However, we do have some concerns that make our visits a bit challenging. Parking is consistently a hassle, and we've noticed an increasing presence of homeless individuals both around and directly in front of the library, which can be uncomfortable. This became particularly troubling recently when a homeless individual on a bike nearly hit my 6-year-old daughter and then attempted to kick her. While we understand the library can't control what happens outside its doors, and we often see security personnel, it's disheartening that these issues persist. My children have even started referring to it as 'the homeless library,' which is sad given how much we value what it offers. We genuinely hope to see some improvements in the future, as we truly enjoy coming here.

The library is quite large with a wide selection materials and several different study areas. The main drawbacks were the parking and overall cleanliness. There is no dedicated parking lot so most people will need to find paid street parking or use a paid parking garage. I also noticed that some areas felt unclean, with strong odors in certain parts of the library and an unkept bathroom. There were also many homeless individuals sheltering inside or gathered outside, which may make some visitors uncomfortable.

The kids play with toys very loudly never being told to not play so loudly. The mens restroom is sometimes used as an illegal drug recreation area. Eating is allowed because nobody tells people to stop eating their food. And it seems like occasionally drug users stop in to charge their five or more devices or just to fondle themselves on the ground. But the atmosphere is nice because they have an air filter machine. There's always something you could do better. This place good. Help me study with no school. And thieves.

The library had put together packets with all the materials needed for a successful project, and set them next to full-size sewing machines. There were experienced seamstresses and quilters available to lead us through each step, and we both left with beautiful tote bags, complete with quilted exterior pocket. I look forward to growing my sewing skill set, and plan on attending another workshop.

There were at least 5 other stations available. The staff ended my session abruptly so I lost all my reports that I saved. I asked why they did this. The staff had a blank stare acting like it wasn't intentional. The lady at my station wanted to fight me. The manager (Stuart) was escalating the situation by yelling loud disrupting the entire library. Screaming 'Get Out' about 10 Times as I was picking my paperwork off the floor. This was the most barbaric treatment intentionally created to inflict disruption and punish me for taking a phone call. This was such a pathetic display of desperate staff who were just looking to cause a problem. Horrible! We pay their salaries and this is what they do. Miserable mean people suck.

Another member whom I'd never met before, confronted me aggressively in the locker room--loud, intimidating, invasive, and completely unprovoked. But the real shock was the YMCA's response: almost nothing. Weeks passed before any meaningful action was taken, and even then it was a token gesture, not a solution. What makes this worse is learning that the same member targeted another Asian-American woman only weeks before me. Still, the YMCA brushed everything aside as if it wasn't serious. This is not about drama. It's about the YMCA failing to protect women in their facility. The lack of accountability and the dismissive attitude from leadership were honestly far more traumatizing than the incident itself. If you're considering joining--especially if you're a woman or a person of color--please read this as a warning.

The slogon for this town is "the friendly city" this city is by far more rude and the people are more on edge than in Santa Rosa or any nearby cities. This city is not friendly and people are selfish, I just got honked at cuz I rightfully stopped for a cop with his emergency lights on, then got cut off. When I confronted the person they called me slurs and spit on me. This is one of many rude instances that ive encounterd in this city. Do not live here, do not come here. People in oakland are more friendly then here I would give this town a 0.3 stars out of 5 if I could. I hate this town with a burning passion and I have no money to move out, I'm stuck paying rent here
