On multiple occasions, I called during business hours and encountered voicemail messaging stating the office was at lunch and would return at 1:30 PM -- despite it being well past that time. Messages left by phone and through the patient portal went unanswered for over three days. Because of this delay, I missed a time-sensitive medication window on the third day of my cycle and lost an entire treatment cycle. There was no proactive follow-up, contingency plan, or problem-solving offered to prevent it from happening again. Additionally concerning, an unfamiliar diagnosis appeared in my online chart. When I questioned it, I was told the provider "forgot which patient" they were with and would delete it. Accurate documentation is fundamental to patient safety and trust. This practice also delivered two of my children during complicated pregnancies. At the time, I believed the complications were simply unfortunate. After my recent experiences, I am now questioning whether broader process issues may exist. I hope the practice evaluates its staffing levels, communication standards, and documentation processes. Patients deserve timely responses, accurate records, and collaborative follow-through -- especially in a medical setting.

As it's an active medical school campus there are lots of restricted lots and one way pedestrian streets and such so you can easily get caught up in that. That being said - There are a few large parking garages and some visitor lots where you can park for free for an hour or $1-2 and I've never had a problem with finding a nearby parking lot. I visit for 6-month (and whenever something looks funny) transvaginal ultrasounds from Dr. Abuhamad who is pretty big in the women's ultrasound community and teaches here a few days a week. My primary gynecological specialist Dr. Squatrito (who is also a specialist as I have the BRCA Genetic cancer mutation) sent me here last year to have a second opinion on something nearby an ovary. My site is on the third floor of Hofheimer Hall so there is a lot right next door where I park and jaunt easily across the street into the building. There is a main check-in desk central area with waiting rooms who service about four offices. You sign in, they check your insurance and info and you wait to be called back. So far I've been lucky and have only waited about 20-30 minutes max I believe but I have been told it can range from 1-2 hours if things get busy and the doctors are running behind. Yikes. So I try to schedule early in the morning or late afternoon. Never midday. Anyway - staff have always been friendly with me and Dr. Abuhamad is very thorough and kind. I'm happy with my treatment here so far.

They now recommend too many unnecessary tests and biopsies that cost thousands of dollars and go straight to the deductible. This has left me feeling frustrated, untrusting, and disappointed. I no longer have a reliable OB-GYN I can turn to, someone who knows my history and offers thoughtful care before jumping to procedures. Being in my mid-60s, I know I need good care, but sadly, I won't find it at this practice. To make matters worse, most women's health practices in Tidewater have merged into one physician group. Their approach seems clear: more tests, more procedures, and less personalized care. Trust your gut feeling - take care and be aware of what I shared.

I'm on Medicare & have a Supplemental that pays everything that Medicare doesn't. When calling about the bill, I learned that TPW had become a division of Mid-Atlantic Women's Care. The new corporation totally changed everything about the operational aspects of the company, They required a total examination, whether one needed it or just came for a minor testing. Patients on Medicare were expected to pay the full amount out of pocket. Both my doctor and I appealed to the office manager that neither of us knew of the change. The front desk person who checked me in also wasn't fully aware of the change. The office manager appealed to their new corporate and assured me that they would offer a credit, since neither I or my doctor were aware of the change, But the bills continued to come, I finally gave up on their making good on the promise and paid the bill. This year when my appointment time was near I received a letter indicating the cost. A signatory of confirmation was required. I canceled the appointment, The acquisition of TPW by Mid-Atlantic Women's Care has ruined the practice for older women. I'm sure for young or middle aged women it's still a wonderful practice. Dr Mosier is an incredibly knowledgable and kind doctor who provides the best care. The front end staff is always inviting as well, especially Barbara/Barb at the check in desk.
