Italian food, particularly pasta, is deceptively simple and very easy to do wrong. I tend not to order it when I'm out because it is so often disappointing, with dry pasta or underwhelming flavors, or just ridiculously overpriced. Casa Romana does it perfectly and I've never had a bad meal there. The prices are very reasonable, the portions are good, and the menu is full of traditional dishes like lasagna and spaghetti carbonara plus a few fancier options as well as the daily specials. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff always great. The decor nice but comfortable, this place isn't trying to be trendy but it's nice enough for a date or taking your mother to. As others have mentioned, it's worth making a reservation if you've going in the evening just in case they're full. Also keep in mind there's no sign outside, just look for the cozy place with the distinctively shaped door.

When we decided to visit Grantham for our honeymoon, the first thing we did was book a reservation at this restaurant so we could relive that charming evening. The staff was incredibly accommodating and welcoming, and made our return to this special moment a dream. I promised that night I would be leaving a sparkling review of their restaurant, but with the distraction of the rest of our trip and then just time in general, I never made it back to leave the review. Now that we finally printed our pictures - a year and half later (!!!) - I was reminded of this special place, and still find so much joy in recalling the two precious evenings I spent here.
