The desk clerk, Elizabeth, was outstanding! She was so upbeat, positive, cheerful and helpful that we bought her a flower arrangement. For my job, I lived in a hotel for 2 weeks a month for 5 years and some days a month for the previous 28 years, and I never had a desk clerk like this. My girl friend agreed. The lady manager came over to our table at breakfast (which was great) and thanked us for being do nice to her desk clerk and we told her it was well deserved. As for the overall amenities of hotel they were excellent. I did see where someone complained about insufficient charging outlets. Our room had two on each bedside lamp, another 2 on the desk, and more wall plugs. How many devices does he have? Hotel is in a great location, close to river, if that's your trip and many restaurants. Check in is very easy and you may also do many pre-check in and out info when text is send to phone. The rooms are okay, we stayed in King size bed on 2nd floor. Quiet, but obvious that room is use by many river outgoers since it smelled closed up and until the last night I noticed what I thought were curtain stains to be mold, little but mold. Outdated lamps, sofa, bed etc. but good enough for 1-2 night stay. Bring block to charge electronic devices. There was a nice size fridge and microwave, very much appreciated. I was there for business and pleasure. I stayed at another hotel for several days and my last stay was here. I would like to give them great reviews for their customer service from the front desk Elizabeth and it was a guy that was there too. Both were awesome. This place is disgusting. I checked in for the night and booked from Hotels.com. The cleanliness of the place was the poorest I have ever seen. Splatters of stuff on every single wall. The window was unlocked and the pole removed. Pain chipped from the wall in many places. The toilet hadn't been cleaned in a WHILE. Semen stains on the sheets right where the pillow is. The mattress cover and sheets don't fit or cover the bed. The mattress is 50% visible and uncovered. There was a HEAVY layer of dust on the living surfaces of the room. The curtain was torn and ripped. Microwave was dirty and had a lot of old food. I spent one hour in the hotel room. Tried to set my child up to take a bath, and she couldn't because the stopper was broken. After taking a look around, I knew we would not be staying here. I did not speak to a manager because there was no recovery. The condition and level of standard was not going to be ok for me in any room within this facility. Room also has a living room area with its own Tv which I really like. Free WiFi and free buffet breakfast ! Room also included a safe which i know some folks really like that! The hotel and staff is nice. My only concern is when you put a do not disturb sign on the door and the make the room up anyway disturbs me. I didn't want strangers coming and rearranging my things so they can clean. They say they have a green policy but the towels I hung up to dry were replaced anyway. I was only here for two days, my room wasn't even dirty. There is plenty of parking in the rear. (After posting this review I noticed there are no cameras at the back of the hotel.) Breakfast and wifi were excellent as well. Nice pool, gym smelled funny but most do. Coffee in the lobby all day long is a plus. Close to everything in San Marcus. It's got a bed and a shower and if that's all you're looking for then this is the place for you. The ceiling above the shower was falling off. The curtains seemed as if they were see through so if a peeking Tom wanted to they could look into the room. Fresh towels and sheets needed to be requested and would be charged to the room. My boyfriend and I booked a room last minute . They gave us a room with two queen beds . We were out most of the day. First of all when I used the shower there was already a used soap bar from whoever stayed in this room before us. When we got in one of the beds my boyfriend found a sucker stick in the middle of the bed. I was immediately grossed out and wanted to pack up and go home . Finding that made me think they did not change the sheets . We then tried the other queen bed . It was even worse . There was a big red stain on the bottom of the sheet. When I moved the sheets It looked like someone blew their nose inside of it . It was late, we were tired and I didn't feel like sleep was going to happen. I would've rather slept in my car than in either of those disgusting beds. Luckily I had jackets in my car and a pillow and just made a pallet . read more

I'm very disappointed with the reason they gave me of a charge that I wasn't suppose to be charged. The man on the phone said we won't charge you until you come in and check in. I didn't get to check in because I went to Austin instead. Plans change and I didn't think they would charge me $113 for nothing. So be careful and there's no cancellation policy on their website. Came back for my son's graduation. I am fine with the size of the room, bathroom, housekeeping awesomeness. We were right next to the elevator and ice which turned out to be perfect. But gosh darn it- the sofa bed!!! Bypass the "mattress look"- you know white cover with cord on the edges. Just put a rectangle of springs folded into thirds and be done. My poor son had to sleep in that mess for two nights and it was clear he was missing his bedbug ridden hovel in NYC. Breakfast was good. Fridge worked-ish. Not worth the money at all. For starters, there are not comforters on the beds, just sheets. You have to go to the front desk to sign for a comforter to ensure they don't get stolen. We were also told there are no towels to give to guests today. Daily cleanings are not done. There are very limited toiletries, and you must go to the front desk to request items for your room.... Like toilet paper. There are a lot of stains on the bedding and a lot of dents and scratches on the walls. The fire department has been out twice in two days because the fire alarm system does not work, either. read more

