My dad bought us once in a lifetime seats for the Warriors v Celtics finals as a bucket list trip, but we were stuck at JFK all day due to security ground stops in Boston. We flew in the night before, but after 8 hours of flight delays and 2+ hours back and forth on the tarmac, we needed to find a way to Boston in spite of all rental cars and train seats being sold out. We were desperate! I called around and no charter could get us to Boston. We are by no means ballers, but I fly small planes as a hobby, so I called a dozen FBOs and Wings Air was the only answer to our prayers. They managed to get us to a nearby regional airport with only one hour notice, and arranged a car to bring us to TD Arena in time to watch most of the game where we wound up winning. The morning of our reservation, they cancelled our flight. While other flight times were offered later that evening, sadly none of them worked. Things happen, they had a more important flight to take care of, which is understandable...but the followup service with this company offers more spin than a rotor blade. Management only offered a 3 week window to rebook our flight, heading into the holidays. When asked to provide a longer window to rebook my time, they just provided more information on why I should have been prepared for this to happen, like it was my fault. We took a Sunday afternoon helicopter ride over the Hudson Valley area. Right now Wings heli is doing a 12 minute ride for only $90 per person. It's a great way to experience a helicopter ride for a great price. Anna and Kevin (pilot) were so kind and helpful. I've also been there before in better weather for a full NYC ride which was just as wonderful. The hanger is located in Westchester and very easy to get to from Scarsdale and not too far from NYC. bought this for my daughter's graduation from grad school - we are a brown family. We never got on the helicopter - I have all the records - one excuse after the other - I am not sure why they treated us poorly. but, we were treated poorly. It was a happy occasion for us and this experience was the only damper - this was in May of 2016. I forgot to write the review before because 1) I never disappoint my children because they work hard. And, these people were able to dampen our joy. I almost hate them. They did refund the money - I really feel it was some sort of discrimination going on but I cannot prove it. Each time we agreed to their re-schedule, each time it was cancelled by them. finally, my daughter said to take the money back from them. I booked a helicopter tour with Wings Air Helicopters for my family of four (including myself) as a special gift to celebrate my parents' anniversary. I paid $3,000 for a 45-minute flight, specifically choosing this tour because their website promised we would "FLY DIRECTLY OVER PARTS OF MANHATTAN INCLUDING CENTRAL PARK AND THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING "something that had been a lifelong dream for my parents.Unfortunately, about an hour before our scheduled departure, a mass shooting occurred in Manhattan. Due to this unexpected and serious event, we were informed that "air police" had restricted access to Manhattan airspace. As a result, our flight only circled the outer parts of the city and did not enter Manhattan airspace as advertised.We fully understood and respected the circumstances, however after the flight I politely asked how this situation would be addressed since we didn't receive the experience we paid for. An employee called his manager/boss, who told me (and I quote), "THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO AND YOU GOT YOUR MONEYS WORTH", simply because we still had a flight, even though it didn't include the main attractions we came for. Also their base is located far outside of Manhattan. If you book a 30 minute tour, you barely make it to the city before turning back so in my opinion, anything under 45 minutes doesn't give you the real NYC helicopter experience and feels misleading.That said, the pilot was excellent, and the flight itself despite the circumstances was smooth and enjoyable. But overall, I'm disappointed in how the company handled the situation and the lack of customer service in response to a $3,000 experience that didn't deliver on what was clearly promised. read more

I have always been interested in flying helicopters and received this opportunity to actually fly one as a Christmas gift. I can't recall a better gift! The entire experience was outstanding. Being and engineer I was very interested in all the technical details, actually bought the Pilot's Operating Handbook for the R44 and read it prior to the flight (nerd). The instructor was very patient and diligent answering all my questions. The pre/post flight were well paced and I never once felt rushed. The flight was the best. I actually had all of the controls for more than 20 minutes and did not want to give them back! Banked left/right, increased/decreased altitude, even got a chance to hover at the end prior to landing. Left me wanting to start flight training. As much as I am afraid of heights, I've always wanted to ride in a helicopter, especially over Manhattan as the sun sets. My dream came true on October 5, 2016. First off, the customer service at Wings Air are so great! Our original flight date was in late September, but because of NYC's bipolar weather, it rained for two weeks straight and we had to call to postpone it. On their website, it says that if you reschedule on the day of the actual ride, you will get charged a fee. But they were so understanding because of the wishy washy weather that they didn't charge us anything. Our 30 minute ride over Manhattan and the Long Island Sound, seriously felt so short. But it was worth every minute of it. I got some really great views of the ESB and Times Square actually looks beautiful up in the air! I'd recommend this company and I would love to ride again in the spring time! read more

This is a must do experience! Anthony, the pilot, is a top-notch professional. Anna was also great. They are the Circle Line of helicopter tours (high compliment). It was incredible from the beginning! We checked in and sat in a nice lounge (the Million Air terminal). Anthony came over to introduce himself and a few moments later we are taken to the helicopter. After a few photos, we board and take off for a beautiful, comfortable, and informative flight. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Amazing! Booking was so easy and fast. We bought the private sunset tour from Groupon and upgraded it to a private tour. The craft was smaller than expected, but it did not matter once we were up in the air. I loved our experience, and I would definitely go again. The views were amazing; we got unbelievable pictures that we will use for many years. Getting there was pretty easy too. We just took a 45-minute train from grand central and then a short uber. Neither of us like venturing far from the city, but the ride was definitely worth the commute. If you're on the fence, don't waste your time, just book!! read more

Where do i start! To when you first arrive to the place where you would go take the helicopter tour. The place is super clean and comfy. They offer you snacks, coffee and water. The women behind the counter was super nice and introduced us to the gentlemen that was going to be our pilot (Anthony) he made us feel so comfortable and answered any questions we had. It was about a 45 tour out of Westchester airport straight to into NYC. The sun was setting and we had just about the most amazing romantic view of the sunset. He flew us right over and then in front of the empire stage building, we went all the way down to the state of liberty and around the Hudson river. Then the most amazing and never forgetting moment of my life happened. My boyfriend proposed to me while Anthony was hovering right in front of the freedom tower. They were so kind to us and gave us both bottles of Champagne and had flowers ready for me. If I can give this place 100 starts I would. If you want an amazing tour from Westchester into the city I recommend this place! Definitely worth the money. Everyone in the entire staff is friendly, and if you happen to catch a flight with either Anthony or Richard, I guarantee you will have a blast. The guys are very laid back and knowledgable. I've been to at least 5 flight schools, Wings Air struck me as a serious flight training facility in addition to being a fun attraction. Some places are more focused on the "fun attraction" side of the business rather than the serious flight training side. Real flight schools like Wings are much more generous with what they show you for the price of a lesson, and have better instructors who share their passion more enthusiastically. *Only reason I left off one star is because I have only taken one lesson so far.* I was a nervous by the strict sounding written rules they sent, expecting it to be a hassle. (They require the printed Groupon for instance, not just the number...I had to go to kinkos) BUT the staff was actually quite friendly and easy going, and they did not rush us. The classroom and lounge are nice, clean and spacious, it's located in a hangar with a very very cool looking private jet and helicopter. They use a Schwiezer which I found a lot easier to learn on than a Robinson. Scenery-wise, you get to see coastal CT, and plenty of nice mansions and estates. Honestly, there's no bad view from the heli, even the airport is fascinating, since there's commercial airlines operating out of Westchester county. Having an advanced student do the pre-flight ground briefing was a nice touch, because you get to meet an enthusiastic recent-trainee. The airport is easy to navigate and find their hangar--sometimes these airports can be confusing. I would highly recommend WIngs Air! read more
