers. Bulls Sluice is the last rapid in Section III and the prelude to Section IV, the river's high-adventure section. Section IV boasts Seven-Foot Falls, Raven's Chute Rapid, and the famous Five Falls, where five Class IV-V rapids unfold in 1/3 of a river mile. Video of Section III (Bull Sluice is featured at the 5 minute 5 second mark) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HoD_xYvK9U Bull Sluice is a Class IV+ rapid as rated by American Whitewater during normal flow of 1.8 to 2.4 feet.[1] It becomes easier at lower water and significantly more difficult at higher water. Bull Sluice is the largest and final named rapid of Section 3 of the Chattooga River. [source - Wikipedia] AMERICAN WHITEWATER says this about Section IV of the Chattooga River: "This is the Southeastern Classic! More legends exist about Five Falls of the Chattooga than almost any other set of rapids. Taken individually any of the 5 rapids of Five Falls would be significant named drops on any typical Southeastern river. They are far from the hair found on steep creeks and the legendary danger associated with these rapids arises in part from the long history of boating the Chattooga (40+ years). That said, approach these rapids with caution as they have killed and injured plenty of boaters." Video of Section IV - https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=10&v=F7Wncrnhb9U&feature=emb_logo NOTE the waterfall shown in the video around the 30 second mark is Long Creek Falls, which I provide a link for below! ~~~ THINGS TO KNOW Hiking Distance: 1/4 of a mile (one way to Bulls Sluice) Difficulty of trail: EASY Creek Crossings: NO Elevation Gain: probably less than 60 feet Access to sluice: YES - but be careful RESTROOMS: YES PARKING: YES (plenty) + secondary parking area off Hwy 76. The place appeared well-organized and inviting, so we waited for about ten minutes. Eventually, an employee arrived in a van, seemingly returning from a pick-up run. He asked how he could assist us, and I mentioned that we were interested in the 2-hour paddle--their most popular option--referencing the sign that clearly stated it was available anytime before 3 PM. We had arrived just after 2 PM. However, he informed us that they were closed and no longer offering that paddle for the day. I pointed out that both the sign and the website indicated that the last drop-in time was 3 PM. He acknowledged this but explained that since it was towards the end of the season and business was slow, they had decided to close early to avoid losing money. It would be helpful if the website and signage were updated to reflect these changes, or at the very least, if the information was honored. We had planned this activity for our afternoon during our short stay in North Georgia, and it was disappointing to find it unavailable despite the posted information.
