I've taken two classes here: Christmas ornaments and stained glass. The owner is extremely passionate about the art- consistently developing additional designs and options. For the ornament class, we watched a safety video, watched the instructor demo, including tips on what to do and not to do, picked out our color choices, and went person by person blowing our three ornaments- it was a little tricky, but that's the fun in learning something new. The cooling process takes ~2 hours, so you'll want to find something to do during that time- downtown Culpepper is really cute though. For the stained glass class, each person got their own station with all supplies set up for them. Based on experience level, the instructor gave personalized instructions on what to do next which allowed folks to finish on their own time without feeling rushed or slowed down. There were 3 tables with 4 people each during the class I took. The instructor will help you as much or as little with the actual development (some people wanted help soldering the hooks on). I would definitely take classes again as it's clear that this business is a labor of love for the owner who showed us some additional designs she's working on. The other classmates were super welcoming and cheered on everyones's progress in both classes. I just had my LAST class at wine, & design. I've been booking for over a year, spent over $500. If you're doing a stained glass, highly recommend. They don't want to be liable for a burn or worse, so it'll actually be instructor led. Anything else, save your self the trouble. Go to Michael's, get the supplies, check out you tube. I've booked more classes than I can count, if you're unlucky enough to have a small booking (2 people) and not a large class, despite what the description says (DIY, instructor led) you'll be on your own. I think I would have given them a better review if they were better at there customer service skills. They canceled a class due to no one else signing up. Told us to look for a different class and they would give us credit for that class. Well we are pretty busy and we're not able to find anything. We requested a refund. No response. Lost our money. My mom and I painted with Farren tonight. Neither one of us had ever painted before in our lives. However, Farren guided us every step of the way, showing us how to mix colors, choose the right brush, and use various strokes to achieve the look we were after. She gave just the right amount of help and encouragement, making it a really fun and relaxing experience for both of us. We can't wait to return for another fun evening of painting! read more

This was my 1st time going to Wine and Design in Culpeper. I took my cousin as a birthday present. The studio is on the smaller side but our instructor told us they were moving to a bigger place next month. Our instructor, who's name I forgot, was super helpful. She showed us painting techniques, explained step by step how to achieve what we wanted to. We had a lovely experience and will go again. read more

Let me just start off by saying I brought a group of girls here as part of a fun bachelorette weekend. We purchased our tickets, totaling over $300. We arrive for our time slot to find a woman in the store by herself saying that the owner tried to contact us by email. (But they asked for a phone number and email upon checking out for the tickets, let me just add). Without our response to the email, the girl tells us she had no way to have stencils with our names on them for our wooden signs that we paid for. We purchased these tickets weeks ago, and not once does it say to check your email for any further action, so of course the girl with us did not look in her email. We are told that there really is nothing we can do without the stencil, and if we tried to free hand on the wood it would just look really bad. My question for the owner, who responded extremely rude to us when we reached out to her, WHY wouldn't you have used the phone number given to you at checkout to contact us? She made no effort to try and solve this issue, instead she let us all show up TWO HOURS away from home and leave with nothing. We only left because we were under the impression that we would get a full refund if we did not participate. So it gets even better...in the extremely rude email that we received back, the owner tells us that the policy is no refunds. That is absolutely not what her employee told us while we were in that store, because had that have been stated we would have attempted to make SOMETHING to get our moneys worth. I'm so extremely disgusted and disappointed with this place. I help to operate an establishment myself as a manager and I am just so incredibly irritated that my best friends bachelorette weekend started off like this. This woman has no business running a shop. I emailed her separately stating that I would be back in the area to speak with her and still nothing. Do not waste your money here, I'm wishing I would have went to a different location as we are now $300 short and nothing to show for it. read more

I was very excited when I booked my first class at the Culpeper Wine & Design about one month in advance. Noel, studio owner, sent me an email saying the class was cancelled 4 days prior to the scheduled class. The email asked if I wanted to reschedule another class or receive a refund. I asked for a refund because I am not interested in rescheduling after being cancelled on. He never responded to my email requesting a refund and it is now 8 days later and I have not received that refund. I believe these studios are franchises but this has turned me off from ever wanting to take a class at any one of their studios. read more

I wish I could be writing a great review,but it is not. This is the second time I have signed my daughter up for a class and it has been canceled. The worst part is we were not contacted by phone about the cancellation, but instead by email 40 minutes before the class. We live 30 minutes away. Both times we have arrived and my daughter has left in tears. So dont get your child excited to go just to break their heart. Pick up a phone, I personally don't want to check email on a weekend. read more

We went for Mother's Day and the event was 1:30-3:30 and stated they start promptly. Well, we didn't even start until 2 pm, which gave us 1.5 hours to paint, and rush. The instructor stated she would not be painting but put examples to follow, ummm not so helpful. There was no hands on help which is fine but not as described, especially for the less talented artists. There was paint colors missing for what colors we were to use for our selected piece and she seemed bothered when asked for more paint or the missing paint from start. When we were wrapping up we walked away to look at others paintings and do pictures and she took away our wine, still in the glass, and all of our paint supplies, WE WERNT DONE! We felt rushed and our art was incomplete, and she seemed ready to go as the next event had been cancelled. Won't do this venue again, as there are others that we have experienced at wineries that are soooo much better and alive! read more

This was one of the coolest, most interactive experiences I have ever had!!! My coworkers and I went for team training last week and we adored it. The leader of the painting, Noelle, was so personable and happy to help us with anything. She provided tons of information if we wanted to attend again and how to do so. This is such a great addition to Culpeper, and I recommend it to anyone looking for something new or different to do in town. read more
