Yesterday I checked in ahead of time with my arrival time and selected my room as they allowed. Specifically choosing it for its quiet location and proximity to stairs. When you do this you get a confirmation that literally says "you're checked in!" And gives you the room number and then says you can bypass the front desk and head straight to the room with your digital key. 3 pm rolls around as I'm driving into the parking lot as planned and no digital key. I go to the front desk and the gaslighting ensues: yeah they choose poor wording is the response to "I've already checked in my it says my room isn't ready". Then he tried to switch me to 415. 415 is behind elevators. The exact opposite of the quiet I selected ahead of time. Then he says or you have have 20something (this hotel is wood construction and you can hear walking on the floors above.) He says he'll take my number and call when it's ready after I say I'll wait. Nah I'll just sit in the lobby. A few minute go by and I get a notification my room is ready- 415- the room I said no thank you to. I say nothing. A few more minutes. "Your room is ready" and I come up to the desk with my cards. And he tries to give me another room- another one I didn't ask for. In the center of the hallway. And I've had it before and know it has some electrical wiring crossed in the lighting. I again decline and say I'll wait. I don't know why it has to be this difficult and dishonest/gaslit. If you're not going to honor reservations just say that so I can choose to go elsewhere.

Where do I start, room wasn't near as clean as it should be. There was a French fry in the A/C unit vent. There was hair in the shower. Long black hair on a clean towel I took to try to go to the pool. When I walked to the pool there was a paper sign saying it was closed but was weathered. I asked the front desk, the person had no clue, called the owner who also had no clue so they called the pool "guy" and got back to me 45mins later. This was a Friday. I only had an hour to relax before my obligations that evening and I couldn't use the pool. They had no hand soap in the rooms and when I asked for some they said they didn't have it at all!!! Also I asked for a safe which the website says they have and they told me they didn't have one. The refrigerator knob was completely missing and turned down super warm so I had to have the front desk come up with pliers to adjust it and it didn't even get cold after that. The paper towel holder was cheap and would fall over trying to grab a paper towel. Also there was only one working elevator when they had two and the one took forever. I'm an understanding person but for almost $700 for two days this is unacceptable.

The furniture was dusty. The paint was peeling from the wall. The restroom in the pool area was locked the entire time. The amenities don't work in all the rooms. Watch out for that one. Not enough baggage carts to accommodate guest. The staff was not very accommodating at all. No manager on site the whole three days I visited to help with the situation.

Parking is available for $5.00 a day. Yes $5 bucks as of this writing..no typo. It is further from the city than other hotels, but the drive is only about 15 to 20 minutes to downtown. Also super close to the airport and with the free pickup and drop off shuttle..it's definitely worth it to stay here. The staff is super friendly especially the night desk clerk and when you wake up there's a free breakfast to start your day! Stay here before everyone finds out. It's a real gem. Tip for people staying a week...they have happy hour on Wednesday if I'm not mistaken and there are bbq that you can use to cook steaks if you like.

Then they told me they had removed the night reservation and I would need to rebook and pay again for the last night. When I called Hilton all I got was a runaround. My company had booked 20 hotel rooms there for a meeting and we do this quarterly. You just lost that business because you wanted a customer to pay for a room twice. Would not recommend this place as they were the most inflexible hotel ever.

My confirmation email from the hotel/Booking.com, however, clearly stated that this type of cancellation (as well as a no-show) would result in a charge of one night ($125.35), yet the hotel charged the full $262.20 reservation amount. I have spent nearly a year trying to resolve this with the hotel. Booking.com also confirmed in writing that I was entitled to the partial refund. The hotel has continued to retain the additional $136.85, despite the cancellation terms provided with my reservation. Per the hotel's own policy, this was an improper retention of my money and a failure to honor the terms I agreed to when booking. I do want to acknowledge that the Marriott corporate office was extremely helpful and courteous in trying to address the situation and has issued me a gift card as a goodwill gesture. I appreciate their assistance. Unfortunately, the actual hotel is still refusing to refund the amount it charged beyond the stated cancellation fee. After nearly a year of trying to resolve this, I cannot recommend this property even the slightest. I would be very cautious about booking here, particularly if there is any possibility you may need to cancel as they have clearly shown they will not honor their own cancellation policy.

