Very local to me and handy if I have some friends around and they'd like to go out for a drink. Unfortunately this place has fallen into disuse as it has not moved with the times. The entertainment (mostly solo artists supplied by an agency) caters for the 60+ age group and is only on a Saturday night. The rest of the week, apart from a few people in to use the snooker tables, the place is empty and the main hall, that has a great stage, is locked.
There is so much scope here to cater for a younger crowd (and I'm in my mid fifties!), with bands and other forms of entertainment and on other nights of the week. I'm sure it could also be hired out for functions and meetings, but I don't see any of that happening there. It's such a shame! read more
