Amazing selection, decent prices... USUALLY friendly staff. Stay away from the nasty young girl who says things like, "I don't really care." To the customer in front of me. Then rudely checks me out and doesn't give me my receipt, then says I have to wait for the next customer before she can give it to me. This is after waiting in a huge line. Well, that's weird. I really feel like I reviewed this Wine Works at some point in the past. Apparently not! I've been coming here longer than any other liquor store in the area, believe it or not from the check ins! Prior to becoming nutty about the suds, I was in love with New Jersey wines. Wine Works was my standard spot for Valenzano, Heritage, Sharrott, etc. I stopped in yesterday afternoon since it was right on my way home from the shore area. All the usual vino suspects are still well-stocked on the shelves, but I headed straight for the beer. First off: Check the dates. Some of the beers are dusty, and that's a bit disconcerting depending on the style. Second: Make your own six-pack. I do this whenever possible in general, and they do have a nice selection here. Much larger than Wegmans, smaller than Total Wine, and maybe on par with Canal's, depending on the location. Also check out their large format bottles. I was surprised to find Transmitter Brewing in stock. Transmitter is a tiny brewery on Long Island City. Like, super tiny. Like, only a few people can comfortably fit in their tasting area at a time. Definitely try their stuff if you see it and like your beer on the funky side. Check out is always efficient. Obviously be prepared to present your ID if you're anything like me and could pass for a 19-year-old. Probably the best part of Wine Works? Very reasonable prices. My 6-pack of pretty good stuff came out to $14...aka the price I've paid for one beer on draft on a few occasions. read more

Their prices were wrong. I let the girl know at the register and she told me it was tax. I told her you don't "tax" into the price and showed her on the receipt what tax actually is. She was extremely rude. I let her know there were two shelves of incorrect pricing in their cooler of beer. Which is 19.99 for a 4 pack they were charging 20.49. There was no line and instead of doing her job and fixing my over charge she just shrugged her shoulders and was like okay..... didn't even go to find the incorrect prices to fix them. I'll tell you what, if weights and measure came in that's a1000 dollar fine for each facing of item that incorrectly priced. Maybe more now. It's always something when I go there. Last time was if you buy so many bottles of a wine, you get one free and guess what, the store NEVER stocks enough to get that wine deal. Convenient right? How many check ins do I have here? I like this store a lot & the main reason is because of the seemingly limitless variety. I have never walked into this store & spent less than 30 minutes casually wandering through their well stocked shelves & browsing their ever changing selection. If you buy the membership card, you can hang out with the rest of the cool kids at the wine sampling station. It's automated, simply take a glass, insert your card & pick the wine you wish to sample. I always enjoy visiting Wine Works. I wish they would franchise and open more stores! Pay $10 for a membership card (lifetime member) and receive 4 wine tastings per day! What a great deal! They change their wines out weekly. Your card is gets loaded with a dollar amount - I think it starts at $1000.00. (You will understand it more when you see it). When your card comes to a zero balance, they refill the card for free! Again, a one time lifetime membership. Coupons - They do not have coupons, however, there is a daily email that goes out informing you of any special deal that day or special product. Also, if you shop at ShopRite in Marlton, there is a 10% discount coupon on 1 bottle of wine (non-sale item) on the back of your store receipt. HUGE selection of specialty wines and beers - items that you will not find at your local liquor store, Joe Canals, or Trainos. I went on vacation to Charleston and had a specialty beer at this dive restaurant (so good too) that Wine Works carried the supply of that same beer! I was sooo excited. Service is great, take your time and leisure, and explore the store. There is also a cheese shop as well. They will at times provide cheese samples near the Wine Tasting area. I truly love this place. Great Big Selection of wines, and liquors. I would assume they sell beer too, but I never looked for it. I love the wine tasting that they offer, self serve...when I am home bored, I always have something I can do, lol. The staff is very attentive, and available if you have any questions. They always find the answers to your questions as well. I bought a bottle of wine that I thought I would want to taste when I got home, and I used the wine chiller that they have, and it worked great. You can chill the wine to very cold in 5 min, or just cold in 3 min. The wine was still cold when I got home maybe 20-30 min later. So if in doubt, check it out. Horrible, On the phone the first "sales person" could not even confirm that they sold scotch whiskey despite it being on their site. I was then transferred to a "manager" who found it , but said the ~$65 was "way below the minimum to send same day delivery". When I asked what was the minimum, he said 75, to which I said "ok, just 10 more, lets take the 14 year which was ~$79. He then said he "thought" that would work. This is probably the nicest liquor store I have been in. They have a huge selection of all kinds of spirits, beers, cheese etc., not just wine. The wine selection is extensive and there are cards with food pairings. The beer and craft beer section is extensive also. There is usually wine, beer or cheese tasting going on whenever I visit. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The big thing that sets Wine Works apart from the competition is how pleasant it is inside. Some liquor stores can be a little sketchy at times but not here. It is bright, modern, clean and sophisticated. read more

