My kids enjoy the skate park and playgrounds. The trials are well kept. Lock your car and keep items out of view. This park is known for vagrants and we did see one person approach our car and try the doors. They scurried away quickly when they noticed we saw them. This could be because we have out of state plates but locals say this park is known for crime.

But really, this was such a great experience, especially for someone new to the area and to yoga. It was a little intimidating at first being around so many people who are good at it! Pineapple Studios, Jess, was an amazing instructor who made it feel so welcoming and comfortable. Whenever we moved into new poses or held poses, she never made it feel like you had to if you weren't capable. Always providing other options and reminding us to breathe in and take on the experience and calmness of the night. ARRIVE Hotel is gorgeous. I want to stay there even though I only live 10 minutes away. It looks like a gorgeous space, it was awesome doing yoga in the courtyard. It seems like such a lax place to hang out and spend time vacationing. The snacks and refreshments from Adapt Bar & Kitchen we so tasty! The ginger drinks and THOSE BROWNIES. Wow, I could have eaten 100 of those, good thing I didn't. All of their items were so unique and tasty, I eventually went to visit the shop to get a smoothie I was so in love. I had the margharita and we got a construction zone pizza. It's the build your own, with red onion and mushrooms and red sauce. Everything was really good. Food here is always consistent and tasty. It's all good, though, because we didn't want to ride them anyway! The rides just added a nice festive touch to the atmosphere. We mostly visited the Boardwalk for one thing: Britt's Donuts, which is a Carolina Beach staple. (And which I go into more detail about in my review for Britt's, so go read that, if you want.) When we visited, the shops were just opening (some wouldn't open for a couple of hours), and there was a nice, lazy feeling to the boardwalk. We grabbed a cup of coffee and hot chocolate at Crush and Grind, and walked around with our hot bag of donuts while looking at the murals all around the boardwalk. We parked across the street from Crush and Grind, at a dirt lot that requires you to pay to park. I imagine that parking becomes hard to find when it's busy, but we had the parking lot to ourselves when we visited.

Our group of friends ordered our entire meal at once and had just received our appetizers when a staff member abruptly came to our table and, in a very rude and confrontational manner, told us to "be quiet" because we were being too loud. We understand that restaurants have to maintain a comfortable atmosphere for all guests, and if our volume had become an issue, a polite and discreet request would have been completely appropriate. Instead, we felt embarrassed and scolded. The interaction left us so uncomfortable that one member of our party immediately asked for the check and told them we would be leaving before our entrées were even served. Rather than apologizing, showing any empathy, or attempting to salvage the situation, the staff simply brought the bill, set it on the table, and walked away. What was most disappointing wasn't being asked to lower our voices--it was how we were treated afterward. Hospitality is about making guests feel welcome, even when an awkward situation arises. There was no apology, no acknowledgment that the interaction could have been handled better, and no effort whatsoever to make things right. Given the restaurant's reputation, we expected exceptional food paired with exceptional hospitality. Sadly, while we may never know how the main course would have been, the service ensured we won't be returning.

The selection of beers was amazing; being a fan of Darth Vader and the dark side, I discovered a Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout that was heavenly; I tried a few others (light and dark), but always came back to this beauty. They have a real nice selection of wines as well in the vault (place was once a bank) and the food was great. Really nice pretzels (reminiscent of some I had in Germany at a beer garden many years ago) with delicious cheese dip. Salsa (not as spicy as I normally like, but quite good) and different kinds of flat bread. All yummy, all which made me thirsty so I had to get more beer (why I used Lyft to get there and get home). After meeting Dani and grabbing a mimosa, I was greeted by the owner who asked if I wanted a blow out. Having rolled out of bed it was a no-brainer. She gave me a great shampoo and blowdry and styled my hair to the point where it felt light and with a natural wave. It was beautiful! I wanted to go out instead of to the soccer fields. We met with the owner of Missio, who provided the products for the event while sipping tea from Tama. The tea was amazing as usual and the women from Missio were so passionate about their products and their efforts to fight human trafficking. I really enjoyed talking with them. As we were leaving, Dani gave us a goodie bag full of pampering items. I will definitely go back to Golden Salon and loved this event.

The pastries were flaky, as they should be and just decadent. Some of the products Golden Salon and Dry Bar Staff uses are from MISSIO, a hair product company that exists to inspire and empower a movement of people in the fight against human trafficking, as described on their website. MISSIO representatives were present at the event and were very friendly. Calan from Golden Salon and Dry Bar washed and blow-dried my hair, using MISSIO shampoo and conditioner. After blow-drying my hair, she used MISSIO coconut cleansing powder dry shampoo and MISSIO texture paste. All of the products had a pleasant light scent. Calan was very friendly and did a nice job with my hair. This place would be great for anyone looking to pamper themselves. I would definitely like to come back to this place to try a haircut!
