We came here for a ride the day after my birthday. The staff members were incredibly friendly and kind to us, and they were very understanding that we were both beginners as horse riding. For beginners, a staff member will walk alongside the riders so if anything goes wrong, they can calm the horse down or stop them if needed. Our guide was so sweet and talked to us about the local wildlife. They also let us go over to the barns to see the new baby! His name is Orion and he shares my birthday! read more

This place is simply amazing. I've had this on my bucket list for many years that I always wanted to ride a Clydesdale horse. I see the Budweiser commercials with the Clydesdales and it's been my dream to ride one. I had a wonderful experience the two times that I went there. The first time I was late for my ride and the girl took me out just her and I which was nice because I got to do a lot of things that I probably would not have done, if I was in a group. The second time I went was a Saint Patrick's Day Theme. I took my friend there with her daughter and we took the Hayride which was fun although I'd rather ride. We also did the scavenger hunt with the horseshoes that were painted green. That was so much fun. You must go and you must experience this wonderful place with THE GENTLE GIANTS. My niece & I did the horse riding experience for her 16th birthday yesterday and it was everything we could have wanted and more! The horses were absolutely beautiful and truly gentle giants! Our guide, Kelsea, was amazing and answered all the questions about horses I could think of along the ride. We were even able to feed the horses carrots that we brought (with permission) after the ride. We also got to see all the other horses after our ride was over. Wish we had saved some carrots for the rest of them! Wonderful experience and would highly recommend. Also beautiful scenery along the way! read more

Willow Grove is fantastic for trail rides and anything equine related. However, the staff's knowledge and excitement make every time we go there a wonderful experience. It has now also become a family tradition to attend their Christmas with the Clydesdales event, which is, in a word, excellent. Clydesdale rides for adults and kids, wagon rides, a beautiful property to explore with a great event space, a riverside bonfire, cocoa, and Santa. It is worth far more than the entrance fee and the folks running it are so damned welcoming and in the spirit! The horses are obviously well loved as are the pooches that love a pet too! I was looking at their website since 2009 and finally made it down after I retired my Belgian Draft for the first of many riding adventures. I'm crazy about this wonderful barn, staff, owners, horses, critters, river, etc.. Truly a delightful experience for the equine enthusiast. Nicely sized arena with fine footing made riding here a HOWL! I travel from Long Island every two months for lessons with Morghan and a romp on the trails. My friend and I decided last minute to call and make a reservation for a ride here. Morgan called my friend back right away and said we could come at noon. From the minute arrived we felt welcomed and taken care of. The horses are gorgeous and so much fun to ride. Anna was our guide and she was so nice and didn't rush through anything. We had a beautiful hour long trail ride. When we returned to the barn she took us and showed us the other horses there. We will definitely go back for another ride! read more

Nestled in the middle of Long Valley, NJ amongst the other horse, corn & landscaping farms is Willow Grove. The only place I know where you can ride a BIG horse - Clydesdales. It's easy to miss. I've ridden MTB on the Columbia trail for a while and never saw it till this year. I thought a trail ride for the family on Clydesdales would be cool so I called. It could have been the standard teenager taking us out and not interacting but we were pleasantly surprised. 1. These are Clydesdales - BIG, gentle, even tempered and easy going 2. Heidi is very personable and made us feel welcome. 3. We got a tour and were allowed to feed the 2 babies. It's not cheap so if your price shopping don't bother. However, I doubt you'll find a Clydesdale ride anywhere else. read more

Booked this trip via NYC travel outfitter Discover Outdoors (who are also great btw) and went on a trail ride and wagon ride at these stables and it was such a lovely and relaxing experience. The weather was absolutely perfect for riding and the people who worked there were incredibly friendly. The stables are a family-owned business and you can tell their Clydes are clearly well-loved and cared for. Scenery of the rides were lush, green, and gorgeous. My horse was a mare named Mia and she was a doll and also a clever little miss :) Microbrewery and alpaca/sheep farm down the road for homemade beer and cheese! read more

Who doesn't want to ride a Clydesdale! Took my daughter Liv for her 21st birthday - I have not been on a horse in 30+ years and I am a big lady so I was nervous. These big guys are the St Bernard of the horse world! I rode Bronson a beautiful speckled boy who was very responsive to my commands and we were lucky to have personable Taylor (and her mom) as our guide on a public trail. What a lovely day - she made us feel super comfortable and safe - the trail is flat and the ride relaxing. Win, the farm owner, took us on an impromptu tour afterwards to meet and interact with all the other horses and give us the background of Clydesdales in the US. Great family run Clydesdale trail rides! Drove out from Long Island- about a two hour drive- and well worth it! Family owns about 30 beautiful, well taken care of Clydesdale! We called ahead to take the hour long trail ride- and horses were almost all set up when we got there! Had a quick tour to meet the other horses and then went on our hour long trail ride on Colombia rail trail. Amazing, gentile horses in a beautiful scenic area. Would def recommend to anyone! I've ridden horses before but my boyfriend had not and it was a great experience for both of us! Family (staff) was all so friendly and you can tell they take great care of the horses by how friendly and affectionate the horses are! A must-do for everyone!!! Less than an hour from New York, an hour and half from Nassau County Long Island and worth the trip. Family run business and whether you would like to take lessons or just go for a trail ride, you're sure to have a great time. They also have driving lessons, something you seldom see in most riding academies. A special "cool" factor is the family raises and breeds their own Clydesdales. Wonderful experience! We did the 1 hour trail ride with the Clydesdales and it was awesome! The instructors were patient and fun. The horses were great. I rode Sunny and he did most of the work. Afterwards, we got a little tour of the farm. Everyone at the farm was very friendly and the animals were welcoming. Both my husband and I were beginners (no previous experience) and we would both recommend this to anyone. read more

I can't say enough great things about this place. I called to make reservations and Wynn was extremely nice and accommodating. The day of the trail ride we were stuck in traffic, I called them and told them we would be arriving about 10 mins late for our trail ride and his daughter Megan was extremely nice and said no problem you can leave with the next group. Once we arrived Megan and everyone there made us feel like we've known them for years. They were extremely easy going and laid back and let us look around the farm. The trail ride itself was scenic, and the horses were beautiful. I should mention that before we went out on the trail we were all able to get on our horse and practice basic commands which was great for first time riders and allowed us to get comfortable on the horse. Overall I highly recommend this place for new as well as experienced riders, I'm looking forward to going back. read more
