Now I come occasionally to check it out with my friends still in Southside. My favorite vendors that come here are Maharajah Coffee and First Stop Donuts. I love the people running them! I enjoy that it's right in the park so there are quite a few benches to sit on. There are also fun paths to explore with a warm drink and yummy snacks. I highly recommend ordering goodies from the vendors then having a picnic in Forest Hill Park. On my recent visit, I bought some rainbow carrots, acorn squash, spaghetti squash, fennel, and Europa fresh bread. As it gets colder there can be fewer vendors, but they carry everything you could hope and dream of. I loved checking out a vendor that sold holiday candles. There is tons of parking here and it's easy to bike or bus to. I'd recommend checking this market out.

Thanks to my 2-seater I just squeezed between two cars that really didn't care about conscientious parking to allow another car room to park! The social media ad for the farmers market said 30 to 40 vendors. Didn't feel that there were as many. Maybe because of the weather. I got some goat milk bath soap!

Not only are the products good, there is a plethora of options, from coffee and ice cream to bread and biscuit to pierogi and ravioli to eggs and cheese; produce, flowers, knife sharpening, the list goes on... parking can get a little tricky sometimes but there are plenty of lots around so just keep circling you'll get a spot. I love coming to the farmers market after we get some breakfast around the corner and even if we just walk through and don't even buy anything. This is a seasonal market that runs from 10am-2pm every Thursday; mid-May through mid-September. They had a great variety of vendors. The food vendor that caught my eye had lobster rolls. There were two or three stands for fresh produce. They also had a few craft vendors and vendors selling homemades like soaps and dog treats. Only 1 MLM company from what I noticed. They also had a few local organizations. I spent most of my time talking to the local 4H Office representatives. As a former 4-Her this was a really nice surprise! This is a great way to spend a Thursday afternoon in Newport News, plus parking is free! You can also enjoy the shops and restaurants throughout City Center! The LOVE NN sign is just around the corner. You can get a new profile pic to proudly show your love for Newport News and it's hidden treasures... like this market!

Tickets were $8 a person and can't be purchased online from my knowledge. We got skewers, milkshake, pork belly skewers with pancit and lumpia, mango sticky rice, spicy mayo karaage, and takoyaki. We got the spicy skewers which really packed a punch of heat, a little bit too much for our personal comfort. My favorite was the shrimp because it was so snappy. The beef and lamb was tender but did not blow us out of the water. The pork belly had a nice snap from the collagen and fatty parts. The Ferrero Rocher milkshake was so delectable. The service was quick, consistency was not too liquid and not too firm that we couldn't drink it with a straw. Overall a solid milkshake. The sticky mango rice had perfectly ripe mangos but the sticky rice wasn't that fragrant, super creamy though. The original takoyaki were on the larger side but most of the takoyaki was just batter/ not much filling and seafood inside. Though we got it when all the booths were about to close so for $5 for 6 pieces we couldn't really complain. The spicy mayo karaage was a little tough but some pieces were so well crisped and the slight kick from the spicy mayo helped counteract the heaviness of a fried food item. Loved the pork belly skewers from the Filipino food stand, it was very umami and marinated. the lumpia was also not too oily and so crispy. Though the pancit was kind of bland and seemed more to just act as a bedding for the other food items on top of it. They give you sweet and sour sauce as well a vinegar sauce which we ended up pouring onto the pancit for more flavor. The night market also had fair games. Most of them were $10 to play. Toilets were also relatively clean and felt comfortable enough to use for cleaning up after eating all the food.

A band plays music while kids run around and people enjoy a relaxed market experience. There's even a guy who sharpens knives, and a master gardener giving advice. The vendors provide excellent service and are very neighborly. We are so fortunate to have this friendly market in Toano!

The market starts at 8. We arrived around 930 and it was already very very crowded but luckily we found a parking spot in their small parking garage.

From Chesapeake it was about a 25 minute drive out to this farm in Pungo. We went early, around 12 , on a Saturday afternoon. We wanted to be the rain. You have to purchase and choose available pick times online. You can arrive anytime but can't do the u-pick until your designated slot time. We arrived and there was plenty of parking. We looked around the market first. It wasn't huge but they had a great variety of different jams, jellies, salsa, baked goods and fresh fruit and veggies. Everything was reasonably priced! We went directly outside the market to a little table to check in for blueberry picking! There young lady was polite . She scanned our qr code and gave us arm bands. She did let us know that there were a couple blackberry bushes out there as well that we could pick also. It isn't advertised because they're aren't a lot of plants. A short walk to the entrance to the patch and there picking began!! It was nice because there weren't a lot of people out so the rows weren't crowded. The bushes still had lots of ripe fruit on them! We picked for about 20 minutes, Paid 8 dollars for our pint and went to the car to take a much needed cool off break. We were told that we could walk or drive over to the orchard. It wasn't a long walk, but in the heat, and if you're carrying a box of peaches, it could be a bit much. We drove over to the orchard, parked and checked in at a little shed nearby. we picked peaches for about twenty minutes and even noticed that there were a couple nectarine trees as well. the peaches were not ripe.However, that did not deter us from picking. A simple trip home and storing them in a brown paper bag would ripen them up perfectly in about three days! We paid 20 for a half peck box. It filled up very quickly. Overall great experience!! We are going back to try the ice cream and to pick apples during that season!

My friends and I purchased tickets an ahead of time online and we did have to ask where to go for peach picking once we got there. The fruit fields were gorgeous and kept so nice. At the peach fields we were given a 1/2 peck baskets to pick and then purchase. After picking we paid at the booth, we checked out the farm stand where they sell fresh homemade ice cream. The ice cream flavors rotate. Flavors I noticed were sweet corn and Ube. This is a great place to bring family for fun activities.
