I wanted to host an amazing event for the ruskin community and local talent but I was dealing with…read morethe most unprofessional event center in history. I don't even know where to begin. I met with the owner on tuesday to view the event space. I decided the same day that I would like to pay for the venue and host this event. The owner of Cristina Event Center named Martha told me she was at a burial for a family member and couldn't respond to me in a timely manner. Now this is after i had to repeatedly text her because she was not answering. After finding that out, I decided to wait. I sent her another message knowing she'll see it whenever she got home because she told me she would send the contract that same day. Never got a response back. I was repeatedly trying to get in contact with her for 5 days because of her saying she was going to send the contract (which she never did). I've been collecting vendor fees, and brainstorming decorations, getting in contact with event planners, etc. The last message between her and I was of me sending her 4 messages throughout the day and her not responding. Yesterday she FINALLY told me I can stop by the event space Sunday after 5pm which is TODAY. So even though she never responded to me, I still decided to go because my community is relying on me. As soon as we parked at the event space, We noticed the lights are on meaning someone is in the building. We went in and saw a man, who rolled his eyes at my mother and I prior to anything being said. I asked for Martha and he told us she would be right out because she was finishing the contract. I'm thinking...the contract she said would be done 5 days ago??? okay. So we waited, viewed the event space, measured things out, thought of more ideas. Then Martha comes out with a smile on her face. I'm not thinking anything is funny. This is because I've collected money from future vendors and it's not okay that Martha is giving me the run around on booking the location. Now FYI martha also told me even though she did not send the contract, the 19th of december is secured for me. So i did not collect money until she said that. Anyway, I ask her why she hasn't been responding to my messages, she brought up her uncles burial. I told her that was 5 days ago. I would've at least liked her to communicate with me because I saw her posting on facebook. She got snappy with me and told me I can either book it or not because 2 other people want it. Which i felt was very rude. I continued to tell her how unprofessional it was to not communicate with me knowing that she told me the date was secured for me and that the date is right around the corner ! She told me that this is her part time job and that 2 other people run it as well. PLEASE tell me if i'm wrong but she as the business owner/event planner should tell ME the customer that. How would I have known that? She should have decided that if she cannot communicate with me, she needs to find someone that can! When i call the business number , her name comes up for the voicemail, when i go to their offficial facebook page, HER face is on there. THEREFORE I as the customer am going to assume that you are the only person I can go through!!! So in my opinion she was absolutely wrong! I took the contract from her to read it and then realized that this is a red flag, these people are rude, unprofessional, and I cannot trust them with mine, or anybody else's money. So Its really sad becauseI just wanted to do something for the community . This really is the most unprofessional, probably racist event space ever. They will never get my money or anyone I know!
