William Beaumont Hospital - Hospitals Near Me - Royal Oak, Michigan

I am editing my previous Beaumont Yelp post to present more clarity as follows. During my November 2025 surgery at Corewell Beaumont Hospital my personal property disappeared from the Surgical Care Waiting Room. I've been trying, in vain, to get reimbursed ever since. Had my sister not rushed over on the day of discharge and brought me a new set of clothes, shoes and coat, I was afraid I may have gone home in my hospital gown. Until February 17, 2026 I had not even received a response from Beaumont Hospital-- Beaumont Hospital was ignoring me. However, before I went in for my scheduled surgery at Beaumont Hospital, Corewell Health notified me of their Estimated Hospital Fees, $82,000. But after my surgery, while repeatedly requesting replacement value for missing personal items ($729) while under Beaumont Hospital's care, they gave no response. Subsequently, multiple billing notifications continued to come through from Corewell Health demanding payment of a $26 balance. My loss was reported immediately during my hospital stay to the nurses, doctor, and security. The Beaumont Security Department had personally assigned a case number and an email address stating they would reimburse me. As requested, I emailed them my list of missing personal items and respective values NOT once, but 4 times. Beaumont Security never responded. On January 9, 2026, I called the Beaumont Patient Relations Department to report my still missing items and lack of response from Beaumont Security. They said they would respond in no later than 7 business days. But as of February 16, 2026, there was still no response, no update, or resolution from Patient Relations. I am not seeking special treatment--only reimbursement for items that went missing while I was under the hospital's care, and basic responsiveness from an institution that serves the public. read more

I was in for heart surgery and my surgeon and his team did a fantastic job. The nurses and techs were all wonderful especially the ones in the ICU. Everyone was professional and kind No one wants to be in the hospital but my experience was as good as can be. Thank you all! read more

If your looking for somewhere to deliver your baby that won't add to an already stressful time as first time parents AVOID Beaumont at all costs. From a medical perspective we had no issues with the care my wife received BUT operationally this place is a disaster. We were scheduled to be induced on July 2nd at the recommendation of my wife's doctor (Jay Fisher). When we arrived on the 2nd never did my wife and on think we would be sent home without our child. After 5 hours of waiting we were told the birth center was over capacity and they would "call us" at some point to come back. The explanation the staff gave was the induction was "elective" but from our POV we were just following the recommendations of her doctor (we are non the wiser to elect or not we are not doctors) We both had started our leave at our jobs already as we assumed we were going to be having the child. 5 days later my wife went into labor, thankfully as at this point we still had not been "called back" Beaumont / Corewell has been unwilling to compensate us for our loss of leave time. Upon review of our experience it was determined by their senior multidisciplinary committee that our experience was ok and did not warrant compensation. Daniel Carey the president of the hospital has been no help which shows what kind of operation he intends to run. Kurt Wharton the chief of OB didn't even have the decency to return my phone call. Amy Costello in patient Relations was an absolute joke send a letter as opposed to making a simple phone call. We won't be back. read more

Don't use Corewell Health. They don't care about their patients and are only looking to make money. I fell on hard times lately and am having a difficult time paying my inflated bills from this health system. The threshold for financial assistance from this system is so low, I would have to be homeless to receive any. I will no longer be using Corewell Health for any of my healthcare needs. This hospital is a nightmare. I cardiac unit for the ER was horrible. My husband left to run home and feed the dogs and i was in a bed that had a steel bar going across the area of the bed where your butt sits. I sat in that bed to where my legs went numb begging for a wheel chair and never received one. After 2.5 hours like this I was crying in pain. There were other elderly people screaming on the unit. I had my husband come get me. I signed myself out. I will NEVER EVER go back to that hospital. Other departments like the X-ray dept. were very nice. And checking in those people were very nice. If you have an elderly parent or family member this is not the place for them. They were more interested in there covid graphing oxide test that they stick up your nose which is a lie to get your DNA I refused it and I wouldn't sign anything to stay in that hospital and I urge anybody else do not sign that little black pad that they come around with because that gives them authority to put you on a ventilator, and can administer remdesivir. I came home I am fine. Other than my right foot being swollen and red as a tomato and scratch marks across my chest where they removed the heart monitor stickers. I am diabetic I just pray I don't lose my foot because of this that's my main concern. Please protect your family members here. read more

