I brought my car in because it had a vibration whenever it was idling at red lights. I suspected the engine mounts were the issue. I was referred to this shop and told they were reliable and did great work. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite. They offered a free diagnostic, which initially seemed like a good sign. The owner, Malik, told me he was busy but would make time for my car. I live in Scarborough and commute to school in Hamilton, so having a reliable vehicle is essential. I dropped my car off on Friday at 2:00 p.m. and was told it would be ready Saturday. On Saturday afternoon (I have screenshots), Malik told me that not all of the engine mounts needed replacing because the others were still in good condition. I actually appreciated what sounded like an honest assessment. He also recommended new rotors and brakes, which I agreed to. I told him to complete the work as soon as possible because I had already missed work in Hamilton and was falling behind in my accelerated program. Monday came, and I was told it would be better if I picked it up Tuesday instead. At that point, I had already been without my car for three days. I explained that I couldn't afford to wait any longer, and Malik assured me it would be ready around 7:30-8:00 p.m. on Monday. I arrived at 7:42 p.m. and immediately noticed my car was still sitting at the very back of the lot. When I asked what had been completed after having my car since Friday, the mechanic told me they had only replaced the top engine mount. My car had been sitting there for days, and literally nothing had been done. When I finally drove it, the vibration was significantly worse than before. It was shaking more than it ever had in all the years I've owned it, it was so incredibly loud I knew something was wrong. I immediately turned around and brought it back. I called Malik and asked him to come to the shop. His response was that he wasn't feeling well and that his main technician wasn't there so they were short handed. While I understand people get sick, he chose to accept my vehicle knowing he was busy and unable to complete the work on time. Meanwhile, I had already sacrificed work, school, and several days without transportation because of his promises.
He eventually arrived around 9:00 p.m., and Kapil and another technician started working on the car. Initially, they told me they would remove the new engine mount and reinstall the original one. Then, without discussing it with me, they completely changed their approach and started trying different fixes. I was at the shop for nearly five hours, finally getting home around 11:45 p.m. at this point, they still couldn't fix the problem and I demanded they take my car off the hoist and let me leave. To make matters worse, Malik took my car on a test drive without even asking if my brother or I wanted to come along. He only offered after returning. Then he asked me to "give him another chance" to fix it. At that point, I had already given them more than enough time. They had my car for over two full days, yet they spent over 30 minutes struggling to remove a single bolt. I eventually told them to stop working on my car because I had completely lost confidence in their ability. Mind you, he had to audacity to tell me to give him another chance and not worry about the payment... like brother you have a lot of nerve thinking your going to get any money from me especially when I asked him twice to give me a quote and he didn't. He even took my old engine mount and said quote "I need something to return"... even after I had stressed and was promised by Kapil that my engine mount would be replaced with the original broken mount I brought in with me to the shop.
The lack of attention to detail was alarming. They forgot to reinstall clips underneath the vehicle and only corrected it after my brother pointed it out. One of the mechanics was putting excessive weight on my driver's door and quite literally was swinging off it trying to hope onto the hoist into the car... and my uncle ended up helping under the hood without any protective equipment because the staff seemed completely overwhelmed. Malik also claimed that I hadn't originally come in for a diagnostic, which is absolute bullshit. I had an appointment booked for Friday at 12:30 p.m., but he didn't even show up because, according to him, he forgot due to his appointment... Overall, this was one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had with an auto repair shop. They repeatedly missed deadlines, made promises they couldn't keep, caused my vehicle to perform worse than when I brought it in, and demonstrated a concerning lack of professionalism and workmanship. I cannot recommend this shop based on my experience.
