After my reverse shoulder replacement--performed by a top Los Angeles surgeon--I continued my rehabilitation in the desert. Only eight months earlier, I'd had a rotator cuff repair by the same doctor, so I knew what excellent physiotherapy looked like. The care I'd received in Los Angeles was professional, individualized, and highly attentive. Unfortunately, my experience in the desert was the complete opposite. From the start, the therapist showed little interest in my case. She never asked about my surgeries or recovery progress and simply placed me in a corner to perform generic wall exercises. She set an egg timer, left for several minutes, and returned only when the time was up. Some of the exercises--like wall crawls--were completely inappropriate for my stage of recovery and could have caused real harm. When I told my Los Angeles physiotherapist what they had me doing, she was stunned. The desert facility operated more like a franchise focused on volume and profit than on real patient care. I should mention that the front desk receptionist was kind and helpful. When I later called to explain I'd been wrongly sent to collections--despite having already paid--she was just as surprised and agreed that it was outrageous. Still, even she never asked how my recovery was going, which says a lot about the lack of genuine follow-up or personal concern throughout my treatment experience. As for the financial side, it was equally frustrating. I have top-tier insurance that fully covers my treatments, plus a secondary policy for co-pays. The staff, however, couldn't be bothered to contact my second insurer. I had to handle reimbursement on my own, and despite proof of payment through canceled checks, I was turned over to collections for a $30 balance I was never even notified about. Early in the year I sprained my shoulder, and I was in horrible pain. I couldn't lift my arm, hook my bra, scratch my head, sleep or carry even a light bag of groceries. I really like this place! Everyone is super friendly and nice. The receptionists always call you a day before to let you know your appointment. Also the therapists don't try and push you to hard they take notes and watch how you feel, give you advice on what to do. Most of all I feel like they actually care if I'm getting better. read more

I first arrived at Pass Physical Therapy Palm Springs in 2017, choosing them based upon their location near my home; perhaps an unusual yet in my case quite a fortuitous manner in which to make a decision. Here I am 4 years later so grateful to have made that decision after having had a variety of physical issues resolved through the professional expertise of Leo, Larry and their therapist and administrative colleagues. Leo's leadership skills are surpassed only by his expertise and care in helping others gain back their strength. Larry has been the single most important factor in bringing back my ability to function after a variety of orthapedic issues have inhibited my movement and led to pain that he has helped to resolve more effectively than other physical therapists I have trusted in Connecticut and Illinois over the past 25 years. The skill, care and results that I have received from Leo, Larry, and the other physical therapists at Pass Physical Therapy is reason enough for you to consider them favorably. Yet, wait...there's more... ...And then there's Antonio....in many ways the heartbeat of Pass Physical Therapy. Although this young man is undeniably brilliant in assisting with medical insurance and administrative issues, he is hardly contained behind the front desk. Instead he intuitively moves throughout the facility providing every imaginable kind of assistance with care and expertise found only in those individuals who are destined to care for others. Don't choose a physical therapy facility based upon their location for you may not be as lucky as me. Don't base your decision on random negative comments you may read that are not based in reality. I have had frozen shoulder surgery in the past, and did not want to go the surgery route with an orthopedic surgeon as I had done before. I was thrilled to find out it was an impingement. I came to Pass PT in Palm Springs last week after I injured my ankle and could not walk. A medical specialist in a hospital campus that I consulted with told me that my injury was severe and that I would need surgery......and after that, they said I would not be able to walk for a long time. I am so happy I called Pass instead of following this (incorrect) prescription. I was assigned to Kristina, whom I discovered is a SUPER-STAR physical therapist because, after only two sessions with her, the pain is gone, I can walk without suffering, and I'm no longer limping!!!!! After examining my ankle, Kristina most competently told me precisely what was wrong -- and how she would help me. What surprised me was Kristina's empathy for my situation was more than I had ever expected (or experienced before), and she relaxed me and assured me she knew what to do to help me. The result: I discovered that Kristina is a miracle worker! I have never seen a physical therapist who is this concerned, kind, professional, and understanding. Kristina is a genius -- both emotionally and mentally -- really exceptional and the greatest ever!! I doubt many PTs are as phenomenal as Kristina. I feel that she ranks in the top 1% in her field. Thank you, Kristina; I would be at home in bed and suffering without you. You saved me from the dark unknown. Instead of grief, I'm back at the gym, walking 4 miles a day and swimming -- in only three days!! What a great gift Kristina is to the world!! Thanks again!! Not only is Kristina the greatest, but so is Alicia, the Pass receptionist. She is the most sensitive and professional receptionist I have ever seen anywhere. I appreciate everything she did to help me get my appointments fast and in the afternoons -- even when Pass was completely booked. I have personally hired many receptionists for my business, but I have never seen anyone as loving, responsible, and 1000% there for the client as Alicia. She goes the extra mile, and this kind of extra care is very rare. I always felt like she