The hotel is a bit dated and could use some upgrades. The room doors slam if you don't hold it while you shut it. However, the employees, every one, were great, accommodating and friendly which made the stay much more enjoyable. DO NOT STAY HERE. Room was NOT CLEANED. Opened up the mini fridge and there was someone's DILDO frozen IN THERE. If that isn't enough, the toilet didn't flush. AC barely worked. But don't worry we had a lovely view of the dumpster and lots of random people walking by to look into our room. Management was not helpful at all. I strictly made this yelp to make good reviews and support local businesses and was never going to leave a bad review until now. I got a king sized room as a college student traveling over the weekend. First of all, the room was 76 degrees when I got here and took hours to cool down. I had to go to the store and run late so that I could get travel sized shampoo (they provide some verbena shampoo but it contains DMDM hydantoin which was involved in a class action lawsuit with tresemme for hair loss and scalp irritation- do NOT use it.) I attempted to use one of the towels they provided to dry off that smelled so bad of mildew, I had to air dry. Last, I attempted to access the internet because I had assignments due the day after I arrived and it didn't work. They asked me to call tech support so I spent 20 minutes on the phone with tech until they told me they would call back 3 hours later after troubleshooting (my assignment due date would've passed by then). I was left with no choice but to switch hotels at 11 AM today and stay across the parking lot at the Hampton, which I should've went to in the first place. I came to relax this weekend and the hotel I chose made most of my trip here pointless. Choose wisely and know you get what you pay for. Do not stay here. read more

Great Rates for What You Get. Stayed here while we worked on a Haunted House, the place is pretty clean, staff friendly and helpful, and the rooms are cozy. Cleanliness. 10/10 Staff does a good job of cleaning rooms and breakfast lobby. Haven't found anything that looked like it needed serious cleaning. Staff. 10/10 Front desk helped us get our rooms quickly so we could rest up right then and there. Room cleaners respect the the do not disturb sign. Rooms. 8/10 Like most hotels I've seen, the bathrooms in the rooms do not have vents. This has always been an issue for me. Fridges worked, lighting was good, and the beds comfy. Shower stall has soap, shampoo and conditioner available. Breakfast 7/10 Breakfast is open for decent amount of time. They have waffle makers, always a plus. This place is just not good at all. You'll pay 3 star prices, but the hotel is more like half star. My family and I stayed there over the 4th of July long weekend. Totally disappointed in the service and what this hotel offered. Other guests at the hotel played loud music at the pool well after hours. On Friday night after coming back to the hotel from dinner the same guest that was playing loud music was having bar-b-que in the parking lot. They blocked off three to four parking spots. The spots the blocked off were handicap spots, which we needed. After we found a spot around the back I told the person on duty and he didn't bother to do anything about this...so in other words if you want to pay high prices and have a "ghetto" experience book this hotel. I stayed here for 3 months due to the apartment complex I was supposed to move in not being finished. The room is very clean and spacious, TV was a 32-inch LCD which wasn't bad, and there were fridge/microwave in the room. The staff and the owner was really kind. I taught 9am classes in the university that semester, and one day the taxi I reserved couldn't come. The owner kindly offered to give me a ride to the university! And when there was a problem with the internet, as soon as I reported the problem, they had a person come in to look into the problem. My only gripe, which is the reason I took off a star, was the breakfast. It was a typical continental-style breakfast, with oatmeal/eggs/bread/waffles/sausage/cereal every day. Wished there was a vegetable soup or something... It was fine for the first two or three days or so, but imagine eating the same thing for a few months... Regardless, this hotel was the best I have stayed in in that 100~130 per night price-range. (And I travel often due to conferences, so I have experienced lots of hotels) read more

Our room was nice and clean. No smell to it. No cockroaches. They lay out nice soaps and even a makeup remover wipe which I thought was lovely. The only reason why it's not getting 5 stars is because of the bed. It has weird square shape pillows. I noticed this in Quality Inns as well. I have no idea why they can't just have regular sized ones. Also the rooms get cold fast and the comforter is so thin. I like heavy down feather comforters for this occasion. HORRIBLE!!! First of all, the bathroom had peeling dry wall and the floor looked disgustingly dirty. Secondly, the bathroom door wouldn't close properly leaving it to be open the entire time. Thirdly, we came back to the room after a wedding and couldn't find parking, it was all full. We parked behind a vehicle that was parked directly in front of the building and were courteous enough to tell the front desk clerk we parked behind that vehicle. She rudely told us to move our truck and park on the other side where Luby's parking lot is. I asked politely why that vehicle was able to park there and not us, she stated very rudely, that's mine! Long story short, we were very irate with her attitude and unprofessionalism and unfortunately spoke about it as we walked to our room. She charged at us like a raging bull and told us to leave and that she was calling the cops. How dare she not understand our frustration and how unfair it was to not allow us to park in front of her building being that she was parked there as well. She definitely needs to take classes on hotel etiquette and professionalism!!! read more

At first I wasn't sure about booking here, considering this place didn't have any reviews, but I'm so glad I did! Our hotel room (standard - double queen) was very clean, the AC worked perfectly, there's a new LG Tv (with HBO), and the bathroom is spacious. I especially liked that they included a mini fridge and a microwave as well. You may not always use them, but it's nice to know they're there. The room is soundproof as well, no noises heard from neighboring hotel rooms or the street. The staff were friendly enough and they mentioned that the hotel had free wifi and a free breakfast. Unfortunately I have not yet tried either of those, so I can't say much about them, but as for the hotel room itself, I'm definitely a happy customer. read more