I didn't work for Beaumont I was hired as a cleaner for the company Mr. Kleen. when you go to this location you think there's a whole crew of cleaning people cleaning every inch of room. Well, there's only like four or five people cleaning there. you think that it's not that much but you could be really surprised how many people, coworkers and patience leave a mess. Id clean this location for four months and it was most exhausting thing ever. Me and some new coworkers found out that we were getting payed $12 an hour. And we thought we were getting paid $14 an hour. Mr. Kleen felt bad and give us a raise for $13 an hour. The supervisor acted like it was a surprise but she was faking. The supervisor was a inspirational speaker. She would use her inspirational words to make people stay at that location. I was going to go to a different location to get paid $14 an hour but she was telling me how bad that location is and how bad the manager is. so I stayed. I'm not hating on Beaumont wellness Center. Mr. Kleen doesn't hire enough people for that location. That's why So many people come and go. read more

After multiple complaints about what happened to my dad. I received another ridiculous response from Emma Goonis with patient satisfaction analyst at Beaumont Hospital. Suggesting she completed an investigation and performed a thorough review with Scott nurse manager for my dad suggesting Scott was able to address my concern with Adult Protective Services. That he was able to facilitate visitation for me through the established temporary Guardian . That was another lie from Scott who had already told multiplies lies to APS according to their report that was shared in court. I did not need anyone's permission to visit my dad. At that time I had a court order in hand allowing me to visit my dad. Confirming Scott lied again. When I gave Beaumont power of attorney documents the APS worker interfered again. I was accused of giving them fake paperwork because the date of the power of attorney paperwork was the day my dad went to Beaumont. What they don't understand my dad was competent and coherent before he went into the hospital. My dad agreed to the power of attorney paperwork on video with a notarer to show his competency. If my dad was not competent at that time the notarer would not agree to notarize a power of attorney. Beaumont does not listen to any of my complaints. I made a complaint regarding the care and treatment my dad received and Emma's response from her thorough investigation was about visitation with my dad. NOTHING about my complaint regarding how my dad suffered. Another misinterpretation was that my dad's condition was from a heart attack in 2019. That is where they made their biggest mistake by assuming that was my dad's normal. My dad's current condition was severe symptoms of hypothyroidism and a high dose of Levothyroxine Sodium. My dad had dysphagia preventing him from speaking. It was presumed that was also caused from his heart attack in 2019. That's not true either. I have so much evidence to support everything I am saying. One day the truth will come out and those will be held accountable. Beaumont does not want to take any accountability that they were wrong. They were following the lies from a Adult Protective Service worker who was discriminating against me and no one would listen because of the status and trusted position of a APS worker. This APS worker refused to look at my evidence and speak to my witness that clearly shows what she was told was a lie . There was no investigation because the aps worker refused to do so because of her discrimination against me. I tried reaching out to Marilyn and Care Management. This is not my word against hers because I can back up what I'm saying and I tried to explain this to Marilyn but after I did so say disregarded what I said and contacted APS worker and my complaint got twisted around. Again no one would help. I reached out to this worker for help but because the interactions she had with my mentally challenged brother she she worked with in the past. She affiliated me with my brother. That falls under discrimination by association. The APS worker does NOT know anything about me but presumed she did. She betrayed me to be something I'm not and that created further discrimination and mistreatment by my dad's medical team. My dad was ready to be discharged 7 days after he was admitted but because of the APS workers lies the hospital kept my dad. The APS worker also lied to the hospital and said I was being investigated for Munchausen by proxy. That lie slandered my good name with the hospital. No one made a complaint or suggested Munchausen and it was not even in her report but that didn't matter to Beaumont. I was treated terribly because that was documented in my dad's records the day he went to the hospital. She kept me away from my dad when he needed me the most and Beaumont let her. Completely ignoring the history of me helping my dad and spending the night with him anytime he was admitted. Because of Beaumont Hospital following the word of an APS worker who was discriminating against me. The allegations against me we're all false and most of them did not even involve me . After I made a complaint to this APS worker asking for help. She followed up with the supervisor of the nurse I complained about from the previous Hospital. What the supervisor told the APS worker was all distorted and hearsay. No matter how much evidence in documents , videos, and multiple Witnesses I have did not matter because I was already discriminated against by association . The APS worker refused to look at it or talk to my witness. MS COLLINS had her mind made up. My dad was suffering because he was unable to communicate so instead of allowing a family member to be with him they felt it was better for him to be doped up and put in restraints. My dad was suffering severe symptoms of hypothyroidism, unable to speak, doped up on ativan causing him to be delusional and hallucinate from the drugs. then put in restraints. read more

