Joe was super personable and professional. Payment was easy and via online which was great reserved our spots and we didn't have to worry about bringing money with us. Joe made us all comfortable and suited us with horses to fit our experience. And at the end took the time to take our pictures to email to myself. Just overall great experience!! After several other places left a bad taste in my mouth it was refreshing to see someone who loves what he does and made it his goal to keep us safe and having fun!

The first…read morething I noticed about all the other horses in the barns was how fit and happy they all appeared and how clean the barns are kept. Clearly, Liz and Mike and their staff truly care about the horses. To me, that's a sign of true horsemanship. The farm is beautiful with many large turnout pastures, 2 barns for horses in training, an indoor arena, large outdoor arena and a grass grand prix field. There is a separate rehab barn with it's own turn out pastures and a water treadmill is located in that barn. The water treadmill treatments offered at High Brass give a distinct advantage not found at many other training facilities. It teaches horses to track up straight and as the horse walks on the treadmill, the water resistance builds muscle tone and lung capacity while keeping the horse buoyant. Horses in training are kept in top condition, and horses needing rehab stay in condition without enduring unnecessary stress to the tendons, ligaments and joint capsules. My young jumper mare was very green when she arrived to High Brass Farm and in need of conditioning, flat work and training in finding her stride to the fences. A year later, she is fit and winning on the show circuit. My gelding arrived during a layoff period due to a previous injury months prior. Liz, Mike and their staff dedicated their time and patience to bring him back sound and back to work. I am thrilled to have found High Brass Farm. I am happy; my horses are happy. I recommend High Brass Farm to anyone who is looking for top level hunter/jumper training; a low key clientele and/or rehab for their horse(s). Mike and Liz Merbler are honest and truly care about you and your horse(s).

Instead of multiple opportunities to ride and learn, the program felt like an overpriced babysitting service. I met met so many amazing new people and love going to the barn. I recently started leasing a gorgeous horse named Fred who I have learned so much from. Sara matched me up perfectly with the best boy. Even though I have only been riding for a short time, Sara's training and love has allowed me to win champion at my first two shows - WEC Ohio and my first ever show. All of the horses are taken care of so well and couldn't be healthier. I love the DHF family so much!!

Be sure to come and be honest about your riding/experience level of comfort and whether you want a guide or are comfortable riding without one as we did. Also please rsvp your time and details ahead of time. There is some mud and plenty of trees to explore. The farm has a small creek and a maze of trails to ride. Keep in mind long pants and sleeves are best as sometimes dependent on season the plant grow can include sticker brush and be very thorny. Also, check for ticks and wear propellant and or sunscreen to be very comfortable. They offer boarding, leasing, and lessons as well as summer camps.

Apparently it was really 2 hours to allow for them to get the horses out of the barn/ whatnot and get the riders situated, so it was a good deal. There were kids helping us onto our horses, but it's not certain they did a good job. My saddle rotated and I slipped off my horse while another person's (and mine) stirrups were not high enough - even after we had informed them that we were beginners. The trail itself is simple, good sized in the woods with long straight paths where more of the advanced riders could cantor or trot. We were lucky that I had friends who knew what they were doing and we had a great time regardless. Still, safety precautions should have been excercised better.

The second time I went was a Saint Patrick's Day Theme. I took my friend there with her daughter and we took the Hayride which was fun although I'd rather ride. Haycock Riding Stables is not professional or clean. They need more barn help, but no one will…read morework to restore the place back to a healthy environment for pennies an hour ( worked here 1 full day for less then a total of $10.00). Pulled my back out due to the deep wet stalls and paid over $100. In doctors bills. A lot of their horses are in standing stalls with soaked 12" deep packed wet sawdust on wet rubber mats with no fly spray or baking soda. I saw a broken leg and hove issues on the poor horses and the older lady who I think is the owner hitting the horses. The sawdust and floor mats were heavily soaked. Sawdust and hay were previously added ( dumped on top of old ) without cleaning or drying out the stall. Rubber mats are ruined and worthless. Stalls were a foot deep in a wet mess. I hope the owner either sells or puts out more money to hire proper care because no animal deserves to live in those conditions. @lastchancerance @humainesociety or any other animal rights organization, somebody please help these horses escape from this place.