wanted the best for me -- and was only focused on doing her best. Alicia is totally focused on helping others, and because she was so positive, open, and competent -- I was very impressed. Alicia is a brilliant receptionist in every way, and I will not forget how she made me feel when I entered the building and how she went out of her way to help me. After my first appointment, I talked to another patient in the parking lot who told me she felt the same about Alicia. The woman said that she, too, was totally blown away by Alicia's great attitude and how she had gone beyond what was required to help her too! My neurologist sent me to Pass Therapy because I have severe neuropathy in my feet and legs which has reduced the stability of walking and has caused me to be extremely cautious when walking, especially on uneven surfaces. I have been going twice a week for the past two months and have definitely noticed an improvement due to the stretching and walking exercises the staff puts me through. The entire staff is dedicated to see improvement in my condition. After my first visit I felt a connection with each and every person working there and truly feel their interest in improving my condition. I have been going here for a few months and this place is awesome! I am not easily pleased and I have nothing bad to say, only good. The front desk, Jennifer, is so nice and caring. Antonio is very helpful and friendly. He always checks in during PT and makes sure the patients are okay etc. He is definitely a hard worker and very intelligent. I usually have Ari and she is the best. She listens to how I am feeling and adjusts accordingly. She ALWAYS goes the extra mile. At first I did not think PT would help me, but Ari proved that wrong! Every time I leave I feel better with my progress and I am so happy with it. read more

I never, ever thought I would be doing this, so let's go back to the beginning. On January 1, 2017, I wrote a glowing and well-deserved comment in Facebook about Pass Physical Therapy. In the main, part of it is still true. I still think that the working staff at the Palm Springs facility are among the best I have known. This isn't so much about therapy; this is about management. I have a limited income- I'm not poor, but I don't have money to burn. I also have ALS which makes my life complex from time to time. Everything was fine in the beginning with Medicare paying for PT with no co-pay. When Medicare ran out, I asked the owner, Leo Adorador, about supplementary insurance that would cover the co-pay. I know very little about insurance. He said I needed a PPO policy and not an HMO policy. I went out to find a PPO that would pay my co-pay. The first PPO I found had a hard time finding Pass, but they did and I signed up. I was surprised to find they had a $40 co-pay. The second one I found and signed up with was the same way. The third one told me Pass was one their list of approved, so I signed up. They also wanted $40 as a co-pay. That's when I hit the wall. Changing insurance companies is very tough to do, so it takes a real effort. Then, through a chance conversation with a couple people at their Palm Springs facility, I found out that Pass was not the name Leo bills under. He bills under his name, Adorador and not Pass. This explains why insurance companies had so much trouble finding Pass. Then, I signed up with Highmark, which is BC/BS for old people and I used my real address in PA. I have a couple of friends employed there and I made sure that there would be no co-pay for PT at Pass. They sent a document that authorized 12 visits and another document showing that there was no co-pay for the actual treatment itself, but there was for the pre-treatment exam. Adorador should have told me that he didn't bill under Pass in the beginning and I wouldn't have wasted my time and my doctors' time also. I do not trust or respect him in the least and a couple of my doctors will never refer a patient to Pass. His smiling face smiles a lot more when he goes to the bank. And then there's Antonio with a heart as big as the Pacific Ocean and a brain the size of a pea, from an administration stand point. I had already four visits for which I paid for, the first one being the exam. When I paid for them, I expected it to be a little more than $50, but young lady taking my money said no, it was $50. When I came in yesterday, I brought with me the documentation from the insurance company that that shows how much my insurance will be paying and that I will not have any co-pay on the rest. When I showed Antonio the documentation, he told me that he had taken it upon himself and called the insurance company and whoever answered the phone told him I had a $25 co-pay and he didn't care about the written documentation. Antonio hasn't got enough brain cells when it comes to billing an out of state insurance company and some of my other doctors had problems and told me about them. All I did was to call PA and the insurance company called the doctors and guided them to getting paid. Antonio pulled all of those bad memories of the efforts I had to make for a year to get the right insurance back out and I was fed up with the bullshit that was flowing out of his mouth so I exploded, said some ugly things and left. Adorador made my life somewhat miserable and I think he's a asshole. I was trying to do what he told me to do and should have given me the right information Antonio is just plain stupid and shouldn't be allowed to make telephone calls. My therapist Theresa was/ is great, patient, friendly, I found her very knowledgeable. The problem I have with Spine and Sports is that they have the worst answering service I've ever come across..You call and call to make or cancel an appointment and you never get a live person, you leave a message to please return my call, you never get a return call or you call the Indio office and wind up being transferred to the Palm Springs office...I just called again to find out if I've got an appointment set up for tomorrow Thursday, left a message, I'll be really surprised if I get a return call....Better off making ALL your appointments while your there recieving therapy....Just the worst! read more