While the wines tend to get most of the attention here, their beer selection is quite impressive. I think that Canal's (around the corner) may have more 6 packs/cases than they do here, Wine Works definately shines with the option of making your own 6 pack or the larger bottle offering (.5 liter for instance). Some domestic and international offerings here that I have not seen elsewhere, or varieties of brands that you will not see in other locations. Prices aren't the cheapest, at least for the things I've looked at, but considering the location and the offering, I am not surprised, this isn't a beer outlet for instance. The proximity to Shop Rite also means that you can knock out your regular food shopping and your beer/booze shopping at the same time. read more

Love the cheese selection-why doesn't every wine store have a large, fresh cheese selection that mirrors the Italian market. Seriously this is how every wine store should be. The selection of spirits is really difficult to beat. Wineworks has your standards, but also a very deep and broad library of esoteric bottles. If you like making higher concept drinks, chances are that you will find the ingredients here. The beer inventory has, also, evolved nicely. There is an elaborate display of cans (many local) as well as larger bombers. What stops me from providing 5 stars is that the higher level employees are not that helpful. Wine Works, I love you. Where else would I pit-stop before church? It felt wrong but right. You've got it all. Munchies? Check. Cheese case? Check. Mix-a-six? Check. You're everything I never knew I always wanted. Buy a sampling card for $10 to taste any four (at a time) of the 15-or-so wines offered. Not a bad lunch time buzz. And if you're en route to a BYOB dinner escapade stop here for your libations and nowhere else. Whichever bottle of wine you choose, place it in the wine bath - a vat of chilled water that will swiftly cool a bottle for your imminent meal. But let not the title fool you, there is more than wine working here. A double bottle of Ketel One was only $45 on sale. There were more single bottles available to create a mix-a-six with than I've ever seen elsewhere. And if you'd like a keg, of any variety, just ask. They'll order the one you desire. I was passing through the area one evening, in search of Great Lakes, which I regrettably cannot get in North Jersey (come on, April 22!). After a failed stop at one of the zillion Canals in the area, someone recommended WineWorks. These days, I am increasingly underwhelmed by the selection at many stores. The mantra of "throw a few Sierra Nevadas and Founders on the shelf so we can say we sell craft beer" doesn't really cut it for me. WineWorks, though, impressed me. There was an extensive aisle of refrigerated beer and three aisles of other craft. One aisle was devoted to random singles where you can make your own sixer (I love when places have this and wish more places did), one had big bottles, and another had international craft beers. And they had craft even I had never heard of, from places I'd never have expected like Costa Rica. They have Japanese craft - and not just all Hitachino. They had a very ample selection - the biggest I've seen to date aside from what's at Eataly - of beers from my favorite Italian brewery, Birra del Borgo. As the name suggests, the entire right half of the store is dedicated to wine. And I'm sure the selection is fantastic. However, I went in with the intention of grabbing that Great Lakes and walked out with $75 in my bank account. The store is clean, bright, and spacious. The cashier was nice. This place is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area and even if you aren't! read more

