It would be a crime to visit the new Starbucks across the street when this delightful coffee shop is right here. They offer fantastic selection of espresso based drinks, made fresh to order. They also offer selection of frozen coffee and non coffee drinks including smoothies. Prices are much better than Starbucks to boot! You can't ignore the chocolates when visiting. Mmmm MOCHA - My mocha was very chocolate forward and tasty. It was like drinking a hot chocolate with coffee added in! They come in super large 24oz servings which is what I put down. FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE - my daughter enjoyed this immensely. She also ordered a 24oz cup and she said it really filled her up. She didn't need lunch. SUSTAINABLE - impressed to see they offer compostable straws and cups. SMALL SHOP - they sell a few items, including coffee beans you can brew at home. read more

We needed a coffee stop for a shot of caffeine while traveling and stumbled on Winans- a far better alternative to the Starbucks across the street. While there, I learned that Winans is locally owned. They have a great selection of candies and chocolates to go with your coffee, and provide compostable straws for iced drinks. They also have a really sweet collection of recycled paper greeting cards available for sale. A great find! read more

Winans offers a variety of quality chocolates, candy, nuts & coffee. You can have a seat and enjoy your coffee and/or yummy treats or you can take them away. Either way, you will be pleased. They have an online catalog as well. In addition, if you are in the area you can pick out your own selection and have them ship if you like. These are quality items and therefore the prices are slightly elevated. But you do get what you pay for. In addition, they have a rewards program for coffee. The staff is ok at this location. On my first visit to the store I got the impression the two young ladies didn't want to be bothered with me and my mother. And there was only one other customer in the store. That made me feel a little uncomfortable. But when I went back a few days later to inquire about the shipping of an item and purchase more things the staff on duty was much friendlier. I love buckeyes! Although they are fairly easy to make, I prefer for someone else to do it. So, when in town I always stop in to purchase some at one of the locations and/or have some shipped. I really love the dark chocolate mint meltaways too...simply divine! No matter what your pleasure is, I am sure you will find something you will like. The company was established in the early 1900's and still in business with its 4th generation of family ownership. They must love what they do! Amazing little place. It's a bit off the main path but so worth the extra turn. The staff was incredibly friendly. And in a genuine way not a fake way. The chocolate was fabulous. We tried many different kinds and even got caramel a Apple to go. My husband got regular coffee, and he said it's a man's coffee...Grrrrr! Lol My daughter got the pumpkin pie ice latte. She said it was okay, but she probably would not get that kind again. My son got a caramel iced latte. He said it was good. I got a vanilla steamer with soy milk. But I forgot to ask for extra flavoring so I don't really care for it. Good thing I also got a peach smoothie after trying my younger kids peach smoothie. I've only liked one other peach smoothie and that was at Ridgecrest in North Carolina. This is absolutely delicious. The bathrooms were immaculate!! You may just want to stop so you can use those!! Great coffee and service/staff but as we all know masks are required to enter any public building now. I saw at least three people with their mask pulled all the way down. I know they are uncomfortable, they really suck but if this is as bad as they say it is we all just need to wear it and help take care of the others around us too. Whats the point of even having your mask if you just pull it all the way down for no reason at all..? People that can't just follow the simple rule just don't even need to be allowed in the building if they are putting the staff or other customers at risk. It's wrong..in my opinion this needs to be watched better and if you can't keep the mask on don't even bother coming in the building if you don't even care about the staff and customers being at risk because of your stupidity. read more

I have not had any coffees or teas there, so I cannot comment on those. Their chocolates are so good, however it is a little pricey. I usually go to the store connected to the bookstore in Troy. I wish they have more space for the customers to enjoy their coffee, tea or/and their famous candies. read more

Winans. Just the name brings back memories of warmth and goodness. Coffee aroma wafts into your nose like a reunion with a friend. Brightly lit so you don't have to squint to read the labels. Lines move quickly and the staff has the 'sense of urgency' so you do not have to wait for other customers try to 'strengthen the relationship' while the line increases out the door. read more

The Winans on Looney Rd is great! (All locations are great, but this is the one I pass on my way to work) I really love the drive thru. The staff is ALWAYS friendly. I love the rewards program they have and it's so easy to use. Also, it's fantastic that I can get a 24 ounce coffee in the morning. Most places stop at 16 or 20. Definitely get the Big Joe if you stop there. read more

I'm here at least 4 times a week to get the best coffee in town and around! I have tried most of everything on their menu and made some things up myself. Nothing better than setting up homework in the local coffee shop with a Triple Hazelnut Harvest and some sea salt caramels.... or any of the other chocolate. Yum!! read more

LOVE this Winan's! The coffees (and other drinks) are amazing, and the baristas are so friendly. Always a great time coming to this Winan's, and it is a favorite meeting place for my friends, family, and I. The cafe au lait with cinnamon coffee or blueberry coffee is fantastic. If you're looking for a non-coffee based drink - try the chaider, you won't regret it!
