I ordered a Last Word cocktail, which is a classic cocktail with a well-established recipe. It should have a bright green color from the combination of green Chartreuse, maraschino liqueur, gin, and fresh lime juice. Instead, what I was served was bright red. A Last Word is not supposed to be red. Even a quick search online will show that virtually every properly made Last Word is green because of the green Chartreuse. A red drink tells me the recipe was significantly altered or the wrong ingredients were used. If you're going to serve a classic cocktail, it should at least resemble the actual drink. The poor service combined with the incorrectly made cocktail made for a very disappointing experience. There are plenty of restaurants and bars that take pride in their hospitality and their bartending. Unfortunately, this wasn't one of them. I won't be returning, and I can't recommend it to anyone looking for good service or well-made cocktails.

The venue itself is beautiful, the food was excellent, and the event staff were friendly and attentive. We had an amazing time celebrating with our family and friends. Unfortunately, the planning process and overall experience leading up to the wedding were far more stressful than they should have been. The biggest issue was communication. Our coordinator was always pleasant, but communication was extremely disorganized. It often took multiple calls and emails to receive a response, and we were repeatedly asked for information that had already been provided, including menu selections and other event details. There were also several important details that were either poorly communicated or not included in the contract, creating unnecessary confusion throughout the planning process. Future couples should be aware that the venue provides very little beyond basic tables and chairs. We were responsible for supplying many items ourselves, including linens and napkins. We also encountered confusion regarding what was included in our package, such as dinnerware and linens, which resulted in last-minute scrambling and additional expenses. One of our biggest frustrations involved the bar service. We were required to pay a mandatory 22% gratuity for the bartenders, totaling approximately $1,000. Because of this, we specifically requested that no tip jars be displayed during the reception. Despite this request, tip jars were placed at the bar and remained visible throughout the evening even after someone from our party asked that they be removed. We felt our wishes were disregarded despite following the venue's gratuity policy. We also experienced miscommunication regarding cleanup. My mother, grandmother, and I all understood that our décor would be boxed up at the end of the night. Instead, we were left to handle it ourselves after many of the people who would have helped had already left. Another disappointing issue involved our wedding cake. We had three full sheet cakes in addition to our wedding cake, yet after the reception we discovered that an entire tier of our wedding cake was gone. We were never consulted about how leftover cake should be handled or what should be saved. When we raised our concerns, we were told the cake had been cut and plated "as a favor" and that no specific instructions had been provided. While we appreciate the intention, we were disappointed that such a significant decision was made without our input. The response we received felt dismissive and did not adequately address our concerns. Couples should also be aware of additional fees and restrictions. Outside food vendors are not permitted except for desserts, serving the bridal table costs extra, receptions are limited to four hours, and extending the reception costs $500 per hour, with additional charges for extended bar service. The Stonehouse was beautiful, and when an issue arose with golf tee times that had been booked over a year in advance, the owner did work to resolve it, which we appreciated. Overall, while the venue is beautiful and the food and event staff were wonderful, the poor communication, repeated miscommunications, unexpected costs, and failure to honor certain requests made for a disappointing experience. For the price of a country club wedding venue, we expected a much smoother planning process and greater attention to detail. Future couples should make sure every detail is clearly documented and fully understand what is and is not included before signing a contract.

Dan Jenkins wrote about it being the toughest hole in the Western Hemisphere in 1990; that statement still holds up. The next is a long par 3 over water (pro tip: the drop area is on the other side of the green, but missing right is your first option). Clubhouse seemed nice, but the pro-shop was small. The practice area was just okay regarding some other country clubs in the area. Longer shots aren't measurable off the driving range. Big putting green which was nice. When we first met with them, we were promised fair pricing, excellent service, an open bar, food, and exclusive use of the venue as part of our package. We paid our deposit feeling excited and confident. Unfortunately, things changed after we signed the contract. As soon as I started asking questions because I was doing my own décor, the communication became short, impatient, and often didn't answer my questions. Instead of feeling supported, I felt like I was becoming an inconvenience. One of the biggest reasons we booked this venue was because we were told their chef "could do anything." We explained from the beginning that our families are not American and that we wanted Chinese and Israeli cuisine. We were assured this would not be a problem. Later, when we finally saw the menu, we discovered there were very limited options and nothing close to what we had discussed. We were then left feeling like we either had to accept food we didn't want or risk losing our non-refundable deposit. After tasting the food, we knew it wasn't what we wanted for our wedding. Thankfully, with the help of our wedding planner and my husband, we were eventually able to negotiate removing the food from our package and hiring an outside caterer. That process was far more stressful than it should have been. Our original package was around $11,000 and included the venue, open bar, food, and service. After removing the food, we expected the pricing to reflect what had been discussed. Instead, the pricing changed again, and we were asked to pay thousands more than we had understood we would owe. It felt like the agreement kept changing. To make matters even harder, my family was traveling from Israel. Because of the war, we had to postpone our wedding. Rather than showing compassion during an incredibly difficult situation, we were charged additional fees to reschedule. That was one of the most disappointing parts of the entire experience. Planning a wedding is already stressful. Your venue should make the process easier, not harder. Unfortunately, our experience was filled with poor communication, changing expectations, and constant stress.
