This is just real wine that speaks to you if you are open enough to listen to it. No natty wine bro talk here just real farming practices by real people who care about the environment. And the wine...they're amazing, they've got soul and personality. After tasting Long Island wines for many years these wines were a welcome for my taste buds. Connie and Rex are unfiltered and welcoming in a world and industry full of salespeople. Beautiful and inviting home. They made and the kids feel like we were visiting family even offering the kids something to eat or drink. Kids decided to play with several of the cats which are also super friendly. Once done with the flight tasting, Rex invited us for a ride in their pickup truck through the vineyards. If you want to truly understand wine, this is one of the best places and people to do this with. You feel connected in so many ways from soil to vine to glass through Rex and Connie. It's one of the best wine experience I've had in my 23 years in the wine trade. Looking forward to coming back for harvest.

Our instructor was terrific and was able to focus on the class with the added distraction of goats running around and some Yogi's only there for the libations. Thanks to our instructor I was able to follow her instructions and keep up with the class, not bad for a newbie. The goats were cool and did not get in our way most of the time. The goat handlers did a great job preparing the goats and handing out food to us to feed the goats. There were a couple of accidents but the poop easily rolls off the yoga mats. Thanks to Drew for setting up this complicated event. This event had the added bonus of proceeds going to charity.

My favorite moment was when the goats were first released. Nothing like a bunch of cuties running towards you. They were so friendly and adorable, and very chill about being pet. As much as I'm not a yogi, the class from Cocomotion was fairly easy to follow, and the instructor was extraordinarily knowledgeable and patient. I liked that she brought an upbeat playlist that included some pop music. Made it much more fun to follow. The biscuits from Main Road Biscuit Co. were incredible, as is everything they make. The honey butter and peach jam took them above and beyond. The LIV distillery was a bit of a let down for me today. They didn't seem too thrilled to have us there- the bartenders were extremely unfriendly. I've had pleasant experiences here before, so was really shocked at the shift in hospitality. Additionally, the Bloody Marys were eh. Long Island Spirits makes an amazing Bourbon, so I'd been hoping for a drink option involving that. Overall, super cool event. I laughed all morning, which was much needed. I pet lots of goats. And I got a sweet Yelp swag bag. What more could you ask for?

You have a great driver, Kevin, who is very knowledgeable, friendly, fun, and most of all patient to put up with all our drunken shenanigans during this past weekend's Yelp Beer Bus event. The bus itself is clean, comfortable, and has both a tv and dock for playing your Ipod's. It's a great way to get around and taste a lot of beer without having to worry about getting a DWI ! Kevin knows all the routes to some of the best local breweries, and is a big craft beer guy himself. They do many beer tasting events on LI and around the local NY area and have packages available for group trips, or shorter shuttles to the local brew tastings. Check out the website for upcoming beer events and rates. To me, it's totally worth the cost to enjoy a worry free, and safe day, rather than drinking and driving. We hit up Great South Bay, Long Ireland, and Port Jeff Brewing Company. That last stop in Port Jeff on a terrific spring day was just perfect to try some beers and then wander around the town for a bite to eat before heading back to the train station to drop us off. Kevin has a great little biz here that I wholeheartedly endorse. Also, between stops it pretty much became a beer fueled dance party bus with some moves going on that would put some strippers to shame! Yay beer!

We went to Orchard Vineyards, Sherwood House and Long Ireland Brewery. Kevin is extremely personable and very knowledgeable about his stops and the Long Island Beer and Wine Scene. Easily over 200 hundred different varieties of craft beer and I'm pretty sure I sampled every single one. (The ride home I'm not so sure about?) Thank God for the DD tickets they have for non-drinkers! The bbq was pretty amazing as well; paired perfectly with the beer. People were very friendly and out to have a really good time, what a great crowd. We were lucky to have such a nice day too as the weather called for thunder storms. Whats better on a hot sunny day than ice cold beer?!? Will definitely coming back yearly to this event. I would have come last year too but they sold out fast ***Tip: get your tickets on-line as soon as they go on sale***. They do not over sell, so no tickets available at the door! Added perk: A LOT of swag and beer-related merchandise for sale. I picked up a sick growler in the shape of a gargolye for 35 bucks! Yesss!

I'm pleased to share that almost every craft brewery from longguyland was there, and even one or two I've never heard of before (Po'boy brewery, who ARE you, really?). I started taking pictures of everything I enjoyed because after 10 or so of those tastes, the mind starts getting a little fuzzy. I couldn't find any wine tastings, unlike the previous years. Still - totally OK with me there was PLENTY of unusual beers and ciders to enjoy. In regard to the food ...... what ....happened? Not unlike everyone else, I was peeved about the eats. Previously, you'd get a ticket included in the price of admission to score some BBQ. This year, they only had 4 food trucks for noshes. FOUR. To feed, I don't know well over 1,000 people? Yikes. It's completely inefficient to make one order at a time when 25-40 people are waiting on each line. I spent 35+ mins roasting in the sun, then another 20 parking my sweaty self down in the shade to consume my much awaited prize. Almost an hour of a 3.5 hour event was lost just to grab half a meal. Make no mistake, the chicken sliders from the sweet buns truck were good, but paired with the lackluster overpriced parmesan truffle fries ($7), and the wait, I should have just brought a couple of KIND bars to stuff in my face instead. Leaving was a sheet show. Literally. We saw a girl dropping off some brown babies next to a car in FULL view of the road. Listen lady, at least go in the bushes or hide behind the car door to do your business. No one wanted to see that. Traffic wasn't super well orchestrated out of the place either. The security and staff were trying, but it was going slooooow. There wasonly one egress and a buncha' crazies in their cars so I was glad we all rented a short bus. I'd go again, but the organizers really need to up their game next year.
