I would give zero if possible…read more We rented a boat for the 1/2 day afternoon on Feb 20. They advertise the boat would be a Bennington boat. They gave us an old boat, radio didn't work, and top was extremely hard to retract which we had to do before going thru an underpass upriver. The boat acted weird but 1 hour down the river the boat completely quit! Called and they sent Todd an hour upstream (nice guy) to us. He couldn't get the boat started, so had to pull us back to their dock. So 3 hours spent on the water with only one hour of our 4 hour rental enjoyable. Todd assured us over and over they would make this right, we would not be charged, not our fault, etc. Todd did offer us another boat, but it was 3:30 and I'm sure they would not have waited for us to get our other 3 hours, I would not want to be on the river after dark! It's now March 11, we have returned to TN the end of Feb and still no credit for our broken down boat. After countless phone calls, the owner Stan finally agreed on March 6 to refund half our 300$ spent. It's now March 11 and no money has been refunded. Be careful renting from this company, and don't let them give you the old brown pontoon. If Todd had told us the policy was "no refund" we would have got another boat before we left the end of February!

Herlong Mansion review: Her (Kim, the owner) website states…read morethat the Mansion is the "most eloquent bed and breakfast in Florida". So that coupled with a $386 price tag for one night gave me great expectations. Right out of the gatem the trumped-up antique piano was a bomb. No self-respecting pianist worth their salt would be caught dead playing such an atrociously neglected and out of tune instrument. The website said we would be offered complementary wine or beer. Never happened. We paid extra $40 for two people in room, yet only one key. If you plan to sit at the table on the very hot (with no fans) balcony, take some cleaning wipes with you as it was filthy. The room door has a mounting for security chain, but no chain. The drapes just barely cover the glass on the windows. Disconcerting for sure. The wood floor is sticky beneath your bare feet. Yuck! Bathroom lighting is so poor you only hope you got your eyebrow pencil somewhere close to your eyebrows. The toilet is so low it must have been meant for children, oh wait, no children in the big house. Cheapest toilet paper ever, your fingers go right through it! The no slip strips on the bottom of the tub were loose and flying in the breeze. Safety first! A book about Floridian painters, antique or not, is only of value if one can actually turn the pages. When it is falling apart literally at the seams it is classified as junk! The cook, "E" was delightful and went above and beyond expectation. The layer of dust on every windowpane in the dining room was a little gross. Being old and decrepit does not qualify as "eloquent" , and is not worth the exorbitant price tag.

If I could break down this Inn's features, I would give the room 2.5 stars, the common areas 4 stars, and the breakfast 4 stars. We met this couple from Atlanta and we had a great time getting to know them, so 5 stars for that. Now the 'needs improvement' area, the room (ours was the Dogwood). Floors boards were cupped, and both the doors to the shower and toilet would not close due to the house settling. The doors to the upstairs common balcony would not easily open and all the locks were damaged or missing. The saving grace was the bed was super comfy! Even with the issues with the room we do plan on returning.

1000% YES - this place is awesome! SO much better than every other hotel we've stayed at in…read moreFlorida. This hotel felt like and treated their guests like a true 5 star hotel. First....the grounds are beautiful, well maintained and vast. Upon arrival there's a choice of valet or self-park just out front. Before you can even get to the door someone has rushed to open it and greet you warmly. In fact, 1 guy was there at noon when we arrived and still there at 9pm. Even at 9pm he was still hustling, smiling and putting in just as much effort as he was many hrs earlier. The excellence of staff continued beyond the doormen. Every single staff member we encountered was equally engaged, acknowledged guests, was friendly and was genuinely competent at their job. SO refreshing!! We never saw any of the staff on their phones or busy talking with each other. The work ethic & polish this hotel expects from staff is obvious, appreciated & makes an impact on how we felt as guests. Upon entry, the lobby is gorgeous! Pristine, classy yet inviting. Loved the player piano & large fireplace. There were even some really lovely olive wood crosses available at the front desk, which was an especially nice touch over Easter. Often when a lobby is beautiful, the rooms are a let down. Not here! I didn't see any areas that were in need of attention. Our room felt incredibly clean - no missed corners, grimy spots, etc. It was immaculate and so welcoming...oh, and the room was really really big...and so comfortable. There was a large 2 door closet as well as a smaller closet for our child to use and appreciated having 3 suitcase holders that could fit into the closets so we didn't have to look at them in the room. The chairs in the room were actually comfortable to sit in and made sense with their location. Beds were wonderful and I might have to get 1 of their pillows as it was the first night in awhile that my neck hasn't hurt. Winning! The chocolates by the bedside were a fun treat, particularly the lemon truffle. The next key takeaway from this hotel is how clean it is everywhere. Already mentioned the lobby & rooms, but were out by the arena after the candy shop had closed and the person cleaning had all chairs completely off the floor, rug rolled up and outside and was cleaning like they wanted it to shine. My husband immediately noted that's a sign that someone actually taught the person how they wanted it cleaned rather than just asking them to clean. Big difference. Seriously - I could write a novel about this hotel/property and how great it was. Dog portraits line the walls and halls. There's a small patisserie (large one in the Manor, which you also need to explore), toy shop, bar, restaurant and shops to explore. You MUST stop at the patisserie - fresh, beautiful. We grabbed some items in a lovely box to take home as a gift. We also had breakfast at Stirrups and fully recommend dining here. It was wonderful and blew away all the "best" restaurants in Ocala. Our fruit platter was customizable, came with pink pineapple slices (!) and dragon fruit bits. The 3 egg omelet was the size of a 6 egg omelet and had more beautifully cooked bacon than one could hope. While filling our water glasses the pitcher dripped a couple times. Love that our server was right there with her towel to notice every detail. Beyond the really delicious food and outstanding service, we loved watching the horses warming up in the arena outside, looking around at the many dog portraits in the room and relaxing in the large leather chairs. HUGE shout out to the management staff! It's obvious the leadership here has expectations, does comprehensive training with staff and is actively engaged in ensuring the quality of the hotel. Is The Equestrian Hotel more expensive than the other hotel on site or hotels closer to town - yes, but it's so worth it and we would happily pay a higher price to stay here. Thank you for the wonderful weekend retreat!! We can't wait to return!

