This was a neat find while driving back to Auckland. This is a legit tea estate where all the tea they sell and serve is harvested on property. They have a tea shop where you can buy various teas. It was too packed and there wasn't much info on how to sample or purchase the teas, the I did a quick walk in/around the shop before heading to the Tea House. The Tea House absolutely requires a res. I walked in thinking it was just a place to grab tea and a bite, but they have reserved tables and will not seat you without a res. The best they could do to accommodate me as one person was to put me on the little sofas outside. Their umbrella was apparently broken, so I sat roasting in the sun. At least I got to work on my tan, though it did make it a bit rough to enjoy the hot tea. The green tea cake was amazing though and I loved that they have a traditional iron pot which they put on a heater next to your table to keep the water for your tea boiling for when you re-steep your bag. The service left a bit to be desired initially, but once my waitress became aware of my presence, she was great! I really enjoyed the presentation of the teas with flavor notes on each one so you can decide tableside. The grounds are definitely worth exploring a bit between the gift shop and the tea house as there are wonderful sculptures throughout!

A nice Tea Estate with a very nice retail shop selling different blends of organic tea. There is a restaurant that serves their Signature High Tea with an assortment of tidbits. They also serve fish, lamb, beef and pasta. Well worth a visit when passing through.

High tea per person. Was so good.

I went to Zealong back in 2018 with my mother and it was amazing then. Recently went back this year with my grandmother, mother and great aunt for a high tea lunch. Was even better then before. The food was amazing, I always love the wide selection of teas they offer (Lady Gatsby is my favourite ) and the service was impeccable. One girl called Erin gave us such an amazing service that it's definitely a memory I won't forget.

Tea-licous is how I rate this Gordonton Road estate. I recently visited here for my second time. It's New Zealand's first and only tea plantation, Zealong. Zealong produces three varieties of oolong, a green and black tea all of which you must try. We went along to Zealong from Auckland on a hot sunny day, this estate is $20mil and for acres all you can see is green camellia sinesis bushes. Zealong use traditional hand-picking methods and achieve residue-free crops. Its good their neighbours are organic and so therefore nothing bad gets blown in the wind onto their bushes. As part of the tour I was one of 2 guinea pigs to get to partake in the tea ceremony with our guide. The teas were lovely and inspired me to drink more tea without milk. The high tea my friend rated as the best she has ever had and I have to agree. I loved the Thai style offerings on the bottom layer of the tier. Even better than what I had there last time and that was lovely. I highly recommend you take your parents or grandparents here for lunch. Coffee lovers there is no coffee on order. However you can enjoy an alcoholic beverage in the garden which we also did afterwards. The service is friendly and tentative and although the waiter said we could'nt have a wine at 10mins to closing the Manager said we could - that's easy money not lost right?!

We really enjoyed the food; I was surprised the restaurant was not busier on a Sunday afternoon. Food: We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered -Five Spice Roasted Pork Bao, Honey BBQ Chicken Bao, Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Chicken and Mango Salad Service: The employees were friendly but not very attentive. Although the restaurant was not very busy, they did not check on us at all and never refilled the water glasses. Ambiance: Casual, bright space.

We had plans to walk up the whole main ave to check the town out on our first night, but Bamboo looked so much fun that we stopped immediately. Service was super friendly. We had a great server named Maria who chatted with us and gave us tips on the town. She also gave more service than were used to receiving in New Zealand, checking to see if we liked our food after we ordered and making sure we were good. The food was mostly a hit too. We loved the Korean fried chicken wings, and both Bao that we tried. The Bao is only served by the each, but each one is HUGE. Not like the typical small Bao we're used to getting in orders of 3 small sandwiches. The only miss was the Detox Turmeric Soup. The noodles and dumplings were good, but the broth had no flavor. It definitely was missing salt, and some kind of fat. I added a bunch of hot sauce and soy sauce to mine to make it a little more flavorful. Fortunately, everything else was so yummy that I would easily come back and try something else! We saw so many other delicious plates go out and wanted to try everything. The cocktail and wine list was good too. This is a great, hip place that would be perfect for a get together at night with your best mates, cocktails, and bites.

My wife had actually done a pickup order, and even with the vagaries of food lasting the travelling time, she couldn't speak highly enough of the drunken fish. Lots of parking. Welcoming. Distinctive decor. Prompt and unintrusive service, providing useful answers to our questions. We ordered a range of dishes and not a bad pick amongst them. Not cheap but worth it. It's all great but, weirdly perhaps, my bite of the night was the 'KFC' buns. That certainly put the fusion into Asian fusion. Highly recommended. We'll be back.

Of course it has to establish a good footing in the restaurant scene in this area. Give it time . Anyway, about our experience. We're not usually into the Asian Fusion cuisine, but then fusion dining overall we seldom if ever venture to. Part reason is the cost is high and i dislike eating a meal where the food only takes up half the plate. Makes me feel a bit like i am not getting my moneys worth. But in saying that the food was delicious! Our order consisted of the Market fish of the day yellow curry  (the fish being monkfish) with rotti , scallop salad & crispy eggplant washed down with a Brothers brewery lager. The order came out pretty quickly too. And like i said disregarding the portion size etc it was very delicious!. Top marks to the chef. About the service , it was top notch too from entry to exit. Faultless. Of note too is the decor, i really like the paintings on the walls and ceiling and the atmosphere within too. So overall i would recommend as long as you are willing to pay a few extra dollars and despite my tendency and reasons not to eat fusion cuisine i think it does definitely deserve 5 stars.

Parking is pretty good that part of Parnell and so once we walked all the way into the depths of the building on the ground floor all was well. We were seated quickly, and had our waitress come with water and to answer any additional questions promptly. She recommended a number of sharing plates, which was fine by us as we thought that would probably be a good way to go anyway. We started off with some of the lotus chips which were awesome. We then received a selection of dishes including lamb short ribs, crispy pork ribs (a winner), supposedly very spicy bang bang chicken in lettuce cups (it wasn't that spicy but had a bit of kick and was delicious too), Crispy squid tentacles were also a popular choice. The kung pao soft shell crab was tasty but a bit small serving wise, and the dumplings all tasty too. The pork belly was average, nothing wrong with it but not a standout. My wife especially liked the slow cooked beef shin. Service was excellent, food was tasty and interesting, restaurant a little dimly lit but very cool nevertheless (perhaps better for dates than family dining but I'm being picky here). My only quibble is value, it's not bad value for money but it wasn't great value either. If it were slightly cheaper I wouldn't hesitate to score it 5/5. However, that is not a deterrent to me wanting to try the restaurant again, as the Rest of the package was all of a very high standard. We will be back for sure.
