Try the couscous salad for a lovely non-meat option, or one of their daily specials if you are looking for something more hardy (I had the seafood chowder and it filled me up until dinner easily!) We also split one their apricot melting moments... and like its name suggests - it really did make me stop and just enjoy the brilliant creamy mixture of biscuits, buttery icing and apricot chunks. However my latte was so watery and tasteless I could barely drink it! The decor was cute and it was overall a good experience but it is a cafe so the coffee needs to be good- it really let me down! We picked a sausage roll (delicious with crisp onions, juicy sausage, and a buttery flaking shell), a big breakfast (they mean BIG with some of ever breakfast love), and the museli bowl (I've grown to love this NZ staple, eating it at ever free continental breakfast I loved it so much I had to order it out on the day we didn't have hotel breakfasts). The museli combination was my favorite in all of NZ; so I was happy I stuck with my morning routine. I wish I could buy their granola and take it home in bags. They combine it with generous amounts of fruit, warm honey, and a creamy fruity yogurt. Their flat white had a creative foam drawing. The coffee had a crisp, bright flavor, with subtle hints of rich chocolates and cream.

When I go to Urge (and this is quite often!), I usually order eggs benedict with bacon or salmon. Compared with other establishments in Hamilton, Urge stands apart from them all. Here's why: the hollandaise is made on sight every morning by the cafe owners. Hollandaise at other cafes are usually too thick or too soupy to be edible. Urge's hollandaise is perfection! Having travelled the world and having frequented cafes in London, New York, San Francisco, Singapore, etc, etc, I can say that Urge stands up with the best! Besides that they offer a wonderful breakfast, they also have amazing coffee and an incredibly large selection of teas. The coffee is never burnt (it's very common in New Zealand and in Hamilton especially for baristas to burn the coffee), is the correct mix of milk if you want a latte or a flat white (there is a difference, and that difference is lost on most baristas in New Zealand!), and is hot (again and weirdly, New Zealand baristas prefer to serve cold coffee!). As for tea, you may ask for anything and they will serve it to you. I found this stunning because usually tea shops prefer not to serve something in-house from one of their loose leaf tins. Granted, I neither instruct food & beverage classes nor do I have a tizzy because my eggs benedict weren't served centred on my plate. So, maybe you'll just have to check out Urge on your own and get disappointed by the stellar service and delicious eats. Have a go!

I got a medium roast in a glass w/ skim milk, and they added 1 teaspoon of organic sugar and it made my mouth sing! WaAaAaA. Also, the staff was extremely friendly and talkative. Knew the regulars by name when they walked in, and asked if they wanted the usual. Yes, this is the best cup of joe I had in the land of the Kiwi. Highly recommended.

Service was friendly and prompt; the wait staff giving my son two marshmallows (despite the fact that we did not order any coffees) was a very sweet touch that kept him happy until our lunch arrived. We ordered the Elvis pancakes to share and this was an extremely generous serving. Between the two of us we still didn't manage to finish. There's water available from a sweet little bar cart in the middle of the room and I also had a white grapefruit juice. Everything was delicious. Good value for money; would visit again.

A friend of mine suggested it as a location for my new-parents coffee group and it has been a great location for us. I've had the flat whites and they are above-average. What makes me really happy is that they have a good supply of cronuts on a regular basis - delish! Last week I had a peppermint slice that tasted good, but was so rock hard I couldn't cut it with a knife. The staff have been friendly and attentive and accommodate our baby-sprawl without complaint. There are 2 large rooms for seating, as well as outdoor seating. There are some couches available as well, which has been nice for those of us newborn-toting mamas.