There's plenty of outdoor seating, spots to have a fire and even bicycles you can rent during your stay. We stayed in the Firefly cottage that has an unobstructed view of the water from its private back porch. Every morning we received freshly ground coffee and enjoyed it on the porch watching the jumping trout and pelicans. It was really relaxing and serene. The cottage itself had everything you'd need and was super clean. Cute little kitchen area, fully stocked with plates and utensils. Bathroom with plenty of towels, toiletries and places to hang your bags. There's also a living room area with tv and queen sized bed. The cottage is so cozy and decorated with the coolest art and books. The best part are the hosts/owners. Ian and Darrin were so warm and welcoming. You can tell they love what they do. They know all the best spots in town too! The cottages are also only a 15 minute walk to town. We walked everywhere when we were there which was good considering all the tasty diner food we had.

After reading all the reviews, I would say give this place another try. We recently stayed there during their soft reopening after Hurricane Helene. While there was not many guests, reception, continental breakfast and housekeeping were all handled well. The room is akin to a basic hotel room, no frills but comfortable and there is a mini fridge. It was comfortable. My only complaint is the water pressure in the shower. My favorite feature is the manatee water fountain at the front of the property. Even if you choose to stay elsewhere, stop by to check out the fountain.

Booked directly with hotel. This is the price of a decent room in a decent hotel. First, this place is undergoing renovations from a prior flood a few years ago (why still under renovation after so long?) - so expect nothing fancy. There was trash around the grounds and hallways. The sound traveled down the halls into the rooms because of all the tile - expect LOTS of noise. We had to call maintenance because our dresser drawers kept rolling out - they sent someone up to tape the drawers shut (classy!). This place is the quality of a Motel 6! They did not provide full service housekeeping - they only changed towels and did not straighten up or even make the beds. When I asked about this, they said they made this change recently because they lacked staff. But, the price did not change as a result. I argued that I was not informed of this on booking and since they removed this service after I booked the rooms they should charge less. The manager checked with the new owners who said they would not refund anything. Obviously they care less about customer service than making a profit. Sad. When you stay in a hotel, you should have your beds made (they don't have to change the linens, but at least make the beds). The breakfast - cold stuff, nothing special. The lady who oversaw this was very friendly though. This place is just dirty and outdated (even the so called "renovated" parts). The only good thing is it being conveniently located next to the charter boats for scalloping. I would not stay here again.

We really enjoyed our time in Cedar Key and this RV campground had some good and some bad. The RV campground is older and its layout was probably carved by organic growth, rather than pre-planned out. Driving our 36' RV around the RV campground was difficult and for the first time ever, I had to ask someone to move their car so I could park in the spot. The flip side is everyone is very friendly, they have an onsite restaurant, and oh yeah... beautiful waterfront sunset views. The family would head to a dock and enjoy some time watching the sun go down every day. During the morning dog walk, I would stop to enjoy the beautiful nature that surrounds the RV campground. This RV park had water, sewer, electric and cable hookups. There was a laundry room, which was clean and had some newer machines. The WiFi was good but not always reliable. I was disappointed to find there was no playground nor dedicated dog walk. When we did leave, I found it hard to leave. The town and the RV campground were very laid back. I never once felt stressed out during my stay, since Cedar Key is at the end of the road there was no road traffic or noise. Would I recommend this park? Absolutely. Would we come back? We are debating returning to Cedar Key in a month, but we will absolutely come back. Informational: We travel in a 36' Class A RV.