My daughter has been coming to the Pediatric Rehabilitation Center here for years and I couldn't be happier with the amazing therapists she has worked with. Whether it be for Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy, the service we have received has been nothing less than outstanding. Even the hospitality team in the front end greet us by name and take a moment to check in. We honestly feel like we have a family here and I have made so many wonderful friends in the waiting room while my daughter has been working hard. We also received speech therapy across the hall and it has been a pleasant experience. read more

My brother in law had open heart surgery at the Royal Oak facility. Physician care was excellent but the Open Heart ICU nursing care was awful. These are technicians at best. One nurse, Mark was caring AND competent. The others were not at all caring and certainly knew nothing about calming and caring for an anxious patient. Assessment to them is reading numbers from the monitors and diagnostic tests. Very little hands-on. Very little physical care. The ROM was never cleaned for the four days we were there. It was filthy. There was an old blood stain on the ceiling which provided reassurance for both patient and family for 4 days. There is no coordination of care among the PA's and NP's. Medication decisions were made that resulted in dangerous drops in blood pressure. When we got him home he fainted and his blood pressure was 80! When we tried to discuss this we were met with defensiveness and condescension. He had a transfer order for 2 days. In spite of this he was still tethered to all the lines and had to listen to all of the alarms. His anxiety was through the roof. I could go on but I will also say: 1- The food is inedible. It is a disgrace. How about all of the administrators eat from the patient mini 3 meals a day for 3 days? 2-The patient rooms are filthy 3-The ICU nurses with few exceptions lack empathy and the ability to manage anxious patients 4-Pain management is a disaster-no coordination 5-hygiene care pretty much does not exist 6-too many people making decisions 7-no one listens to the family who are the ones who know and love the patient If you are in need of open heart I would recommend the U of M Mary Burkett RN,DNP read more

I had a back surgery on September 11, 2020, at William Beaumont Hospital. My three day stent there was completely appalling, Tony an RN was the only individual that has a concept of his job. He showed concern of my condition the morning he started his shift the following day. The previous day of my surgery, was a complete different ballgame! The afternoon shift and midnight shift of the previous day should consider finding a different career path besides healthcare! I have never experienced such lack of professionalism, Beaumont Administration should do a far better job at screening their potential employees. Worst emergency room care I've ever had. I'm literally laying down in a restaurant right now due to a totally enept hospital staff. Thanks for the IV of uselessness. The nerve pain is running down to my foot right now and I paid you a ton of money for you to do nothing. "We don't do injections" Well, guess what. You should. You're in a hospital!! And now, I'm heading back to a hospital! Why?? You and your staff and completely dense. At one point, some cranky nurse "didn't know if I could have water". Seriously? Do you not write things down? This location is not bad through but doctors,nurses, and medical students don't always do their job too well! Nastiest faculty staff wouldn't even care enough for patients only for themselves; smelling for $$$$. Where is their. Staff was great but don't go to the ER or be admitted unless you absolutely have to or have great insurance that will pay for everything. They will charge you $3,000 for ER room alone and $2,000 for being admitted to an outpatient room (total time in the hospital was less than 18 hours). So you will owe $5,000 for just your room if you are admitted. A CT scan will cost you $3,930. I highly recommend going to Basha Imaging to save about $3,500. And if you call to dispute a charge you are told you can not (I was told numerous times I can't dispute a charge). read more

Recently I was prescribed a medication that almost killed me. It depressed my respiratory system something fierce. My girlfriend found me on the floor in the morning, blue and hardly breathing. Apparently, I had also pissed my pants. My girlfriend called 911 and I was taken to the emergency room at Beaumont. It was really nice of them to save my life, however, when I was discharged they handed me my urine soaked pants to change into. They could have given me a clean pair of scrubs. I used to work there and I know they have a stockpile of them in the basement. I got a 3,000 dollar hospital bill and I still had to ride home in my own piss. Thanks Beaumont! read more