I'm not a wine guy so you may wonder why I stepped foot in a place called Wine Works. Well I was actually referred to Wine Works via an employee of another liquor store (a very reputable one at that) for their beer selection, and pleased I was. I noticed that they had a huge wine selection as well as a wine tasting/cheese bar so wine snobs take note. As far as their beer selection goes, they are easily one of the best stores as far as price/selection goes in South Jersey. They are the only store I've found in the area that carries New Jersey Brewing Company, which makes one of my favorite stouts. They also have a great International beer selection. When I went to check out, the cashier was very friendly and was talking with me about beer. The only reason I don't give a full 5 stars is because I noticed some of the beer bottles were dusty, which leads me to believe that they've been sitting on the shelf a while. Finally a non Canals option in the area! This place is great. It was designed to be a Circuit City which never went in, so it is very spacious and comfortable to shop in. It is by far the most attractive liquor store in south jersey. The management really seems to know what they are doing and customer service seems high on their list. Their manager/beer specialist Brian is SO helpful. The only reason I took a star off is because the cashiers seem a little ditzy at times. I liked when they used to ask you every time if you have a Wineworks card. The last time I was in, I chose a wine with the Wineworks card discounted price and forgot to pull it out until my transaction had already been completed. I know it was my oversight, but it made me realize how much I appreciated the reminder each time I pay. Other pros... - Clean public bathrooms - A really nice walk-in cigar room - An incredible Beer selection with a knowledgeable staff to back it up. For what you need, its good. They have a good selection of craft beers that you can grab one of, and the location is convenient, but I've had a few issues- and I don't come here often. Last year a cashier insisted i keep swiping my credit card. Which I was skeptical about, but I figured the machine might have acted up earlier in the day, so I swiped again. Once I went home I realized because he had me swipe so much it charged my account twice for the order. Luckily they refunded me my money back the next day. Two months ago I went in and saw a bottle of BirdDog BBQ sauce which sounded great, but when I checked the back it had expired the month before. I told an employee, he said, "ok" and kept walking. In June I went in to grab some ice for a camping trip. While I was there I wandered around and found the expired condiment still on shelves. I told an employee who I saw tell a manager. She thanked me and said it would be removed. I went in today (July) to grab some beer for my boyfriend and once again saw the same expired sauce out for purchase. Call me crazy for paying attention to these things. I know many friends and family who would still use it. But it sounds like a health hazard for a business to sell expired goods to the public. And for them to keep it on shelves after being notified twice?! I just wanted some BBQ sauce but not only have you lost that purchase but you may have lost a customer. Too gross! read more

This is the only place I have found in the tri-state area that sells bottles of Choya Umeshu with real ume fruits in the bottom. If you're unfamiliar with umeshu, it's alcohol made from a Japanese apricot. It's sweet and a little tart. I got hooked on it in Japan, and I am so happy I can have it again. Also, this places carries real sake! Not that terrible stuff that tastes like lighter fluid. It's actually from Japan, and I bought a nice dry one from Ehime prefecture in Shikoku. I used to think I hated sake because I'd only had terrible sake. This place still carries some of that stuff too. Just walk past it and pick up some of the real stuff. Also, they have this dessert wine called Solera 1927 that tastes like Maple syrup and candied raisins. I think it's the best wine I've ever had. I haven't seen it at other places in the area. The liquor selection has lots of strange amazing things. You really would think this is just a regular liquor store with it being in a strip mall next to a Petsmart in the burbs, but the selection of hard to find items is amazing. It's better than Total Wine in Delaware, and Total Wine is huge! It's worth paying the $4 to cross the bridge to get my hard to find items at Wine Works. read more

And they do it in a much classier setting than most NJ liquor stores. For the craft beer drinker, they have an incredible selection. I even found Delirium Tremens here!! Staying in the area, Wine Works was a convenient choice from my hotel. The selection of craft beers was BIG, but the prices were a bit steep. We splurged, and had fun making up our own six-pack. It seems $3.50 for a regular 12 oz is a lot, even if it has a high alcohol content. ;) The wines were divided up in a few different ways, smart marketing on their part. There were sections based on price, based on specials, on "velvety" versus "bold" and of course by region. There is also a tasting area that apparently requires you having a member card. Wine Works is another big store in a crowed area around Rt 70 and 73 that stands up to the long established stores. Selection is fairly encompassing and prices can rival larger more established stores. I buy more than my share of wine and with prices constantly climbing at Less Brothers and Total Wine, Wine Works offers a price shopper such as myself a reason to stock up. Yes they also have a good beer and liquor selection, but my review is for wine. If you like wine and not spending too much, you can find some real deals here. Yes they have cheese, not a huge selection but a nice fit to go with wine, a value tasting area ($10.00 to taste any 4 wines) and a wine chiller (stick a bottle and it gets cold fast, but you can do the same by spinning a bottle in ice water). My only concern is that once they establish themselves in the market place, prices will rise. Until that happens you can take advantage of the low price, high quality offerings. read more