Ivan was the front desk clerk that was apart of this check in process. I presented the card I used to pay in advance along with my Identification upon check in, he confirmed and let me know it would be a $50 dollar incidental fee. I agreed and proceeded to unlock my phone to pay and he proceeded to tell me I could not use another form of payment or Apple Pay to pay the deposit for incidentals. I explained to Ivan that I've stayed at this property before and have done so and is that something I could see in writing . He proceeded to pull up a Google document and said "I could just look it up". He then prompted me to use a physical card and I again explained to him I did not want to use the Same card for the deposit and that I wanted to use my card on my Apple pay, which you guys offer at your property . If it were a concern for fraudulent activity, why would it be offered as a form or payment . When prompted to pay I used to the form of payment of my tap to pay and it approved. He then told me he was denying me entry due to me using the tap to pay. His actions were completely unacceptable and unprofessional. This seemed very racially motivated. Additionally I was contacted by Terri B, the General Manager (who wasn't present) and she was very dismissive, lacked compassion , and comprehension. She ultimately supported her employees poor actions and did not do anything to assist me as a customer or member. When I reached out to the IHG guest relations team, a representative forwarded me Ivan's EXACT words that he stated upon denying me entry (see attachment) . THE MESSAGE WAS VERY RACIST! IHG ultimately refunded my points and cash , while first saying they could only do POINTS . This entire situation was disappointing, and I will not recommend this property to anyone, especially women of color.

The rest of our family members returned home on 6-01 so we checked out of the estate & came here. We wanted to stay behind to spend more time with our TX family. The Atwell Suites fit the budget perfectly. This hotel is conveniently close to the airport. As an IHG member, I was able to get great member rates. I chose this hotel because I saw it recently had renovations & provided a complimentary daily breakfast. Check in was quick & friendly. The young man was very welcoming & told us about the breakfasts & pointed out the location. We were there just in time for their Bar & Bites but it's not complimentary and rather pricey. We checked into the suite and it had a modern decor, was in great condition & was clean. We had an issue with the shower and they addressed it rather quickly. The bed & pillows were very comfortable and their air conditioning worked very well. They had beneficial black out shades, which assured a good night's sleep. They provided high end skin care, Apotheke, in the bathroom. The scent was pleasant & subtle. Shower had excellent water pressure and towels were plentiful. I took one star off because they had a nice, big counter but only had one barstool. The kitchenette area had a small refrigerator & small microwave. They had a bench in the area, which was not a good use of space. A small bistro set would have been ideal since only one barstool was furnished. The closet had 2 access points: one from the bathroom & another from the kitchenette. It would have been nice to have a dresser in the room to store additional items instead of constantly going into suitcases. There was a TV in the room conveniently placed across from the bed. We couldn't believe all the channels they provided. It was like being at home so we really appreciated that. The days were so exhausting that it was nice to come here to chill while watching our favorite shows. Most hotels only provide a handful of channels. It was so convenient & a money saver to have a complimentary, hot breakfast each morning and the offerings didn't really vary from day to day. The breakfast was in The Common and shared the space with the lobby. Their 24-hour beverage station was convenient and was located in a very nicely decorated and comfortable looking seating section situated across from The Common. Coffee was excellent. They also had a conference room, which could be reserved. Check out was quick but not very friendly. The young lady told us she was having a bad day when I asked to take her photo. She refused & I honored that. Some people aren't suited for hospitality. I'm so sorry you had a bad day but that's the worst thing you can say to a customer. Instead you should have thanked us for our stay since customers like us keep you employed. The customer service I received over text messages, however, were very professional and responsive. Due to the issue with the shower, they compensated me with additional points, which wasn't expected but appreciated. Their commitment to superb customer service was evident. Unfortunately, it didn't spill over into some of their onsite staff. Nonetheless, we were thankful for the very comfortable and relaxing stay. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in the future.