Life is a delicate balance. Mess it up and bad things can and will happen. I write personal reviewsand it has become my trademark. This will possibly be the most personal review I have ever written, or will write. When I was looking for a job my passion was riding my bike. When I found that job, the bike riding got shelved for working. I messed up my balance, and 2 weeks ago I found myself on my back in Beaumont. The combination of eating and being the best cab driver in Detroit got to me. Add no biking and we find ourselves taking on water like an 1880's steam engine. Not good. Before long, I had a good case of congestive heart failure. It all piled up on me on Monday after work. I simply could not walk or do much of anything without getting winded. Fortunatly I was at Kroger on 8 mile and being the guy that I am or was, I decided to drive my selt over to Providence. That plan got scrapped when I found I couldn't walk 3 steps. I know that this sounds grossly stupid on my part, but there is that thing called pride, and the bible is right. It will kill you. The Ferndale FD was there getting supplies, and I had a sliver of good sense to tell one of the fire paramedics of my condition. Ambulance was summoned and they made me more comfortable. At the last minute something told me to go to Beaumont. I'm glad I did. I was wheeled into the ER and they got me on some drugs that made it a lot easier to breathe, and of course I was to be thier guest for 4-6 days. This time I began to listen to reason. No one is invincable. I'm home and doing a lot better. The diet has changed. No more fried foods, I'm watching the salt and the carbs, so my days of doing sliders is over. But thanks to Beaumont, my days on earth are not. Given that I follow what my docs tell me to do I should be around for a long time to come; and that means climbing back on the bike when i get my strength back. I hate being in the hospital, but sometimes its a must do. I would never go through what I just went through for all the tea in China, but if I ever have to go back, Beaumont is my place. I have unfortunately have needed their emergency room services a few times - three times in 6 months - and all experiences have been awful. Nurses are GREAT but the Docs don't communicate to the nurses or other staff members. In one visit, I had one Doc tell me I was being discharged, then 10 minutes later, being told I was being admitted. Like I said, the nurses are the best, the rest of the place blows! read more

I used to LOVE this hospital-it was the best and I would recommend it to everyone!! Now,not so much. My last few times here have not been great and it has NOTHING to do with COVID-I brought my 96 year old uncle in to the ER at 1pm today-now I know he is 96 BUT he still deserves good care. We were in an ER room for 3 hours before his CT scan was done-OK-they were busy.....now it is 3 1/2 hours later and we still have not got the results. All we know is they want him admitted but not sure why. So we have been here a total of 8 hours and no one has offered him anything to eat or drink-me either. No one has given us an update as to what is taking so long. I feel so bad for him. He is very uncomfortable in this bed. I asked the nurse, over an hour ago, when the doctor would be here, he said he didn't know and he would text her. I just asked him again - he said he didn't know. William Beaumont (ROYAL OAK). Please specify what Beaumont Hospital you're reviewing. Royal Oak is the main campus and one of the best hospitals in the USA as ranked by US News and World Reports. I've been a cardiac patient here since the late 1980s. Heart bypass surgery, ablation surgeries for arrhythmias, heart catherizations and stent placements for blocked arteries. All performed by some of the Top Docs in the world. The cardiac nurses are at the top of their game, extremely knowledgeable and caring. I went to the Cleveland Clinic and University of Michigan for opinions and talked to their Top Docs. After much careful research I chose Beaumont (ROYAL OAK). Now did I have to lay in the ER sometimes waiting for a room? Yes. But that's normal for any hospitals ER. So don't whine about not being seen as soon as you think you should be. They take the seriously ill REAL emergencies first. Perhaps if some people wouldn't use the ER as their personal Internist and come in for a common cold or whatever it would go much more smoothly and quickly. read more

Just got home from an ER visit and one night stay at this hospital... I've been here a few times for some surgery sand tests and appointments with several doctors, and I've always had a good experience... Last night I went in with back and chest pains and they were great... Doc kept me over night to run tests to make sure everything was good... They moved me to the emergency observation unit just want to say thank you to all the people that worked with me and got me home... Hope I won't be seeing you anytime soon... BEWARE!!!! They are part of the reason insurance costs are so high. About $700.00 per hour was the equivalent rate I was billed for Physical Therapy for a pulled muscle. 5 minutes on Exercise Bike $150.00 6 minutes on Tread Mill $150.00 Warmup (on my own) $150.00 Print out a stretch description on a piece of paper $150.00 Etc., etc., etc.... It is unbelievable what they get away with relative to what they charge. It should be criminal! A single 30-45 minute PT session elsewhere costs $70-$100. Here, at Beaumont, you're looking at $500-$650 FRAUD??? CRIMINAL??? You would think it would be. But... it's just their standard "accepted" practice. I don't know how they can get away with it. I was kind of disappointed by my experience at Beaumont Emergency Room. The nurses were kind, but the system seemed very disorganized. They accidentally gave the room I was going to be put in to another person, so I had to wait on a bed in the hall for awhile while doctors questioned me about personal information out in the open. The doctors kept telling me contradicting things and seemed to not really know what was going on. One doctor came in with contrast dye for a CAT scan and told me to drink it. Only after I had finished did another doctor come in and tell me that they had decided not to do the scan. When I asked the doctor that had initially gave me the dye, she was shocked and asked if I knew why the scan had been cancelled! I understand that the doctors there are busy and it is entirely possible that I went in on an off day but I feel that teams of doctors should communicate with each other. It was crazy to me that a doctor came in to ask me about the decision another doctor had made. read more