I'm so happy to have this shop in our neighborhood, It's such a pleasant stop on my list of errands. The tasting machine is great, because I really need to try what I'm buying. I'm not an expert, but I know when I find something that I love. I've also been known to go home with a crap bottle of wine because the lable was cool. Being able to try something before taking it home is great. The selection of wines is impressive. We've found some really interesting bottles. Few things to note - in the front of the store, there is a tasting section. There is a small fee for a lifetime membership ($10 I think), but it's worth it. You can taste both red and white wines before you buy. Try something new, etc. Also up there, there is a wonderful selection of cheeses. You can find a cheese to go with any wine you purchase and there is typically someone working in that area who can recommend a cheese if you're not sure. Also, there is often a cheese or two out with the wine tasting. Lastly, if you shop at ShopRite, your receipt will often print a coupon on the back for WineWorks. read more

I recently booked marked this based on Monya V's review and so glad I was able to make it in. It is out of the way for me and I almost never make it out to Mt Laurel but this will all change now that I have my wine tasting membership($10) one time charge. I make it a point to replenish my stash at home on a weekly basis and was able to find a great white and red to bring home. It is definately a pro to be able to taste before deciding. The white is the Santa Rita Organic Sauvignon Blanc. The red Vinas Viejas De Paniza 2012 Garnacha. When you first purchase your membership you will be taken back to obtain your card and then given a quick tutorial. Basically, don't leave your glass on the counter as the machine will miss your glass and pour on the counter instead hold it in the air directly under spout. Insert your card chip facing downward and leave it there do not remove. Press and hold the button over your choice until it stops pouring it is pre measured so don't worry. Most importantly take your card back as you will NEED it later. I even made a friend! Not really but it's easy to strike a conversation over wine. I cannot wait to come back! Also, my fiance was able to find beer that is hard to find at some of our usual liquor stores which is a plus. read more

We ended up here purely by chance... coming back home from a shopping trip and navigating through the construction at the Marlton Circle, we saw the sign and decided to stop by and check it out.. Although I expected your run of the mill liquor store but instead I got to enter heaven... First of all, the store is huge, bright, clean and very nicely arranged... I might not be a fan of their decor, but it still much better than 99% of other liquor stores.... Secondly, it's not a wine store, as the name suggests nor it is really a liquor store either - you have a bit of everything you need - wine, beer, hard liquor (just as you would anywhere else) but on top of that you get a high-end cheese shop, wine tasting section, cigar shop and even movies!! I mean, what else can you possible need when buying alcohol?? The cheese shop selection is small, but very strong and the prices are competitive... While I am not a wine aficionado, I can appreciate the size of their collection and my wife, who does know her wine, was certainly impressed... What's more, they have a wine tasting machine - you buy a membership for $5 that gives you 2000 points on a card, you slide the card into the machine and it give you an ounce to taste (and you can do a lot of tasting for your money - though they do limit you to four per 24 hours!!)... Beer, well, what can I say - one of if not the best selection in South Jersey with ability to pick your own six-pack and people who know their beer and can help you out... Also, they deliver and if you live nearby, it's free.. All in all, this is now officially the best liquor store in the area.... read more

This store is huge. Even though I asked for an obscure bottle of Moscato (which the website said they had but I couldn't find in the Moscato section) the employee I asked immediately directed me to the Kosher section where it was (yay!). There are rows and rows of wine, beer, and liquor. It wasn't quite as big as some of the warehouse type stores I'm used to in the Baltimore area, but those stores don't carry either of the wines I was looking for. My husband and I walked out with 7 bottles of wine for around $100. If we lived nearby, we would've definitely paid more attention to the cheese section, which looked quite good. Another thing we would take advantage of if we lived in the area was the chill machine... I can't believe I've never seen one of those before, but I imagine it's extremely helpful if your bringing a bottle somewhere and need it quickly chilled. My husband's family doesn't live too far so thankfully I'll be able to return at some point when I deplete my current stash. read more
