I knew I wanted to send my children there one day. Fast forward a few years, I have one child enrolled and the second who will be starting next year. The school far exceeded my expectations from all aspects! It's a great community, amazing staff, lots of fun enrichment options, strong academic support, and most importantly my child loves attending SMOW. Such a great school choice!

Over nearly two decades, we've experienced every grade level, every teacher, and every stage of childhood. Through it all, SMOW has provided not only an excellent education, but a foundation of faith, leadership, and character that will stay with our kids forever. The teachers truly know their students, not just by name, but by heart. They meet each child where they are, encourage their individual strengths, and help them grow into confident, capable, and kind young people. The sense of community is unmatched, families support one another, teachers and staff go above and beyond, and the parish connection makes it feel like an extension of home. There's something special about walking into St. Mary of the Woods, you feel it immediately. It's faith, it's pride, it's joy. We couldn't have asked for a better place for our children to grow up.

The teachers were so awful and their teaching was awful even Ms Piña, I will never forget how the principal hired a women named Ms roach who was a music teacher back in 2014 to 2015 and that women made me cry and she didn't even say sorry to me for what she said to including the social workers never called CPS for helping me escaping my toxic family from my fathers side and getting out of the abuse I had with the father of my two younger brothers. I try to give them a sign for them to called them and get involved they did called Chicago Police but they didn't do nothing to help me or my mother to escaped from my family with my father and my brothers father even the food is so disgusting I would never forget I almost ate a rotten orange and they never changed the lunch menu even I got sick from it once, After all those years of being quiet about it I how they treated me and how they ignored my safety and never teach anyone from easy way to the hard way and to this day I wished they changed the dress code back then even that one time one of the teachers took my magazine when it was just women clothing when in their words were "inappropriate" when it's just a women clothing magazine not a s#xual women clothing magazine. I hope they'll realized what they did was awful and really shitty for not helping me and I wished them nothing but the worst, For everyone who was a victim of abuse don't go to Farnsworth Elementary because they'll ignored the signs and not helping you.

Niles West High School - Well, I kept 5 classes of students awake and interested! Hopefully they learned and/or were inspired by something. One can only hope.

These are the sort of community based events that a public school's facilities should be used for, bringing the general public in to show what the tax dollars are being used for, and giving prospective students/parents an idea of what's ahead next. It is a large auditorium, with comfortable seating and good acoustics. It can host a large production, with a lot of available seating. It also has dedicated auditorium parking very close to the main auditorium entrance, but it's limited. The studio had 6 shows in all this Sunday, and between show 3 and 4, it was definitely busy in the parking area, but everyone was dealing with it happily: a beautiful day outside and a show that makes you feel young.

Other alums who've made the news are Rick Singer (think Lori Laughlin/Full House college admissions advisor) and George Papadopolous (foreign policy advisor for President Trump). Of course there are sports stars - Rashard Mendenhall (Steelers) and Jewel Lloyd (WNBA), Bart Conner (Gold medalist), etc. But what I really like about Niles West is that it's probably the most diverse high school in the country - by race, national origin and socio- economic status. See - a lotta people talk about supporting diversity but don't exactly want to live in it. Niles West embraces the over 100 different languages and makes it happen. And you don't have to be an elitist to attend this school, however, with hard work and good grades - you'll find yourself in elite company, in the very near future.

That being said my opinion about Edison Park Elementary is that it is slightly better than average. My opinion is based not only on academics, but safety, teachers, front office staff and extra curricular activities. Academics are very good. The safety, in my opinion, is terrible. Anyone can get into the building at anytime quite easily. I was in law enforcement for 10 years so I believe I'm qualified to assess the building's security. Teachers and extra curricular activities are very good as well. This brings me to the front office. Horrible. I have dealt with this individual on several occasions over the past four years and observed this person's interactions with others so I could rule out whether it was just a personality conflict between the two of us. It is not. The person at the front desk is rude and often ignores people who are standing right in front of her! She always makes you feel like a bother. She emanates negative energy and rarely smiles or says things like please or thank you. Overall the school is in my opinion slightly better than average and will hopefully improve on the negatives mentioned above. I give Edison Park Elementary 7 tassels out of 10.
