This is one of those instances where I didn't have to get frustrated by the "schedule with one doctor and then get another", "bait & switch" tactic employed by most doctors in the Coachella Valley area. Instead.. I was pleasantly surprised by the friendliness, efficiency, knowledge, expertise and experience level of Dr. Bryce Jolly. He is a podiatrist and I thought I was going to see an orthopedic surgeon. Apparently they looked at my xRay ahead of time and noticed that I really didn't need an orthopedic surgeon... THIS time. Podiatrist was all that I needed. My metatarsal fracture has healed well. WHAT A RELIEF! ***** 2021 has been a year of breaking bones. It was only a few months ago that I was in a BOOT, suffering pain and agony from a 5th metatarsal fracture. Three months later from the initial break, another orthopedic outfit told me that my fracture had widened and that it had not healed well. Several months later I'm shown that my fracture has healed well and that I need to always wear a solid supportive shoe.. at least for a full year before wearing sandals again. I was elated by the good news! I highly recommended Dr. Jolly.

To complicate the diagnosis I also had two other confirmed diagnoses of my knee. One doctor suggested a surgical procedure to correct one diagnosis of my knee. Another doctor said I needed a knee replacement, I did not. My Ortho doctor that I trust, confirmed that I did not need a knee replacement. Dr Tailor, who does not perform surgical procedures but looks for alternatives to surgery, determined that some of the pain in my knee was radiating from my hip and referred me back to my other, (Dr Tailor being one of them now) favorite Ortho Doctor Dustin Briggs for a hip replacement. I had the hip surgery about four months ago and the pain in my knee has definitely diminished. I still have some minor pain in my knee and still have the initial two diagnoses of my knee but the pain is not as severe. I am currently seeing Dr Tailor and he is trying options to determine what will work best. As he said, he likes to solve mysteries. He is wonderful, inquisitive and caring and has several options available, we shall see which one works. I highly recommend him. I like that surgery will be the last option, not the first.

The first time I saw, Dr. Ross explained my situation to the point where I don't need physical…read moretherapy yet that I need to get MRIs requested for bilateral hips and the lumbar. All they were supposed to do is put a request in for an RFSMRI For my bilateral hips and a second one for my lumbar. And it will take only a week or so to get approved or disapprove. They keep saying they cannot request an MRI when they can when the community care manager of my case even says they can she gave them directions and what to do to fill out the form and they gave them her personal fax number so she can submit the paperwork in and get it approved or disapproved within a week. Now it is two months later, Dr. Ross has not even once returned my phone call only once when she got back after her two week vacation saying they will look into it and they have not done any request. Dr. Ross has not returned any of my phone calls and every time I show up to the place of business she's already left for the day my case manager who's in charge of my report said that they can request an MRI. They just need to fill out the form correctly and then fax it to the right person. They have the fax number but they have not even done it once And this is two months later I am forced to go back to my primary doctor which he still cannot see me due to his car accident and he can't go to work only from home. That's why I was requested to come to this location so we can get diagnose and submit those MRIs so I can find out if I need surgery which I believe I do in two locations. I'm very disappointed. They're not taking my matters very serious. I am still in some serious pain and hurting then I've been waiting for now close to 4 to 5 months for an MRI and these people here put me behind another two more months. I am very disappointed on this location and a little bit with Dr. Ross for not returning any of the phone calls back that I asked for except for the first one when she came back from vacation, I will acknowledge that They are very incompetent and their front desk. Lady probably needs to be fired because she doesn't seem to be passing on the information. So if you need an MRI done with this company, I would not go to them because they're just gonna give you a bunch of runaround and bullshit excuses.

After my reverse shoulder replacement--performed by a top Los Angeles surgeon--I continued my…read morerehabilitation in the desert. Only eight months earlier, I'd had a rotator cuff repair by the same doctor, so I knew what excellent physiotherapy looked like. The care I'd received in Los Angeles was professional, individualized, and highly attentive. Unfortunately, my experience in the desert was the complete opposite. From the start, the therapist showed little interest in my case. She never asked about my surgeries or recovery progress and simply placed me in a corner to perform generic wall exercises. She set an egg timer, left for several minutes, and returned only when the time was up. Some of the exercises--like wall crawls--were completely inappropriate for my stage of recovery and could have caused real harm. When I told my Los Angeles physiotherapist what they had me doing, she was stunned. The desert facility operated more like a franchise focused on volume and profit than on real patient care. I should mention that the front desk receptionist was kind and helpful. When I later called to explain I'd been wrongly sent to collections--despite having already paid--she was just as surprised and agreed that it was outrageous. Still, even she never asked how my recovery was going, which says a lot about the lack of genuine follow-up or personal concern throughout my treatment experience. As for the financial side, it was equally frustrating. I have top-tier insurance that fully covers my treatments, plus a secondary policy for co-pays. The staff, however, couldn't be bothered to contact my second insurer. I had to handle reimbursement on my own, and despite proof of payment through canceled checks, I was turned over to collections for a $30 balance I was never even notified about. The entire experience was mishandled from start to finish.

So here I am, 5 months later and finally seeing an orthopedic doctor about it. The office staff was extremely nice. However, when Dr. Pooyan came in the treatment room, with a couple students, the floor was his. Not much space in there for me, the patient. He would ask me a question, then interrupt me. A couple times I seriously only got 4 words in. He simply wore me down. He asked if they had X-rays of my hand, which I had hoped he looked at already. But no. He glanced at the X-ray there. Glanced is not an exaggeration. I felt as if I was being cross examined. In the end, he said I probably have arthritis and the trigger isn't bad enough. I was then dismissed. He heard what he wanted and that was it, mind you what he wanted wasn't what I said, or tried to say. Example : He asked if I had shots in my fingers for it and I said yes. Two fingers, two shots. Yet, from then on, he stated I had two shots per finger. There simply wasn't room for or time for me. He simply didn't listen and I finally gave up. I wanted to leave. Obviously, I left with questions. I have no clue how to help it. My copay is high, and I absolutely feel ripped off. Even if he thought he could help, I don't think I'd return. Guess I'm of to Mexico, because it hurts so bad that it wakes me up at night. I've taped two fingers together for over a month now and I feel pathetic.