This is for the orthopedics floor, 9th floor South Tower, partial hip replacement: Dad had a partial hip replacement, this is usually a 4-day stay, maybe a little longer. Here we are 10 days later. He's so doped up, he can barely keep his eyes open. It doesn't matter what the family has to say, they will not listen when the family asks questions about their vulnerable adult family member, who has been on their back FOR 10 DAYS and is getting weaker. Some idiot speech pathologist comes around, decides he doesn't like what he sees, and deems Dad an aspiration risk, no food/no water (NPO). They want to install a feeding tube. We, as a family, are opposed to this option, it makes zero sense, Dad's been eating and drinking for the past week and he's fine. What do they do? You guessed it. They completely withhold ALL FOOD AND WATER FOR 48 HOURS until Mom relents, and consents to the feeding tube they've been hawking. This is called emotional torture, and they have their cash cow they're milking to the hilt. We have ZERO trust in anything we've been told and are starting the process of getting Dad transferred to UMich Ann Arbor. Fingers crossed Dad lives through this. It's unconscionable. This place is a house of horrors. I was sent here by my doctor for pain management since of coarse you never are a candidate for anything else . here they can string you along for as long as they want , just giving you enough care to keep coming back .but watch out if you start pushing then for better care they will dump you Here is the game plan they try for the expensive stuff first , like shots , shrinks, and therapy. If you are really in pain you know that is a joke So on to the meds they start u off slow and keep offering stronger stuff .if you refuse , this is where it starts going bad . since you never see the same doctor at any visit they just read your file and assume they know what is going on .if you ask questions like is their anything else they can do like surgery the quickly shoot that down remember they only want to keep you coming back not fix your problem they can't make money fixing your problem but you are worth a fortune if you keep coming back . So what happens when you try to force them to give you better care... . well rember that giant pile of paperwork you filled out well one was the drug contract this basically States if they don't believe you take your meds correctly they will dump you weather it be to much or to little . they do this by urine test and you would think they could finish the test in their lab but no they send it to ameritox another joke but u can research that. Suddenly they tell you that you are not taking your meds correctly and give u a boot in the ass . if you try to contest they will tell u it has to be randomly done . ok so I ask for a more accurate test blood or hair and they refuse they will also send u a letter that states you have 30 days to find a new but they will no longer see u or fill Scripts . since my test came back negative for my scripts both of them I wondered why they also sent me a substance abuse form West a list of clinics that deal with drug abuse... . but my test was negative for drugs this is starting to stink , so I call patient relations and explain what happened and ask if I can take a blood test at first they agree but then call and tell me the decision is final so I ask to file a formal complaint and after a few days they call back and tell me we aren't going to do anything for you and good luck I am still fighting this battle and at no part in my life have I ever had to fight to fail a drug test , so if you go there their is no random test you can be tested any time you have contact with them like picking up meds or office visits so double up on the meds those days remember you need to fail the drug test or you get the boot Hope this has been helpful read more

Why this hospital is rated #1 in Michigan I have no clue. I had been battling fibroids for years and basically got no answers even when I had private insurance. Last year I was introduced to my obgyn. At first he was very helpful and ran tests, scheduled follow ups promptly and everything.... I had a myomectomy 12/3 of last year and that when my experience went from sugar to s--t. The doctor never spoke to my family except to tell them that I was out of surgery and ok. Idk how many fibroids he removed how big they were or anything....Not only that but I'm worse off then I was before I had my surgery. Now I'm basically bed ridden because of severe pain. I'm allergic to aspirin but he'd still prescribe it to me....I was constantly dismissed when I asked if my pains could be related to other issues....I went in yesterday because he put me on a birth control that was too strong and needed it changed (never happened), I told him I'd been bleeding for almost a month (did nothing and showed no care). When I told him of my pains he told me I was lying (in so many words) and only wanted narcotics. As someone who's lost multiple family to narcotics that's the last thing I wanted, I just wanted to be able to live my life normally again. It took my mother to almost have to beg him to give me medication because he was going to leave me in pain (once again) and then he asked me what I wanted like I was a drug addict with a long list of requests....Then he said if you don't like the fact that I don't prescribe narcotics or you're not happy with my services you can tell Dr Dillon (my pcp who I told I was unhappy with the way he treated me) to refer you to someone else....there's a lot more to the story but I'll say this unless you're pregnant stay faaaar away from Dr. Theodoros Vlachos.... read more
